I wish they had spent more time in the Underworld. It was treated as a pitstop more than anything. Yes, the movie is basically a road(boat?) trip story, but the Underwrold was too in-and-out.

I would have liked to see the scene when toddler Moana almost drowns in the movie because it would give her father more of a reason to keep her away from the ocean.

I'm glad Pua was left out, it avoided the cute sidekick trope and replaced it with the inept idiot sidekick. It adds comic relief and Alan Tudyk voicing a ridiculous rooster is brilliant.

Deanna Foster I despised Hay Hay and was originally on board for Moana because the movie teased for her little pig companion. I was disappointed when he got nearly no screen time at all.
I also hoped Pua would have more screen time, but I don't mind Hei Hei that much. It provided some comic relief in an otherwise heavy setting.

tanner lawley I've just had my fill of Becky's and Gerald's man. (finding dory) I'm just.. mehhh. I originally jumped on board because I loved the fact that they were going to include Pua. I am the biggest fans of pigs as well so call me biased but pigs are #1. I can go on and on but just eh.
I love seeing all these ideas that they had. I really think they made appropriate cuts and the movie is amazing thanks to their good sense of story telling.

I believe a few movies followed by a tv series would do "Moana" justice. From what I have seen, Polynesian culture and it's people, aren't covered in depth in cinema. Wether it be on the big screen or small screen, I haven't seen it.
IMO, "Moana" has the material necessary to capture a wide audience and bring exposure to these people and their culture. Like, who doesn't find all of this fascinating?!

The baby scene with the water was one of my favorites it would have been so different if they changed it from a happy one to her almost drowning
I love the concept of Maui having a goddess as a grandma and that she guards the underworld and I like that Ta Kai's name is different. I'm glad that Moana does not have 9 brothers as she wouldn't meet Maui. Love your videos!

Shayla McGregor In reality Polynesian families are big in numbers. Very normal & common to have 6-14+ siblings. Moana is suppose to have alot of siblings especially brothers. But I see why they had to change it. Would've been nice since in real life Polynesian girls are surrounded by bunch of over protected brothers..

The fact that Disney artists have been thinking about putting the little piggy 🐷 on the boat with Moana makes sense since she is on the boat with Moana and Maui on the official movie poster.

Moana in general felt very rushed for some reason. It was really good, but the pacing felt odd at a few times. Sometimes they'd take it too slow then suddenly its quickly-moving. Like the beginning was a bit drawn out about her town and her relationships, which is okay, but then her adventures with Maui felt rushed and its like a "quick stop and onto the next stop" kinda thing and that ruined the total rhythm of the movie in my opinion.

Anonymous Candle well there's a large range of accents in Britain and habits of how to pronounce words vary. I've heard a lot of people with a British accent kind of add an 'r' sound to words ending in 'a'

An r sound? Cant say I've ever come across that but depending on how i say some words, take Moana for example, i can sort of hear it? Though it's more of a drawn out a, though i can see why some people might mistake it for an r
I think I like the direction they ended up taking with the movie. I would have liked to see more of the underworld, but I'm hoping that gets explored in a sequel.
I love that the creators made a book all about that scenes that were cut and stuff it lets us know where they were going with the original storyline and how it ended up the way it is, and it inspires people that there are multiple ways to do something

I thought his antics were a little much after a while, but it was a nice change from the usual "helpful animal side kick" that we usually see

It's amazing to me how much was initially put into this film and then stripped away! I'm super happy how Hei Hei turned out since he's my favorite character in the film. I also wish that the 8 eyed bat had a bigger role....a montage of monsters Maui and Moana would have overcome would have been phenomenal and a great look into the creativity of polynesian monsters from Disney!
I think it would have been a cool idea to keep the goddesses that guards the underworld. Mainly because it would give more of an idea of Moai's character and past

This is one of those movies where I'd actually not want there to have been some of that extra stuff because the movie ended up so perfectly.
If they make a sequel, they should include some of the original concepts.

It seems like a lot of the deleted scenes were traditional mythical characters. It would've been nice to see more of the culture emerge for the viewers who may not have known as much about them. I would have LOVED to see the Haka scene!!! That would've been amazing with Dwayne tapping into Maui's character while performing something he is so amazing at!
I would've liked to see the headless collector a giant who had an impeachable sense if feel and the eight eyed bat would have been initial to the mauis wife story and if they added some of the monsters shown on some tapestries in the beginning with her grandmother would've been extremely interesting

When I first watched the movie, i couldnt help but be both distracted and fascinated the entire time by the strangest thing, i dont know why..i just kept thinking about it. Probably because it looked so odd in a disney movie. Moana has flat feet. I noticed it straight away. Then i got thinking, that makes Moana the only disney character who has flat feet, so in doll format, she is the only one who does not wear heels..she is the only one who can stand up on her own two feet...weird huh? anyway that just fascinated me the whole way through, maybe thats why i like her so much. I was also disapointed the pig wasnt in it that much. Also something else has just occured to me, there is hardly any interaction, verbal or non verbal between the grandma and the parents, or any one else in the village. She claimed to be labelled as the village "crazy" lady, but we like..never see her in the village or anyone giving her looks. I found the land of monster place thingy to not be explained enough and i wish it was as well as the crab. And the first song didnt have enough build up and was a bit random. I wish there was more back story on the characters. My favourite part of my film was when the grandma came back as a sting ray and the ocean lights up. Also, the whole "demi god" thing has a lot of potential, a demi god can be given two definitions, one being a half human, half god child. But maui's parents are both human so? unless he doesnt know? although you can become a demi god after you die? so maybe maui drowned in the ocean when he was a baby and the gods brought him back which makes more sense in the imortal aspect. That was really long and confusing but thats just my thoughts on moana, i feel like the ending was also done so in a way so they can make a 2nd movie...who agrees?

I was also saddened the pig was not in the movie as often as the trailers made it out to seem, but at least we got HeiHei right? Yeah? Anyone?! ;-; Moving on, you're right on the lack of evidence the grandmother and the other islanders, but most of Moana's growing up was through a song, where we did not get to see terribly much interaction in the first place. However, it was shown that the grandmother typically spent most, if not all, of her time at the beach dancing or wading in the water. Whereas most of the islanders stayed away from the ocean unless they needed to fish and even then they did not stray too far. I believe that was evidence as the grandmother "isolating" herself from the others, and the others leaving her well enough alone because she was "different" to them. I also wish they focused a bit more on the monsters, it would have been even more interesting of a movie ^^

I'm fine with the first movie. Adding a sequel would not only be unecessary, but wouldn't be that good as far as storytelling goes
