Splat: "... that old Vampire movie, 'Underworld'..."
Me: "Bro, that movie isn't... oh, crap."
Feels bad, man. Feels bad.
I still don’t understand how they created a bullet with a UV core.
I mean, is that possible? There are tranq rounds which have a similar structure, but won’t that be expensive to create? And just from where did the lycans get the money to do that?
@@90maducc get enough dogs humping in a den and stuff just happens
@@90maducc They're hundreds of years old. They made good investments.
I think they're talking "re-boot/makes/etc."
LMAO, you call that old?! I remember watching Sir Christopher Lee as Dracula in Hammer Films at least one of I saw in the cinema. That kids is old, Chris Lee when he was all young and shit. Well, sorta young.
Subscribing to Splat is one of the best gaming decisions I ever made. So many cool games I never even heard of! Ty, Splat!
My steam wishlist used to be about 20ish games. After I subbed to Splatt, it is now over 100 and counting. I cannot afford all of the great games I see him play!
I sub to splat and Nookrium for indie game goodness. Nook does not sing though like splat, but he is a nice guy : )
I agree but he does waffle a bit at the beginning a bit but it's alright.
I mean, that's definitely true, however I am... *_a lot_* poorer now because of him. Worth it though :)
I love Arcen for their creativity, it's a sweet whiff of 80s golden age.
Love that Splat makes Ender's Game references every so often. Pretty sure he said "The enemies gate is down" a couple weeks ago.
He did. I caught that too
I remember reading that as a kid. Good book. Never finished series.
@@Kaiser282 Eh, it's fine if you just read the first book. Given that it was originally a short story stretched to novel length, it stands alone as its own thing.
The sequels are fine, but nothing amazing.
I liked Bean's story arc
@@cavemanbob82 Have you read Ender's Shadow? It's Ender's Game but from Bean's perspective. It adds a lot of depth and is really the only other Ender book that I recommend.
Wow, there's a lot to take in, fortunately it looks like it is a lot of good. The depth of the game is honestly astonishing, the idea of challenging this super advanced reactive a.i is super exciting. Thanks for the great games and studios you show and talk about Splatt', really helps broaden my horizons :D
I have been playing this recently and it's so damn good. Waay better than expected. Once you have a fleet capable of doing some deep raids it's so unbelievably tense, especially once the AI realizes that and starts sending his own fleets to attack your weak points.
Brilliant, brilliant game. It deserves so much more exposure so thanks for this video.
I'm hyped about this game! I played the heck out of AI War 1, so thank you for this exposure. Hopefully I can pick this up the next time it goes on sale.
So glad to see this gem of a game getting more attention!
Wow, I bet I could suck real good at this game...I love it. Hope to see more Splatt.
i really prefer these biased reviews about games you like rather than random first impression videos.
Hey man, thanks for making this video, I recently got the game off of GOG and I had no idea how to begin. I'm pretty good with RTS games (Command and Conquer, Supreme Commander, Ashes of the Singularity, etc.) But every game has it's own little idiosyncrasies to learn and this video was incredibly helpful
Ahhhh perfect. I needed info on this game I look it up and the splat cat delivers. always the man never misses he’s the dead shot of comedy. The pharaoh of funny. The college of knowledge
you put a ton of effort into this vid, GJ splat!
Planet Dorsai... the Dorsai books are classics, the first three are amazing, superb sci fi.
Played the first AI War years ago, thanks for this look, I will be grabbing this. 👍
I didn’t realize they finished this. I jumped in on the Kickstarter they did years ago and it didn’t fund.
I’ll be grabbing this once I get home from work
it did get funded. From what I recall, they scrapped the first attempt at a kickstarter because they asked for a ton right away and didn't get much attention out there on it. They re-tooled the kickstarter a few months later and it succeeded. I've been able to play this since 2018 *thought god it was a mess of an alpha build at the time*.
I never regret it when the notion to come back to this game takes me. I probably play too conservatively, so I rarely finish campaigns, but I love the push and resistance dynamics of it.
What Battlestar Galactica should have been
Once again asking Splat to finish mission 1 of waarhammer battlesector. PLEASE DO IT. (Like so Splattercat can see)
I've played a lot of AI War and KSed AI War 2. I don't enjoy 2 as much as the first game, but it's solid and I'd recommend either as they're excellent fun and I love all the different ship types.
Arcen merely follows in the footsteps of Bay 12 Gaming
6:00 hell yeah I just randomly thought if that a couple days ago I loved those movies
Arcen keeps producing amazing games, over and over again. They're skew in design, they're all about strategic choices you can make from many, many options. Always happy to see their games on here.
Nice video Splat
Do you recall A Valley Without Wind? The game was decent, then it was updated, wreaked, remade into a second which they gave to everyone who owned the first. Not their finest hour.
SOLD! To this spacer.
I got some space admiraling to do now. Thanks again.
This game reminds me of some very old-school PC RTS games. I'm talking Star Command vibes, but with modern UI. Definitely interested.
Nice seeing you on both Twitch and CZcams Splat.
The tech is almost to the point where playing these game types will be almost movie like! Perhaps with advisor assistants helping the play etc along! The starting and run concept will always work for quick gameplay!
He said that old movie underworld. Wow that hurt I'm so old now.
So... is _Sploot_ the past tense of the verb 'splatter'?
"The cat was splooted"? I like it.
Please tell me you will do a run on twitch, this would be fun.
Sorry if it sounds like i'm backseat gaming, but here's just some things I wanted to note for you if you continue playing AI war 2.
5:20 Eh, don't worry if you die. there's billions if not trillions of planet bound humans that the AI has spared.
7:43 Flagships can swap ship lines between each other at no cost if both are in the same system and are unloaded.
8:09 Yes, early game you want to specialize, but mid-late game you may have a lot of ships that don't fit in with your current tech. You can refund spent science using hack points. This encourages versatility later on, so your starting techs won't necessarily dictate the tactics used for the rest of the game.
8:33 Hacking is a resource in Fleet Command as well. However, unlike Fleet Command, you cannot go into hack debt in AI war 2. You can also hack yourself and other minor factions.
9:42: The AI only sends counter attacks against you if you lose alot of forces or cripple a golem/ark on an AI owned planet with at least one guard post. As you lose forces on a planet, the AI builds up counter attack budget specific to that planet. Once it hits a tipping point, the AI then can send a counter attack your way. Counter Attacks can be delayed by having a high enough strength value on the planet the counter attack is coming from, but can only be completely stopped by destroying all AI guard posts
9:49 Reconquest waves aren't necessarily beefy all the time. The AI only sends the minimal amount of strength it thinks it needs to reconquer a planet. If a neutral planet has no hostile to AI forces on it, it'll probably only send a 5 strength reconquest wave towards it. However, if a reconquest wave is targeting one of your heavily fortified worlds, expect it to be very VERY strong.
10:35 Strength is not a good indicator of how well a unit will perform. 50 strength of grenade launcher corvettes will lose to 20 strength of v-wings. 100 strength of rams will lose to even 20 strength of turrets. Strength is mostly used in AI calculations, such as "how much forces i should send in wave towards a planet" or "i should run away when the enemy has this much more strength than me".
13:12 You have to kill the AI command stations before you can claim neutral units.
14:27 Consider claiming both Nagao and Beric. Both planets have hackables on them, and several hackable AI things have a 2x cost modifier attached to them AND the response to the hacking is stronger if the planet is owned by an AI. However, if it is owned by you, the hack will instead be .5x the regular cost, take a shorter amount of time and AI response is lessend. Additional, Nagao can then be used as an economic backline, giving you much more energy to work with.
15:12 Not anything. Ships that have a high engine gx such as raiders can overpower the tractor beams, while units with albedo .4 and higher such as eyebots are to slippery to be caught by tractor beams.
15:29 Yes it's pretty important. This is your homeworld. Any extra protection your home command station can get is important.
16:38 Ruffian turrets are meant to be used offensively, rather than defensively. They have a larger than average range, and they reduce any incoming damage dealt to them if the source of damage is greater than 6,000 distance away. They are ideal for besieging fortified AI turret guard posts and turret balls. Side note: Weapon names generally don't matter, but sometimes they have a name rule format (i.e petard deals bonus damage to 90mm armor and greater), but that doesn't necessarily mean all petard weapons will deal bonus damage to 90mm armor.
18:01 Transports are fairly durable early game, no need to shy away. Additionally, the AI is retreating from that planet because you have a strength ratio greater than 2:1. Retreating AI forces means they'll come back later on, so kill as many fleeing AI units as possible. You do have a Forcefield Frigate in your transport that you can use to block off wormholes.
19:05 You hacked an ARS for 2x the hacking cost, when at 22:04 you destroyed the command station, which would have reduced the hacking cost. Plan carefully around hacking since hacking is limited.
19:53 An exostrike spawns whenever you complete a hack or during fallen spire. Exo strikes spawn a group of units on a nearby AI world with a warp gate, pick a target, then try to kill that target. Usually a command station.
20:42 The AI units ran away, they didn't die. They'll come back later.
23:27 Again, when you hacked the ARS, the planet was under AI control, making the hack 2x more expensive and much more responsive, which is why they were so aggressive.
Thanks again splat! Another one for the wish list! 🙂🥦🦖
I have a feeling Splat has never played Homeworld.
Have it, loved it and ai war 1. Also loved sins of a solar empire. Good luck.
Threat waves are the ones that the AI can backdoor you with.
you talking about ai war in new video so i just look it up. seem like a good game to play for me. thanks
Splat I’m going to be honest with ya.... I love all you do bro but damn man I should have never started watching your stuff I buy 99% of the stuff you play...
I bought this a year ago, 2 days before my FiL died...I don't even remember buying it.
Battles remind me of Starwars: Empire at War
SplatterCat mentioning Ender's Game?
all i thought watching this was GET ON WITH IT!
This game has impressive depth on the surface, but once you dig in you realize that it's pretty much complexity for the sake of complexity and big numbers for the sake of big numbers, and that what the resulting gameplay loop boils down to isn't very satisfying.
For some reason it also obfuscates key info like "X unit is immune to tractor beams" and huge damage bonuses behind some abstract number thresholds, and you'd have to memorize dozens of these thresholds to get optimally efficient at the game. Makes you scratch your head at who exactly is the target audience.
Perhaps if Arcen had weaved-in more of a narrative into your progressive re-discovery by the AI it might have some flavor at least, but they went for ridiculous and grating insult lines with questionable voice acting as your only interaction with it besides the rising, abstract AIP number.
Gameplay starts at 4:50
play emily is away 3 maybe not for a video but for you its a trip of a indie game that will wrench at your soul my dude
Best amsr video to sleep
Splat you are awesome !!
AI Wars2 hmmmm sorry buddy I'll stick to Sins of Solar Empire Rebellion
It's a very different kind of game tought, don't get me wrong, I LOVE sins but AIW is very, very different, try it if you wish, the game is far more tactical than SOASE (even preparing a beach-head is far more tactical and strategic)
@@TheGamesOfVoid0000 buddy I'm as tactical as hedgehog in an empty bath
The Fleet Carriers aren't invulnerable but they are extremely durable.
350k Shield and another 350k Hull makes them an order of magnitude more sturdy than every ship or station you should encounter in the first ~10 systems.
Splat, could you recommend those tutorial videos?
czcams.com/channels/ELmUfQVr_26awHDg_48qTA.htmlplaylists?view=50&sort=dd&shelf_id=2
system Dorsai huh?, is that just generated by the game or did you read the books?
Ah, someone else noticed that. Either way, he needs to do right that is an important world there. :D
Campaign name = 'Butts'?
So childish, so immature, so silly....
I LOVE IT! 😄
9:21
.... SOME-
Hey Splat any plans to stream this would like to see more of it (im a man that loves but sucks at RTS lol)
I wonder how hard or performance intensive would be to use the 3d nature of space to stop that clipping? Instead of overlapping you get some ships above or below.
Late-game you might get battles between 10.000vs10.000 and 3D space whit patching might be a little heavy
Still love your content splatty xoxox luv from AUSTRALIA xoxoxo
So like 4:50 to see the game stuff
Cheers to other Gordon R. Dickson fans who saw what I saw ;d
Really really cool.
Arcen Games make great games that everyone likes. Their sales figures are fantastic.
When does reverse day end? Uh, I mean, when does non-reverse day start?
Well, arcen games are generally pretty good and aimed to a specific niche.
Some are better, some are worse, but we can't deny that Arcen track record is quite good.
Also, AIW2 is amazing 😍
Splat always say games should start with a gameplay and only then bring the chunk of story.
Maybe it should also be applied to Splat's videos. Start with the game and only then a load of talking and explaining
I always just skip straight to the gameplay because otherwise he ends up explaining the game twice.
4:00 STOP RAMBLING & START PLAYING ALREADY! :)
i cast judgement apon your ai war 2 gameplay youtuber!
Ayo that looks cool
steam workshop for mods? if yes.... star wars mod?
RTS on the rise again.
if you have a stroke and your central brain is damaged, the first thing that will happen to you is to lose your speech.
it may seem brutal to you, but if it happens to you, your life will go to a much higher level.
Is the overuse of the word "like" subliminal messaging to get people to click the 'like' button?
stelaris ?
4 hours?!?!?!?!??! omg
So is this a reboot of the original, or a continuation? I ask as a person who hates reading stories out of order.
AI War is , essentially, a tower defense game. You'll get up to speed pretty quick. It's not good, so don't worry if you don't.
It's a reboot, you won't need to read anything beforehand :)
AW is universally considered an amazing game, and a pretty tought one at that too.
The user above me is right on the tower defence part, kinda.
TD isn't that important in AW2 compared to straight tactics and strategy (specifically guerrilla tactics unless you go on an all-out-war whit the assistance whit one of the factions but .... Spoilers!)
If we talking lore, ai war 2 is a parallel universe to ai war fleet command, and every permutation of it (i.e, planet count, minkr factions, AI type, etc) is its own parallel universe. The lore is pretty much the same however. Humans had 800 year civil war, AI was created, and then destroyed space humanity (humans on planets were spared). The only consistent thing between all universes is that humanity defeats the AI.
Can you automate the fleet to go on there plan and attack independently? Kinda like freeroaming
I was excited when you said Sins of a solar empire but this does not look like that
👏
🖤
Home World like
😎👍
Hacking an A.I. is... wel... "ambitious" one might say ;)
the first kinda bores me, may try this one
silver nitrate bullets lol
Have I seen this game somewhere.
Something to do with a browser game ad that I used to see.
Helo splatterCatgameming let's go wet de new game myn ✨✌️👍👌🤓✨✔️
>skill at the game
Wait, you mean you have skill? Sometimes I wonder if you're a journo
Game looks like a lot of work. No thanks. Cool video tho.

Enders game is not a very good way to compare to this game... at least the movie version of it... never read it
I mean, the only similarity that he noted was humanity coming back from the brink of extinction... so you could compare that theme to dozens of franchises, from Halo to The Matrix. Also, the movie leaves out many of the core themes that are explored in the book - you're really depriving yourself by not reading it.
@@singerman7560 at least in the book, I was made known that they only wanted water... and they ignored the humans after that one time they went there, never intended to fight again
@@singerman7560 I do want to read it though... books are always better
Last!
too much talk and little gameplay. just give the damn gamplay and don't too much talk
I eat dirty bandaids off the bottom of pool floors.
So, basically Stellaris 2?
Hm... Not really.
It's a different thing. But they have some similarities.
Stellaris is a true 4X bordering on Grand Strategy. You won't find any politics or ethics in AI War 2, just a bunch of more or less abstract mechanics.
If you have to watch tutorials to play a game, you're not playing a game you're learning to play the optimal way. By watching tutorials. Neither AI War 1 or 2 are not good games. There's no play variety.
