Sundrop takes me back to my childhood, stopping at the bait shop with my dad with a cooler full of fish to show off. We'd always stop on the way home to get drinks and snacks. Funny, my dad would take a cooler of beer and ONE drink for me. Can't tell you how many times I had to drink a beer because it was all that was left by the time the sun was blazing hot and I was dying of thirst. My dad: "Don't tell your mama I gave you a beer!" Everything not Southern there tends to come from Chicago or New England. I've had some wild stuff there. Some Kroger stores in Texas have Sun Drop. I was delighted to find it because I grew a taste for it in college in Maryland in the late eighties.

When the Big Red came out, I involuntarily shuddered. I remember an interest campaign that came to NC several years back to see if the stuff would do well here. I live in Mississippi and my moms family lives in middle Tennessee and every time I go up there I load up on sun drop, love the stuff
When the Big Red came out, I involuntarily shuddered. I remember an interest campaign that came to NC several years back to see if the stuff would do well here. People we're giving out free samples to traffic waiting at the light, and taking down responses.
The lack of Big Red around here years later shows how well it was received. 😂

A Grapico, bag of golden flake sour cream and onion chips and a cheeseburger from Gigolos (a small mom & pop burger place in Bessemer that closed in the early 90's) was the menu of my childhood.

Here in East Tennessee, Dr Enuff is the stuff!!! Our ball teams even sell cases as fundraisers (even though every store has them). When packing for vacation out of state everyone has a cooler of 'Nuff to keep them hydrated. It even comes in several different flavors including a red herbal. And truly...... we have the great Dollywood so y'all should seriously reconsider that Dr Enuff score. lol

Yes and no. The first version of Mountain Dew came from Tennessee, but the drink as it's known today comes from Marion, Virginia.
