This comment rings true for all of us Detroiters old enough to remember Pistons in the 80s to 90 in real time (Detroit is one place where Michael Jordan IS NOT revered and Karl Malone IS despised). Zeke himself has said on countless occasions that wherever he goes, he represents Westside Chicago and Detroit.

He was untouchable to me after that 3rd quarter in Game 6 of the '88 Finals. Dropping 25...on one ankle, against MICHAEL COOPER...the best wing defender in the league...even as a Lakers fan and as a kid, mad respect for Zeke.

IT never had a sneaker custom made just for him and his game, he never had a chamber he could go in after a game to recover faster, no nutritionist, personal trainer, or a medical staff that even compares to what Curry has in Golden State. All of this plus he was getting beat up night in and night out by NBA big men who were tryna scare him from coming in the lane. Zeke stood toe to toe with everybody he faced and beat em at least once or twice. He beat Mike, Bird, and Magic. Curry is great but him and today’s players are basically male divas and its kinda unfair to compare them to players of the past.

I’m a Celtics fan, but I have so much respect for Zeke. Just an amazing player and, although I’ve never met him, seems like an amazing human. One of the greatest to ever play.
These two guys grew up in poverty and became the very best in their fields. They are truly awesome! Isiah is a true inspiration and has achieved the American dream through hard work and toughness.
I have a great respect for this man. His life would make a great movie how soon people forget that he was responsible for putting the Raptors on the map as a GM. He drafted Damian Sotomyer, Marcus Camby, Tracy Mcgrady etc...

Great interview, I’m very impressed of SS timing and questioning abilities. I love the knowledge of facts and history in this interview. Zeek is always a class act, his ability to be responsibly truthful, technically articulate and transparent is a lost talent. They need to make an IT movie 🍿🏀🎬🏆🎥
Most of the media personalities with podcasting dreams are shattered, actual players are taking over.
I've long contended that what Sharpe does on FS1 is largely an act. This was an incredible interview. I've known of Isiah since 1978. My cousin remarked about "this kid from Chicago" that also played. When WE (I'm a lifelong Pistons fan) drafted him. I knew it was only a matter of time.
What I enjoyed about the interview was them discussing the mental aspects of the game/grind. You rarely get that in depth in sports coverage nowadays. Great interview.

You see Isiah knocked Jordans teams out the playoffs 3 years in a row. Isiah beat Bird. Isiah beat Magic and Kareem. All during the golden era. Isiah prevented Jordan from winning anything until the 90s Stockton had a chance but failed...so he is bottom 5.

Another thing though, why is Dominique Wilkis so consistently glossed over when people discuss the greats of the 80s. Wilkins was EASILY 1 of the most dominant players from that era. The biggest difference between him and the other top 5 players between 1985 to 1994 is the organization that drafted him. Georgias College and Pro Sports teams are cursed and all Native Georgians know that but Wilkins should be lauded as 1 of the top 5 players in the entire NBA between 1985 to 1994 some SOMEBODY PLEASE put some respect on this man's name!!!

There is some truth to that statement. Jordan had that killer mentality but those pistons team really showed him what leadership was about and team play. He had it in college.
@@louiejordan6933 I would say the pistons abuse of the bulls molded the bulls (not just Jordan) tougher to the winners they later became.

Matter of fact it's theorized that since mid to late 90s after Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, and even Lennox in the early 00s, the heavyweight boxing division has't been as competitive because all of the best biggest and strongest athletes are now attracted to football and basketball.

@@Phillygoat1983 born in 76' I remember as a kid in the 80s Walter Payton, Dr. J, Larry Bird, and Magic being marketed like crazy to the youth by the NFL and NBA, and a teen in the 90s it became Dion Sanders, Ken Griffey Jr, Bo Jackson, and Michael Jordan.... with Kobe, A.I., Derek Jeter, LeBron, Michael Vick, Randy Moss and others continuing into the 00s to present day being heavily marketed by the NBA, NFL, and MLB over boxing.
As dominant as Mike Tyson was, he was never anyone kids strived to be on a grand scale because we understood we would never be able to do what he was doing in the ring 😂
