MMA retirements are the most boy who cried wolf thing ever. Most only last less than a year, but we many times choose to believe anyway them out of respect, because sometimes they really do retire. In these cases, yeah, nobody thought they'd last.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw Derrick Lewis taking off his gloves last night, but a sigh of relief when he threw them in the crowd. I honestly wouldn't have been mad at him, he's not young, and doesn't have a realistic title opportunity. But I still want to see him fight a few more times.
He has 7 fights left on his contract after that one and he claims he’s gonna fight them all out. We will see tho.
Who knows though heavyweight is pretty low on high profile fighters right now a few knockout finished and he could get a title shot plus he's a big fan favorite

If his taxes are 3.3 million, he would have Made at least ten times the amount from the related businesses. This has nothing to do with anything in particular, but every weekend I’ll sell roughly $175-$200 in gas to Henry. Dude does not make small talk whatsoever. Doesn’t like being called sir, and just wants to buy his gas and get the hell out of the store immediately. But weirdly enough, does not want to, or ever will insert his card into the card readers at the pumps. Still comes into the store every weekend to pay the old fashioned way despite having no desire to communicate.

One of my favorite ufc moments is in 2020 at a post fight conference someone asked dana when conor would return and he said conor was retired in a way you could tell he was obviously lying. I like to think every media member in that room rolled their eyes because even dana couldn't make a lie that hilariously bad.

Always gonna be like that in combat sports, it's different in traditional team sports because there's a season, you have to sign a contract with a team to play for them. Takes more planning. It's not like MLB or NBA players never come out of retirement, but for fighters, you can just say you're retired and agree to a fight and come out any time you want.
