  • Thanks for checking out my sixth mod to my Jeep! Next on my list was to
    mod the front factory bumper. We were originally planning on doing this solely for aesthetic reasons, but after installing the lift kit + wheel/tire package, we realized this mod was necessary from a functionality standpoint.
    Please excuse the somewhat shaky footage during the removing the bumper section. We did this mod on the fly after we finished adding the lift and realized we couldn't pull it out of the garage without removing the air deflectors. So, with very little camera battery, and getting later into the night, we did this mod on a whim! The rest of the video resumes to proper quality once we had time to prepare 😉
    The good news is you can do this mod for FREE. Whether you're running big tires or just want a more aggressive look, this mod is one you'll want to add to your list.
    We took this mod to the next level by repurposing the plastic from the air deflectors and using it to create bumper covers to protect the electricals on the inside of the bumper. This gives it a clean look, and you get peace of mind knowing your Jeep is protected from the elements.
    Stay tuned for upcoming mods and tutorial videos including how to recalibrate your speedometer, customizing the KMC Rockstar III Wheels, adding a new grille, and some preventative maintenance.
    If you have any questions about this mod, drop a comment below and we'll do our best to help you out!

    I may have missed it in the video, what is the chisel like tool you used to pop those clips off, called?
    You're Jeep looks amazing, by the way!

      Thank you! The tool is usually just referred to as a "clip removal tool"

    These pieces help MPG

      By removing it you probably lose a couple MPGs, but aesthetically, I think it's worth it!

    I hate how that piece looks. Plus, now I see why most leave theirs on. I haven't found a video on CZcams that informs you that there are wires exposed when it's removed. I wanted to buy the sport now I am second guessing.

    • @Snoboardinchick
      @Snoboardinchick  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Yeah it's super ugly! The Sports are solid because the price point is more affordable which allows you to use additional money to put towards customization mods which was important for me. If you end up going with the Sport, I'd recommend removing this piece and making the covers for the wiring like we did in this video. It's free, looks better and you can have peace of mind knowing you don't have wires that could get damaged.

      @Snoboardinchick I have a sport and a Rubicon gladiator. If you want to customize and go offroad don't buy a sport cause you aee missing out on swaybar disconnect which is huge and need to regear if you want 35s. But if just driving with stock tires or max light 33" on pavement the 2.0 sport is fun

    Would it be possible to cut the section between the bumper and fender without removing the entire thing? What do you recommend?

    • @Snoboardinchick
      @Snoboardinchick  Před 2 měsíci +1

      I wouldn't recommend it because you run the risk of making mistakes easier and possibly hitting the painted parts of the Jeep. Luckily, removing the whole thing and reinstalling was easy

    This air-dam affects your highway MPG. I lost 2MPG after removing it.

    • @Snoboardinchick
      @Snoboardinchick  Před 7 měsíci

      Interesting, but that makes sense. Personally I think the more aggressive look is worth it, but thanks for sharing this point for others to consider!

      On our 2 door JL with the 2.0 engine we went from 42mpg avg to 40 with it removed. Still way way better than our Gladiator with the gutless 3.6

    why not use the car lift?

    • @Snoboardinchick
      @Snoboardinchick  Před rokem +2

      We used the lift for the second half of the video. The beginning part of the video was filmed on a whim. We had just finished doing the lift video, then realized we couldn’t drive it until we removed the bumper. So we very quickly tried to film the process. But normally, yes definitely would have used the lift for the whole mod!

    Do you have to have the wind cowl removed in order to reinstall the trimmed peices?

    • @Snoboardinchick
      @Snoboardinchick  Před rokem

      Not sure what the wind cowl refers to, if it's the air deflector then yes, we removed that and then reinstalled the trim pieces.

    Nice job… question, did you lift the Jeep to fit the new tires?

    • @Snoboardinchick
      @Snoboardinchick  Před rokem

      Thanks! Yes, we did a 3.5" lift and then added the 35" tires. I have a video on how we did the lift as well if that's something you're looking into for your Jeep
