Hi Lucy I'm smiling again the best part of your bike packing video is your smile 😊
Ha ha thank you!
Love that climb up Mam Tor but Winnats looks crazy!
Great bank holiday adventure
Thank you 🥰
BRILL !!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh thank you 🥰
I enjoyed that, Lucy, looks like a great ride. I went to the Peaks with Adam G (MOCC) a year ago and rode a lot of the same trails. It's a gravel bike heaven! We were on MTBs which was great for the rougher sections. It was also very wet!

Ah cool! C2C is a great route!
@@Sturgecycling we also have that planned! Too much work not enough time.. 😵💫
@@markburton8303 annoying when work gets in the way!!
Wonderful.
Thank you :)
Great video, Lucy, beautiful scenery. Good to see old railway lines repurposed so well.
Thank you so much 🙂
Another lovely video showing the joy of being out on a bike. Which bike? - doesn’t matter, you’re out enjoying the ride. Which type of fun? - doesn’t matter, you’ll enjoy there and then (type1) or you’ll enjoy it in retrospect later (type 2). What kit list? - always nice to pick up hints and tips seeing what other people take but ultimately, as for ‘which bike’ above, it doesn’t matter, kit develops and changes over time and rides. Thanks for keeping it real 👍
Thank you so much for this lovely comment 😊
Just found your channel as was searching about, fantastic my wife and myself just loved that…. Thank you
Oh thank you so much! Love comments like this 😃
What a lovely adventure! Your channel has me inspired to try back packing. Keep sharing your great adventures 😊
Oh that’s so nice to hear! Thank you! Bike packing is great, i recommend it!
That was a nice adventure for me, laying here on the couch. It's raining outside. I feel the same way when on a tour; Lonely sometimes but when around people and people noise I can't wait to get away again on my own. This was fun. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much ❤️
That little climb through the woods where you stopped is my favourite little uphill in the peak district, its so beautiful in the trees.
So beautiful isn’t it! Some lovely spots 😊
Well done Lucy. Nice ride. Looks like you have GRX on your bike? Was it the 46/30 11-36?
I’ve got the same on mine and was wondering what the set up is like for bike packing and hills!!!???
I use the lowest gears already 😂 without weight!!
You know what… I’m not quite sure what ratio I have, I will check! Sometimes it’s a slow grovel, but I always make it 😂
@@Sturgecycling Also seem to have discovered the limits of the rear derailleur 🥺. Went on a nice canal ride the other day but it was tyre deep in clay and mud for the majority of it (about 12 km of it) Ended up throwing the chain and damaging the derailleur beyond repair. Just ordered another one and checking the limits of what everyone else seems to be using their gravel bikes on. Looks like muddy tracks are the recommended limit from utubers I’ve watched. Lesson learnt.
@martinreed9264 oh dear!
Apparently, modern gravel drivetrains are still heavily road oriented, and not much suited for very mixed terrain and off-road riding with a load.

Just subscribed, absolutely love it. Looking forward to seeing you on more adventures involving a little bit of sunshine!
Thank you!
Lovely upload my friend! 👏👏
Thank you so much 😊
Lovely video once again Lucy.
Thank you so much!
Looks amazing I be too frightened to do anything like that but must try one day! Can I ask what food do you take and do you cook ? Love seeing all the places you visit. Keep going! 😊😊
Can I suggest doing something small first then? Ride to your nearest youth hostel!
So food wise.. on longer trips I have a stove. As I was staying at youth hostels so I used the kitchen there. I cook simple meals, often pasta or rice!
Thanks so much for the lovely comment and always happy to answer questions 🥰
Thank you for the video, enjoyed it and recognised most of the tracks and roads you were on. I think a gravel bike was fine for what you were riding, despite an earlier comment.
Thank you so much! It was just fine for me 🥰
highly recommend the Thermorest xtherm for winter - worth every penny, for the rest of the year their normal yellow one. Avoid the uberlight blue (they dont have the durability). Having had all different matts over the years, from exped, sea to summit, big agnes, alpkit, nothing comes close to the Thermorest esp their guarantees and customer service. Good vlog, safe travels.
Edit - this looks such a good bike friendly, minimal car's, route - never done any cycling down in the peak district so ignorant apologies! Any further guidance on the main part of the route as the link doesn't work for me. Looks a fun few days does that route and quiet too!
Great recommendation, thank you I will take a look!
You have a good stamina level to push along with all that kit with those climbs. When did you first start riding endurance cycling?
Thank you! I have been cycling about 10 years now, have done a few different things… race, TT, long distance but now I just enjoy the travels 😊
Nice ! Looked chilly…. Btw. What camera are you using? Great stabilization.
Thanks! It was chilly in places 🤣. I have a GoPro hero 10 black. Stabilisation is really good! Have to restart it a lot and the battery aren’t great though! The joy of GoPro I think!
I recently bought that exact camera. Check if your GPS is on. Apparently, turning it off significantly improves battery life.
@TravelsWithTony yup it’s off! I just use it a lot! 🤣
@TravelsWithTony it’s an awesome little camera, I really love it!
I Googled "when will it stop raining" the other day. Have to say I didn't like the answer 😢!
Nooooooooo 😂😂😂😂🤪🤪🤪
hi your komoot route is not working to download
Maybe you could download the parts from strava?
@@Sturgecycling would you be up in doing the king Alfred’s way with me
@carlwatkiss4252 sorry I’m a solo bike packer or trips reserved for my close friends…. Hope you enjoy it though!
If you’re going off road get a mountain bike. Grovel bikes are pretty mediocre at everything
I am able to make my own bike choices thanks 🙂 … I like my gravel bike as it gives me options. Might be looking at MTB in the future though 😊
It's a mixed terrian so a gravel is more than suitable. Get real, you spend vast vast majority of time on boring climbs anyway, where a mountainbike is a hindrance.
Looks a great ride but could you mention roughly where you are as you progress. You are in my neck of the woods but I only ride road so didn’t recognise most of where you were riding. Did know the High Peak Trail as I’ve ridden that.
I will try and comment where I am as I’m riding! Sometimes I don’t even know myself though 😂🤣
@@Sturgecycling grovel bike trails will kill your tires slowly.
Steel Bulls, the scourge of the roads, spoiling the countryside.
Too many cars 😣
