Great video, very enjoyable. Camp who you want to, no need to apologize, at the end of the day all that counts in a hobby is the it’s fun and you enjoy doing it. Otherwise there would not be much point to it.

Your right about light kit, it is worth it but costs alot but you get years out of down sleep bags still got my thirty year old one ok for a summer bag as they lose there down a bit. I've got the OEX Helios EV Hydrodown 300 Sleeping Bag from Gooutdoors, it's so small and so warm, & so light, it's actually on sale for £117, fantastic value for a 3 season down bag.

      @justgetoutthereguy  Před 5 lety +2

That is fantastic news! My advice would be to start somewhere relatively local, as I did, ensuring you have packed all the right gear, subsequently learning what is needed - essential, required, not required etc. Then progressively go further & further afield! Well good luck & enjoy! Are you on social media of any kind to post some pics from your upcoming adventures? If not, no worries - As a German backpacker in Northeren Australia once said to me after I quizzed the fact that he didn't have a camera. he smiled and tapped his head, and replied. 'Memories will be made and stored here...forever!'

Good to see you out bike-packing again - it's gotta be a passion of yours Adam the combination of bike and camp. it certainly leads you into interesting meet ups - at least on this one. Them guys sounded friendly and the super Long Distance Bike-packer was a revelation. As far as camping where you did I'd say you're on the road adventuring and if it takes you into places with a few facilities so be it. At least you're moving and discovering zones that hey don't make you feel lonely - same as me I feel completely at home. That was great Adam. Good going. All the best. Mark

Good video Adam. Its great to share the adventure with you. 50 years ago I did similar bike trips and when I met my wife to be I suggested we went cycle camping to Ireland. She didn't have a bike and mine got pinched about a week before. Anyway she said yes and borrowed my dad's somewhat sit up and beg and off we went. She didn't continue with the enthusiasm but I carried on cycling through the decades just commuting and day trips on my own. I've filmed a few of them and I appreciate the work that goes into the video production, editing and skill of the shots. Recently I did a couple of hobo stove lunch stops on the short rides just to add a bit of the camping element to the day. Boiling up water for coffee and cooking bacon to put in a roll. Still 45 years on and were still here and if I want to indulge the passion at home I can watch videos like yours. Keep up the good work.

That's a seriously OTT sleeping bag! It's designed for sleeping up on mountains in winter not for a bit of cycle camping in Spring. Once funds allow I recommend you get a 2 season bag (OEX ones are good value) and a sleeping bag liner (not cotton!) which will effectively extend it to about 3 seasons. I no longer use a down bag. I had one back in the 1990s and it served me well for a few years but decided to fail me by the down clumping together in the middle of a 2 week tour. Since then I've only used synthetic bags and am prepared to carry a heavier, bulkier bag in exchange for reliability.
It's a long time since I've used the Tissington Trail. I used to use it when cycling up to Hulme End. But I never really liked it so eventually I worked out a route through Okeover Hall then up over Thorpe Pasture followed by a short stretch of A road before turning off towards Hartington then to Hulme End. If I were heading for Monyash I think I'd use much the same route but instead of going into to Hartington go up Long Dale then up to Parsley Hay.

Me again. Adam. I'm lapping your videos up like there was no tomorrow. Just seen your saddle that made my eyes water. I always regret giving away my Brooks Professional with my best bike to a colleague in Rolleston who wanted to do some charity rides as I had done. It gave me the very best of rides when combined with the sexy Lycra tights and Coolmax undershorts. I never knew my rear existed.
I fear that with my weight, your saddle would have cut me in half.
    Loved the ride.
Hartington reminded me that it used to produce a blue cheese that beat any other Stilton that I'd tried. The independent local cheese makers were gobbled up by a national conglomerate and I don't know if that cheese shop still exists.
Your questioning your own decent philosophy again! You're not bl---y cheating. You're doing your own particular thing at that particular time. No sweat.
With camping - be it hiking, bikepacking, car camping or whatever, there is no such thing as cheating unless you are dropped in by helicopter and pretend you go there on your own steam.

Really enjoyed that video Adam, It made a nice change to what I usually watch. As for the electric bikes, my wife has just had one and it’s been amazing because she found most of my bike rides too much. We did 65k the other week from Cromford, high peak, Carsington, Tissington, Hudlow and back. She was in better shape than me afterwards, I could hardly walk! So it’s been a game changer for her.

How do you secure your bike?
I’m thinking of getting a motion detector padlock 🔐 and making up some sort of lanyard.

Hi, thanks for watching and comments. Yes security has played on my mind, I even considered tying some fishing line onto the bike to my wrist! Motion detection is an option. Other idea I have is to use a tarp, with the bike itself as part of the setup! I am looking into this, might do a video on possible set ups... All the best Adam

@@justgetoutthereguy Ah, cool, thanks. Your videos have inspired me to go out bikepacking but one thing that worries me is how to secure my bike when camping? In the Tissington trail video, on the campsite there doesn't seem to be anywhere to secure the bike to?

@@alanprioroutdoors Alan, it is an issue I don't deny. I would like to address it at some point on one of my videos. I concede I just rely on a standard frame through wheel lock, and just rely on the isolated spot that no-one will stumble on my location whilst I sleep. Not ideal I do realise. Security is something I do need to address...

@@justgetoutthereguy I've also asked the question on the cycle touring groups on Facebook. The issue seems to be divided into sound practical advice and those who wan't to take the p**s with stupid suggestions like taking the bike into your sleeping bag with you. One guy did say though that he has a bike lock with an audible tamper alarm...

Shame those chaps buy these electric bikes and don't use them to there full potential, specially the guy with the haibike probably £3500 there alone just to be rode by a newbie, why not buy n ebike for a grand it will do the same when riding, just don't understand these people who buy expensive bikes who can't use them to there full potential, I own the haibike very much the same to this in the video but it's tricked out ready for urban rides or what ever terrain... Wheelies manuals jumps ext... Just a waste I think . Great video tho I enjoyed it very much. 😁
