VELOCITY (S3E13) Clark’s First Manslaughter, Sam Jones III Battling & Street Racing PSA #smallville #talkville #season3 - Zábava
I hope Sam Jones III knows he's beloved by fans.
His portrayal of Pete was one of the staple characters that made this world believable. Best friends aren't always overly involved with your life, but they'll always try their hardest for you, and he portrayed the ups and downs of friendship perfectly with Tom.
Even when the scripts didn't give him much to work with or he's working with a Fast and Furious plot, he absolutely nails it. Rock on Sam.
Yeah that’s why he needs to be on the. Podcast before season 3 ends
I get the feeling Sam won’t do the show 😟
@Baddab35 probably. He and Tom were pretty good friends.
well said bud ❤️
@@Baddab35 I get the same feeling. Although the guys have been repeating the "Damn, who's that?" meme less often lately - maybe they're trying to pretend they haven't been sarcastic about him and one last chance to get him on the show.
One thing that I thought was made clear throughout the series is that one of the reasons that Clark is reluctant to share his superpowers with Lana isn't because he is afraid she won't accept him. We're shown often that she would. But for all of those other people, those powers were a result of the meteor shower, they were "victims" of it. Just like Lana's parents. And, because Clark came with the meteor shower, he doesn't want Lana to blame him for the loss of her parents or even to associate him with that pain.
Yes exactly. He doesn't just have powers. He sees himself as the reason her parents died
‘Clarks first manslaughter’ just makes me chuckle for some reason
Total lie though :P If this is manslaughter, he's manslaughtered a couple times before.
@@jerodasthe has...
I really loved Pete's performance in this episode, I feel like Sam always brought so much to the show. It honestly felt like a Fast and the Furious kind of vibe and I also feel bad for Jonathan because of Jor El. Thanks again guys! ❤️
That was the whole point of the episode having a Fast & The Furious type episode to draw in more people to watch.
Any who 😙
couldn't agree more. like we said. stopped in our tracks
Pete was a terrible friend and brought nothing to the show. This show never knew what it wanted to be. This show gets on and off track so many times and other times it goes nowhere. This show is not an origins story, it is a complete reintepretation of Superman.
So why are you here?
Y’all need to get Sam jones on here!!!!! I bet he’s got great stories
I think they've tried and he won't come on.
tried. a few times
@@TalkVillePodcast Sam might want to simply focus more time on present day opportunities, but I hope he does a few con appearances with Tom and Michael at least.
@@TalkVillePodcast wow, had no clue! I figured he’d be a great guest. Maybe his schedule is too busy? Idk. I hope he has good memories and not bad ones of the show
🤔@@audrajohnston2506
Glad to hear that Tom is willing to change last episode, "Hereafter" to 1 Rose in order to give "Velocity" a Heater because four Heders in a row are simply just too much!
Totally agree that "Sam gets 3 Roses!" Fingers crossed you guys are able to get Sam Jones III on the podcast before the season concludes!
I actually thought they might give this a higher score than I expected after talking up the Pete performance. That was my reaction rewatching it for probably the very first time since I first saw it 20 years ago - much better than I thought because there was a real Pete-Clark story and a villain credibly threatening Pete and his family which we don't really see. But I guess they really hated the car stuff to balance it out haha. I dunno, I thought it was better than "Delete" for example. Still no more than half a rose, less depending on my mood.
@@jerodast I had thought so too! I wanted Tom to give this at least one Rose, but I am glad to hear that Sam gets 3 Roses, and Tom changed "Hereafter" from a Heater/Heder to 1 Rose now! Tom's performance in "Velocity" is top-notch!
I think the difference with Clark telling Lana is that Clark isn't a meteor freak, he is an alien. If he was a meteor freak it would've been safer to tell her the truth about himself but it seems him being an alien is completely unprecedented territory. He had no idea how she'd react to that.
Plus, he knows how the world reacts and treats meteor infected and their loved ones. For the most part they are left alone (in hiding) unless they are dangerous or criminal. If that wasnt the case, then all of Smallville would have been quarantined and "disappeared" But w him being an alien, Lana and his parents would absolutely be made to disappear if his secret got out. So he had that weighing him down alot as a kid
Not only the massive ELEPHANT of his arrival on Earth leading to the death of her parents. I don't remember if that was ever visited when Lana *SPOILER ALERT* ********** ***** ***. I remember that was part of Clark's original aversion to telling Lana in the first place. He stood with her while she visited her parents' grave, all the while knowing that he's connected to it. I'm not blaming Clark, but surely any person could go down that path.
@Marvellous132 actually, I don't believe they discuss it together once they got together. they had so many separate traumatic issues to get over on their own in order for them to even get to a place of trying to go for each other. plus I think by time they do get together, Clark was just old enough to let go of that guilt recognizing that it really wasn't his fault. when he's 14, he's still a kid and that fear was too strong but after a year or so, he was able to distinguish the causality from the blame... is my theory about it lol 🤷♀️
😂😂😂 “Your dad, your real dad it's killing me; he's killing me”. Michael is hilarious
Sam wasn't in as many episodes as fans would have wanted. Pete was and still is a fan favorite character and we feel he was under utilized in the show. Pete the Boss Ross forever!!!
I think that's the board game checkers Clark brings to the hospital, not pizza. He brings the box in sideways. pause at 4:46. Love the show!
Yes ❤
haha I didn't even try to figure out what they meant by that, I just knew "uh I didn't remember any pizza"
How did they mistake that for a pizza box?
Sam always puts on a hell of a performance. Great to see him shine this season. Was sad when he left at the end of S3.
True. He should have left after season 4.
Pistol Pete 🤗
From the beginning of the Pod and hearing what Tom said, it sounds like every got a raise but Pete, so he walked
I think Pete’s character ended up sidelined a lot because of the addition of Chloe to the lore, honestly. She filled the role of Clark’s sidekick, essentially leaving Pete (and later Jimmy) pushed out of their traditional roles. They ended up with too many characters vieing for the same spot.
good point Mel
Yeah, and just like Tom has said, it's described an ensemble but really it's not. Most of the scenes involve less than 3 characters at a time and seldom do you see any dialogue w more than 2...
They start to do 3 and 4 in a scene more frequently in the late seasons, but if they had treated it as a true ensemble in the beginning they would have been able to have fully flesh out characters and stories.
It's not like WB/CW wasn't doing that back then cuz you saw it work w Buffy and Charmed.
But I think at the heart of the show it's a Clark/Lex origin story and everyone else is secondary. It always comes down to keeping them in the narrative spine. We just ended up falling in love w ALL the characters so it really bums us out when they are not utilized or explored to fullest potential.
This is such a memorable episode to me specifically because it was a Pete focused episode and it revolved around cars. It was also the first time seeing Clark being truly disappointed in Pete which was something we really haven't seen up to this point other than Clark getting annoyed with Chloe for prying lol.
I love you guys. Michael and Tom don't seem to realize. Clark blames himself for the death of Lana's parents, it's not about his powers. He thinks the meteor shower was his fault.
Yes he was feeling guilty about the meteors shower but it was also about his powers as well. One of Clark's biggest fear was to be seen as a freak because of his powers and his origin. Rewatch the ending scene of 2x05 Clark asked Lana: "it doesn't bother you that he (Byron) is different" b/c he was worried that she would see him differently if she knew his secrets. Or the episode he told Pete his secrets the whole speech he gave him about why he didn't tell him or anyone else. And when he told Lana in Reckoning the first thing he asked her was "do I you differently to you now?".
@@vbrandy7088in Lana’s case, his guilty for her dead parents made him less confident. That’s why he considered himself as a freak in front of her.
@@Patricia_Casares Clark felt guilty for the meteor shower that killed her parents but that's not why he felt like a freak. He was afraid of being seeing as a freak because he came from an another planet and had powers.
That scene between Lex and Dr. Teng will always be funny to me because of a hilarious blooper that took place. "Do what you do breast. Best."
haaha
Biology... (he said while intensely staring at her chest)
Normally Michael being pervy, I roll my eyes, but a) that was pretty funny b) next week is perhaps the only time I will consider it justified for Michael to ask Tom how he felt about the makeout scenes like he usually does haha
This episode was not really one of the strongest of S3, but it's enjoyable ( for me). It's Pete centric, and Sam did a good job here. The thing I like the most here is emphasis on Clark - Pete friendship, so it's more like real life situation than fantasy "side" of Smallville. It shows different, not that good side of Pete, and it seems that he is not always the most loyal friend to Clark.
seeing lots of heders
I don't really see this having anything to do with loyalty to Clark. Any obligation he had to Clark didn't even come up - and he's always been very loyal when that comes up. In this ep he just wanted to do something he felt good about for him for a change. That's fine...if it's not something as dumb as shady street racing haha.
@@jerodastHe tried to manipulate Clark to steal the money. Obviously, Pete was aware of his powers and tried to use him. That's not exactly "friendly" behaviour. Why do you think they had ( brief) falling out at the end of Velocity? Clark was very disappointed at Pete. His behaviour was appalling.
Next week's episode is AMAZING and I can't wait for the review! The whole Alicia story arc was so layered and nuanced and Clark and Alicia had so much chemistry. Here's to hoping that Tom remembers a lot more about the episode and the commentary does it justice
He will still dodge the kissing questions 😂 Rosie gets so excited and asks Tom about it every time, and he says he can't remember 🤣
whOOOOOle lot of chemistry
While I love next weeks episode I think when Alicia comes back in season 4 is when that arc really gets going.
@@zjheneenI always wonder how and why someone would remember a kiss from 20 years ago given for work reasons!😮😂

44:19 I love how Tom basically sums up the problems with sequels😂😂
It would have been exciting to see Johnathan from 'Dukes of Hazzard' go head-to-head with Pete in a race. However, it seems the writers hadn't dreamt of the concept, as they had John suffer a heart attack in an earlier episode, rendering it impossible for him to participate in a race. It's intriguing to think that if they had timed the heart attack to occur at the end of this episode or in the next one, it could have set the stage for a thrilling race between John and Pete, with stakes like 'If I win, you quit,' adding an extra layer of suspense to the plot.
Especially when they do the car thing in season 5 with the senator anyway, he was doing fine there even with the condition, why not here before right before the condition?
The next episode, “Obsession” is one of my favorites. Top 5.
I hope they don’t rip it to shreds!
I'm calling bullsh^t on that dude's death being all Clarks fault. Clark didn't make him get in that car to race, he didn't make the guy rig Pete's car to explode, prompting Clark to do something to save Pete. That guy died as a direct result of his own actions; street racing, black mail, and attempted murder! I'm not saying he deserved it or Clark shouldn't feel bad that someone lost their life, but let's not pretend that he didn't play a role in his own death.
I love Tom saying I think that is your next song, because it actually is a Sun Spin song
It was a missed opportunity to not keep Sam on for another season or two. I know a lot of other big name stars and cameos were coming but… Pete was Clark’s first great friend. It would have been great to see them friends till the end of the show. Pete was there for Clark when no one else was, aside from his parente
Shout out to you guys , I`m all the way in Guyana South America , I loved Smallville growing up through hihg school this was the show that i looked foward to seeing the new adventures , there are only a few shows after smallville that came close to capturing that wholesome values , im 35 now and i still enjoy looking at this show, best ever Lex Luthor and best ever Clerk Kent , you guys were amazing
The fact that Dante died is what makes the ending scene so good
TGI Wednesday!!!! New one and with a lot of Pete!!!! What an amazing performance of Sam Jones III, t’s surprise me how Pete was involved in this story arc but this arc was perfect to explore the relation between Clark and Pete and what friendship means! Very sad moment the last scene of the episode. Agree with Ryan favorite scene too! Much love guys! Thanks for another rewatch episode!!!!
I felt for Pete in this episode. It must be hard for him, he wants to be something else than Clark’s sidekick. And Clark has to do some shitty things he wouldn't do, just to save his buddy… Like his moral compass got a bit crazy, Idk
For season 3x14 you have to bring the woman who played Alicia; you just have too she was awesome.
she was fantastic
Sarah Carter. awesome enough I remember her name haha
My favorite part about this episode was listening to you guys talk about movies! I can listen to a whole podcast talk about what movies you grew up watching & enjoying. Along with ones that you don't like or movies you wish you could be a part of.
My favorite part of this episode was the BIG Crash scene, and the unsettled ending between Clark and Pete.
Whether it's this season or his appearance in season 7, I really hope they can get Sam on the podcast eventually. It would be so great to see him
I hope so as well.
I think Pete saved the day with this episode of Smallville his performance was brilliant and I loved the discussion about the types of films you all like or don’t, also the behind the scenes information was very interesting. Thanks for another entertaining week❤
Just discovered this show a few days ago and seriously considering rewatching smallville. Unpopular opinion maybe but I loved the earlier seasons!!
Season 2 and 3 were some of the series best. Only season 7 and 8 beat the original three in my opinion.
The early seasons are my personal favorites
@@alexanderl9721 Seasons 3, 6, 8 and 9 are clearly the best, I think.
Not unpopular at all. Quality wise 2 and 3 were the best.
I really liked the whole show. Early seasons have that character development that can really keep your attention.
talkville baby! wednesday is sooo much better with you guys :)
42:02 Tom would be a good analyst, he is a good listener and assertive in his interventions!
Crazy how our youth revolves around this show. Sounds tracks take me back. And best episode is labyrinth s6 e12
Labyrinth is such an incredible episode! It boggles my mind that no other Superman writers ever came up with that concept before, and it was so well done that it actually makes the viewer question the legitimacy of Clark’s reality.
@@mandyrobbins2160 it made me question mine. 😂
I’m enjoying all this, but gosh I can’t wait for S4 and.. Lois 😍
Maybe the Actors don’t agree but I think the show gave story episodes to ALL the characters. Again just another reason the show was so good. The viewer got to see their favorite character shine.
They did, but Pete certainly seemed to get less than the rest.
@@spencergsmith yeah not sure how much "you acted well in this dumb episode" is "shining"
They did, but I think what the actors mean and what the fans really want is for it to have been made more of a full ensemble of storylines. Look how much they were able to explore on Buffy, which lasted only 7 seasons, they had 1 lead and 6 other main characters. Or charmed, they had 3 leads and 2 other main characters.
We wanted that for Smallville, to see Pete get full development and to not have so many plot holes around Lana and Chloe.
They do a better job fleshing out side characters in later seasons, once they include justice league storylines but by then the production value declines (they don't use film any more and rely more on CGI) So it doesn't feel as cinematic and epic...So basically, we wanted it all lol
Lol this is why Michael is always wondering what it would be like if it was made today in a streaming service. Cuz we want the stories of smallville, but to be movie quality every ep. smh lol
@@asyouwish3636 Maybe we don’t agree here. This was a TV show that took it upon themselves to write their own storylines and didn’t always follow the comic books. We know they wanted to tell Clark’s life leading up to becoming Superman. That allow them to give us a new episode each week. I don’t think their intent in the beginning was to give us continuing storylines. Because of the different storylines they were able to use all the characters on the show. It’s true that Lana and Chloe drama was stretched out. However those characters getting more screen time could have been because of ratings. Before social media that’s all they had was ratings and who showed at meet and greets. I’m not saying the “Pete” character didn’t have fans maybe just not as many as the other characters. As far as the quality I think for a TV show they did a great job with their effects at that time. I don’t agree with you and Michael on streaming being better. TV and theater quality is always different. If I want the see something with better effects I will go to the theater otherwise I would rather enjoy a weekly episode on TV. Streaming takes to long to make and I HATE WAITING TWO YEARS FOR 8 EPISODES.
Oh man, this episode was really hated on back in the day. It was a filler episode and not the most intriguing one. The writers felt bad about marginalizing Pete in season 3 and this was a way to make up for that. But between the Fast And Furious vibes and the lame villains, it just didn't connect.
Personally, I warmed up to it a bit. Clark's morality is really at the forefront and I loved his realistic response at the end. Sometimes you don't easily forget what a friend did.
Definitely better than I thought, watching for the first time in 20 years. But only for the Pete & Clark dynamic, the main story was blah for sure. Before seeing it again, I thought this would be the one to make the guys get too sick of the show to keep going haha, but it wasn't so bad. I might have been confusing it with the early one where Whitney falls in with a bad crowd.
Long Live Pete! May he never be forgotten as the writers forgot him.
While most villains on the show generally accidentally kill themselves (Tina Greer impaling herself for example) I'm sure there's been a few where Clark's involvement was more than a bit questionable. Like the ice guy in season 1 - Clark threw him into a lake that froze around him and it was never mentioned afterwards if he survived.
For real. Maybe it's that the show has turned down the amount of villains who conveniently end up dead at the end of a confrontation with Clark in the last season, but the guys seem to have forgotten about all that. Didn't one of the characters even call Clark out for it, in the show, and he had to basically defend himself like "those were all accidents"? This seems exactly the same. If you're speeding (and so bad at driving) that a single car spilling its fluids on a country road turns you into a fireball, it's your own fault haha. Sure Clark mildly contributed to the dangerous conditions, just like all those other times. Didn't seem that different.
The coach in Hereafter doesn't make it either...But also I think that's cuz Clark is so young and still learning, and is only a fraction of this full power. Superman would have less casualties in same scenarios cuz he's more experienced and his powers have leveled up. Tom is so good, it's hard to remember in the moment that Clark is still a kid.
Interestingly there are (likely unintentional) ties to both the earlier and later Flash series: The later Flash series also had an episode where a supporting character get lectured on drag racing by the main hero. And the earlier Flash series had the hero commit manslaughter in an incident involving a car.
This was a good Pete centric episode. The storyline may not have been the strongest, but Pete had great moments with Jason Dante. The racing moments were fun to watch though.
Was really hoping Sam Jones III would make a special appearance...He knocked it out of the park in this episode.
Clark isn't holding pizza in the clip, it was a checkers box lol
Michael's uncle: "Wanna play a round of checkers?"
Michael: "Nah I just ate"
@@jerodastlol
The "going off tangent" bit in this episode about film culture and favorite action movies etc= you guys should definitely do a review channel after this! It's fun listening to you discussing whatever film you want to discuss and not be so tied down to Smallville and the episode of the week.
Since I first saw this episode back when it aired, I was always convinced Lex left the car keys there on purpose. He obviously wanted to help Clark but he couldn't just give him 20 grand cash. First, Lionel is probably watching Lex's bank accounts and would call him out on it. Secondly, I don't think Jonathan would have approved of a Luthor giving 20 grand to a 16-year old. The fact that Clark took the car keys and it wasn't handed to him, Lex made sure he helped him out without actually participating.
I have to assume that's what we're to make of it, but it all feels very weird compared to how it usually goes. Like, if it's a test of whether Clark would borrow his car, it's a pretty random one. I feel like normally (or if this was Lana...) when Lex gets asked a favor from Clark, he wouldn't just hand over 20 grand, but he would get "his people" to fix the situation, maybe by cutting through the corruption at the Sherriff's office and getting the dude arrested for real, or threatening him to back off. It is weird he would hear "one of my friends could get killed without this money" and he's just "that's a shame" haha.
There is a split second in the scene where lex's pilot says the chopper is ready an lex turns an looks at the porche keys then the camera turns to Clark who looks in that direction then lex moves his coat an there are the keys he was definitely hinting
I like when Pete gets a little bit of focus. Sam was definitely an underutilized asset throughout the show, and I was really disappointed when he left the series, although not really surprised either. Kinda felt like the writers didn't know what to do with him.
Sir, you would be correct. The writers didn't know what to do with Pete. His return episode was A perfect example of it but I think they didn't know how to write high school students period.
Mad tv.
Sam was given a raw deal. He ended up being the add-on minority trope. This is the character who became Vice President and later President in the comics, married Lana, and was Superboy's pal before Jimmy Olsen became Superman's pal. Pete should have run for office (mayor) against Lex. Lana and Pete should have gotten married after a falling out with Clark. So many misses opportunities.
Agreed. It still irritate me how they treats Pete.
100% agree. I always found it so weird that they didn't do more with him since Pete Ross is a very well established character in Superman lore. It's not like he was created for the show like Chloe. They should have at least teased at a romance with Lana and had he stayed on the show, they should have started the Pete & Lana romance after her and Clark break up. And after graduation have him pursue politics. He already had the antagonism with the Luthors so it would make sense for him to run against Lex. So many wasted opportunities.
The thing is the writers weren't following the comics for everything, they wanted to have freedom and often made their own choices like for example killing Johnathan. Also not everything that was in the comics could work on screen like Pete and Lana getting married for it to work and be believable Kristin and Sam needed to have chemistry. If they wanted Pete to have a future in politics they would have hinted his interest in politics during these seasons. But it's clear they were never planning on keeping him around for the long run cause he was just in and out of the episodes most of the times and was never given his own storyline outside of Clark.
@@vbrandy7088 True. That's one of my gripes against the writers.
The reality is some characters really work and some don’t.
Lionel was supposed to be a one off for the pilot and then they brought him back because of how well he worked on screen. There is limited money, there is limited screen time…
Hope you can get Sam on the podcast before his time on the show comes to an end. 💯❤
I love how Ryan is!!! F&F is just about family 😅😂😂😂
Thanks for S03E13! 🥂🥂🍻🍻
Love more Pete! Also I don't believe it's manslaughter on Clark, it was self-defense. He did something to save himself and inadvertently caused someone already doing something dangerous to die.
Agreed. It was to save himself and Pete, and he certainly didn’t know that his actions would lead to someone’s death.
Clark was just trying to escape. He didn't know where the other car was or what was going to happen THEREFORE Clark DID NOT KILL ANYONE.
The guy who trained Keanu Reaves for John Wick said Keanu actually shot that quickly and very accurately while moving quickly at the range.
I always look forward to Wednesdays because of the podcast. Another great watch/listen. I always enjoy the analysis of the episode.
Michael and Tom have always had a nohomo mancrush on Pete, I knew they were salivating to get to this ep 😂
I loved hearing how different Tom & Michael's taste in movie genres is, even if it was not about Snallville. I love those conversations!
What's up,man. Did you know: the writers tried to avoid classroom scenes because it wouldn't look right for Tom Welling.
@@DarthDread-oh2ne I didn't know that, but thinking about it now, there's only a few classroom scenes that come to mind
@@clonedavenger Very ironic, considering Clark is supposed to be A "High School Student."
Love this podcast and y’all. I highly enjoyed the amount of Pete in this episode. Hopefully Sam can make it on the podcast. No John Glover in this episode. He was not in the last one as well. This episode also contained a blooper. When Lex says Doctor you now breast instead of best. One of my favorite lines was when Lex says to Chole that Privacy laws don’t phase you. Also when the Sheriff says that the barn was as clean as her Grandma’s pantry was awesome. Ryan Merriman was on The Pretender as a young Jarod. I love how Lex knows that Clark took his car and he tries to get Clark to admit it. Clark just acts like it is nothing odd. I enjoyed the line when Jonathan tells Clark that not everything is black and white. Love this podcast. Hopefully Sam got to keep that jacket. A car race between Jonathan and Pete would have been good. Also Pete and Clark did cause someone to die in a car crash. Sam’s reaction to that was great.
Best part about living in Australia is the midnight listens.. .so much fun listening to every week, even if I sacrifice my sleep schedule…thanks for an amazing episode as always… definitely not my favourite episode of season 3 but it is an interesting one to see how Pete’s character deals with his own hunger for this power and attention. Definitely shows how jealous one can be without powers and when given the opportunity to be in control, then it really shows how reckless they can be
*reckless
Is that a common colloquialism, in Australia, or are you just saying that because it’s midnight there, when the show is uploaded? I know it’s about midnight there, at 10am where I am in the U.S., is why I asked about the time.
When I was in high school, I met a native woman, who used to say “…the night is always listening,” when we started going out to her Medicine Wheel get togethers.
People would make stuff, trade things and just hang around a fire listening to the older folks talk about what it was like for the natives there, in the past.
That was in the 90’s. Sad, she was one of the last people, with any blood relation to her family’s tribe, and she never had children.

_Wreckless_ would actually be almost the opposite of _reckless_ , if it was recognized as a word, with definition, roots, etc.
@@CorbCorbinOkey dokey.
13:24 Clark was a HUGE boy scout in this episode
Sam did great in this episode. Agree with the heater rating. Besides Sam's performance, I could take it or leave it. Loving the show guys. Keep it up!
whole lot of those scores this week
@@TalkVillePodcast shame...same thing happens at end of S2..string of like 4 duds b4 last couple eps... but I think the show was saving it up for the awesom finales 🤷♀️
Great episode, 2 roses for me. personally i would say its the most memorable in S3 outside of shattered and exile. The final scene was the best scene, another signature Smallville music moment. Emotional! Will you guys ever have Sam on the podcast?
Love these so much!!! I grew up with you guys and am so proud to see how you are both so close after all these years!! I am loving going through these episodes with you!
When Tom mentioned Pete got his start racing motorcycles and it was a 'gateway' to hot rods, I don't think Michael got that he was referencing when Pete and Clark raced dirtbikes and found the cave. Or at least I was hoping that's what Tome was doing, was a great reference if so.
Just discovering this now and seriously considering rewatching smallville. Unpopular opinion is I really enjoyed the early seasons ❤
Do it! I'm rewatching for the podcast, show is even more enjoyable 2nd time around
Love the insights. Appreciate how you try to keep the comments equitable across you three and not have one person dominate. Love the different perspectives, which keeps your podcast unique vs. Others. Keep up the great work on podcast!
I always considered Clark's first manslaughter to be Sean, the body heat sucker in season 1 episode 5 Cool, because he literally shoves him into the lake and then he drowns, but maybe it's not 'cause Clark was defending himself.
And wasn’t that guy already dead because he drowned in the lake and came back as a body heat-sucking zombie?
Yeah I feel like they forgot how death-y early confrontations with Clark tended to get.
Maybe meteor "freaks" don't count huh?
As always, love the talk. I do love the performance of Sam in this episode especially with the tension between Pete and Clark. Sad to see but great performance.
I love how I come across your guys channel, the algorithm is insane cause I’m rewatching smallville right now. I’m on season 6 episode 16, much love guys keep up the great work you’re doing amazing.
Algorithm. Spied on. Either way. You're here! 😊
I can’t get enough of the Sheriff impression. 😂
Just thought of this: Dante's Inferno. Dante was a great name for the character. Also anyone notice how Francois Yip is similar in some ways to how Kristen looks? That's the Chinese and other country DNA. Amazing.
I feel bad for Pete. His family gets destroyed by the luthors, gets rejected by Chloe, never fulfill his goals in life, and his inly return episode was terrible.
I agree. He comes back and the effect of the power, which was a lame one, is the equivalent to being on drugs.
@@claytonr.1886 Not to mention, he STILL had feelings for Chloe.
I always wondered why the creators never explored a Pete and Chloe relationship
@@victoriachannell8251 Because they thought it would be more interesting if they did A love-triangle between Clark, Lana, and Chloe.
Back then they weren't really comfortable showing interracial relationships on TV and movies
Loving these Podcasts keep up the great work my guys
What a legendary podcast 🔥
What a legendary username 🚋
Tom trips me out with them safety glasses
Love Michael’s take on action movies and sequels.
Pete was one of my favorites, and I wish he would have stuck around more. Lol, sometimes he did get on my nerves, though 😅❤
Agreed. He should have had A relationship with Chloe.
This episode truly shows how gifted Sam Jones is and I would love to hear more about Sam Jones experience on Smallville b/c there was so much more he had to offer especially since he was the only guy that Clark could talk to in his age group. It's unfortunate that this is the second to last episode that really shows the skills of Sam even his final episode isn't as good as this one from a Pete point of view. I think that this was an opportunity for people to see how good Sam. I don’t know if you notice but Todd and Darren are always writing exceptional for Pete. I’m always interested in how Tom was new to acting in smallville but he learned to be so efficient. I truly think the character of Pete takes a huge nose dive even though he returns in Season 7. That episode is really inconsistent to the character that sam has spent the last 3 years creating. I also think it would be cool to have sam on the line and here about his experience
Obsession. I loved this character, Alisha. I wish they made more than 3 episodes with her. Clark and her had the best chemistry.
I hope you get Sara Carter on next week as a guest she played Alicia in that episode.
I said this before, but I’m halfway hoping they save her for season 4 cuz of all her appearances would be summed up by then
This episodes are a gift
Awesome pod! Awesome analysis!
Clark's inhibition about telling Lana wasn't just about his powers. It was also because he was an alien and also indirectly responsible for the death of her parents.
Another thing they forgot about is that those guys with powers Lana dated turned out to be psychos. Some of them even tried to kill her in the end. So Lana don't really have happy memories of superpowered boyfriends.
yuppp seeing that a lot.
That and Clark's arrival led to the creation of many of those psychos.
When this episode came out there was a lot of people racing cars, which the Fast And Furious movies inspired ... js, there was a reason for the psa message in this episode.
Another Great Wednesday
Sam’s acting was sooo good! Still bummed his character wasn’t more like his in the comics.
I like Pete's Jacket too and Pete's Performance. I like Tom's Glasses he looks really cool. I like Michaels spirit energy in this episode and Ryan's Haim band shirt is really cool
Velocity is Pete’s episode, that ’s obvious !❤ And about friendship wich can lead us ro do dark things 😑! Sam’s acting is perfect and unanimous 😍😍! Exciting TalkVille about your movies preferences !😊🙌🙌 Michael, Tom, Ryan 💙❤💖
Tbf Michael is right re say like John Wick as obviously he couldn’t survive most of the things that happened to him. But give Keanu Reeves his props for doing the majority of his owns stunts in his 50’s now late 50’s.
Onyx 4x17 episode should be the next talkville podcast miss this show so much way ahead of its time still currently watch it to this day 💯🙌🏽🙌🏽
Great episode, enjoyed the conversation about SmallVille and movies! Michael I agree with you 100%!
Wednesday mornings are the best!
Tell’Em Steve Dave.
Given Jonathan's aversion to TV it would be funny if he didn't know that the song he liked in an earlier episode was the Dukes of Hazzard theme and he just liked the song. It's a catchy enough song even if you don't know the context. Certainly that would be a way around him not noticing that an actor in that show looked like him and that Jack Jennings also looked like someone on that show.
Always remember Smallville.
Mike the stunt guy with the kryptonite bar is awesome. That stare!
Please oh please do the reading of Michael script!!!!!.... and how is that idea for a aminated Smallville series going?!?! .. another great podcast as usual guys.
Heater. The beginning of the end for Pete Ross.
