Fun fact with the new shields:
You can basically "parry" an enemy's melee attack with them :)
If you melee someone with a shield to try and knock it to the side (so you can shoot them), they can melee roughly around the same time as you and YOUR melee will hit their shield and NOT knock it away but THEY will hit YOU and knock YOU on the floor allowing them to turn you into red mist. It's happened to me about 30 times by now and it sucks :)
In fact Montagne parries Doc's attack around 1:17 - 1:21 and then Bikini does it around 2:34
It's weird too because I thought it worked where if you both knifed around the same time it just cancelled itself out
had a knife fight as monty against an azami and we knifed 5 times in a row and each time non of us died or were effected
As a shield main they should lower the time on that no parry ive had people clearly hit before I hit them and it doesn't matter they still get knocked down. Either that or make the knock down take 3 hits to fully knock instead of 1-2
Yea it's definitely inconsistent or has other variables. I've definitely had times when we canceled each other out and ones where we collide and they audibly bounce off my shield before getting flung into a wall.
That was always the case even before the rework. Except that now the melee animation still protects your upper body, so using melee at the same time is safer than before where the shield went horizontal leaving your head, upper body and legs open to the enemies knife to kill you before your melee registers.
Gearup sounds cool, but I don't know if I could trust a random compony to get access to my internet traffic.
It sounds like an eventually-scummy 3rd-party solution to a netcode/webtraffic problem that should be fixed by game devs. Gearup will be awesome for a few months, but then these game companies will catch on and adopt whatever code-magic they're using to resolve ping problems. Gearup will then go into the red, be forced to sell their business, and all your webtraffic/personal data/etc. will be harvested by a financial firm that buys up these sorts of companies and then repackages whatever they can to be sold to the highest bidder.
Hopefully I'm wrong, but this is generally what happens when netcode "magic" surfaces on the market, it's quickly reverse-engineered by the big names in the industry and becomes ubiquitous.

this melee system makes sense more or less, you are not longer a psycho trying to use the shield like a gauntlet to hit people, you actually keep it up and try to hit them, and they get hit hard cause that thing weights at least a dozen kilos

This shield "rework" (more like OP buff) is why I hesitate to get back into siege...I remember the days when this game used to be mostly about aiming and gun skill.
I feel like if the shields are now this effective there needs to be a more mobile way if dealing with shields and not just picking clash..
Being able to vault straight though barricades is too much, they need to remove that.

Probably research it some more it does get access to your internet and that can be dangerous

Every op that has inpacts, c4's, shotguns, gu mines, Warden glasses, Ela mines, Kapkan traps, Thorn traps, Clash, Echo, Smoke and Mute all can counter shields. Shields were unfair for both sides a season ago, you're telling me a 1 tap knock was good? or you're telling me it was unrewarding to use them cause every time you tried to melee you got super exposed? Just say you're scared of them...

Shields aren't overpowered, I feel like they should make the melee one hit kill again and also increase the size of each shield to cover more of the body cause people can shoot your shoulders easily.
