Just saying, the plot isn’t “Good vs Evil”; Te Fiti IS Te Ka so I don’t understand what you mean.
I’d say that the plot is actually character driven, and about finding your way in life, who you are and what makes you who you are. Moana becomes a wayfinder and finds her role in the island (she also sings a song called I am Moana); Maui finds validation and shifts from needing to please humans to helping from a place of compassion. He also comes to understand that he is more than just his hook and that he makes himself Maui. And Te Fiti literally loses her heart which causes to also overlook her sense of self until it’s restored by Moana- who is singing that about this precise thing.
You should probably go back and watch the film for real...?
PREACH and maybe while he's watching he can learn how to appropriately pronounce things.

Yes. But the water stayed still in front of Moana, and her footprints were at her back, so it wouldn't be possible for the water to move through her and erase her footprints.

Right! Even though water isn't shown moving above the surface, there is still water in the sand. Makes for a very moldable yet unmoldable surface. The footprints can disappear even if the water doesn't touch it from above.

I know this is really petty of me - but it annoys me that he doesn't pronounce Te Fiti correctly. Because that story line is so prominent in the movie - and her name is pronounced constantly... it makes me wonder if they actually watched the movie.

Speaking statistically, the "greatest" movie has many factors as to why it is the greatest. It also depends on what is meant when the word "greatest" is used in this situation. Unless you have watched every movie and have done actual statistical research as to why it is great then I wouldn't call it the greatest. This is my opinion. Lol

You should do continuity editing for big name filmmakers & animators! You seem to have a knack for it... I didn't even notice ANY of these *huge* continuity errors when watching Moana myself & I'm usually VERY observant. I, too, jyst kinda naturally look for continuity errors in movies/shows... I find these errors are mostly in live action movies & involve props that have been moved in between shots & didn't get placed back properly before reshooting the scene... Animators seem to generally catch continuity issues better than live action film makers, I guess animators prolly spend more time on the individual frames & scenes than filmmakers do.
This is A LOT of continuity errors for an animation!!!
In mistake no 5 Moana and grandma are wearing necklace and in next shot grandma is only wearing the necklace .Can't believe they missed it 😂😂😂😂
these are no mistakes.. it's all about the composition, focus point and removing unimportant details which would distract.. wasted 9 minutes of my life, including writing this comment

In the first mistake the birds weren't hunting birds, and that was why she was trying to get the turtle to the water. In the third mistake the angle was different so the leaf just wasn't on camera at the moment. In the fourth mistake we saw the track from the fish! It was behind her footprint! In the fifth mistake it never saw the pig when she was a baby! The next mistake the chicken again wasn't shown when she was younger. Therefore it was born later on. In the 7th mistake when his hook "disappeared" he put it down so he could steer the boat. The 8th mistake she had gone over to the water in a completely different spot from the sticks so the sticks weren't on camera. The next mistake Moana moved the hook so she could talk to Maui. In the 9th mistake the pole changed lengths because the water dragged it down farther. In the next mistake she closed the lid because she didn't want Hey Hey to get out. In the next mistake the ships surrounded them because they were coming in for fight. In the next mistake the chicken ate the food. In the next mistake the camera angle was inside the mouth, so it looked like she was in the mouth, but in the next scene the camera had moved. In the next mistake Moana's father took the basket away. In the next mistake, first of all there could have been two Mauis and second the picture that was originally "next" to Maui was clearly shown the background. In the next mistake the coconuts that disappeared were clearly shown caught by other people in the background. In the next mistake The camera was at a different angle so it looked like the handle was pointing the other way. In the next mistake the stone could have been kicked into the scene when the scene changed. In the next mistake the water could have washed up the rock, and Moan's head was completely blocking view of anything that could have been there. In the next mistake the camera was at a different angle. In the next mistake the boat was a completely different boat! In the next mistake the bullet was from the attack. And in the last mistake the shark was Maui, demi god and shape shifter.

Those aren't mistakes, the animators did that on purpose. They didn't accidentally animate something different in he next frame and not notice lol.
