Maybe someone said this already further down but the villagers' tattoos aren't designed to look like Dwayne Johnson's. He has traditional Samoan tattoo designs called Pe'a and so do they. Tl;dr: it's not an Easter egg, Disney just did a little bit of research about the history of the culture Dwayne Johnson descends from independently of his own tattooing 😂
Johanna A. Florez Yes finally someone understands the traditions of these islands. In Polynesia or any other state in the federated states of micronesia it is traditional to have a tattoo. These states have different traditional tattoos, it is just part of our culture. BTW I am from the federated states of Micronesia so don't say anything about me not knowing anything about the culture
Brigida Mcintire I don't know much about it but just reading about the development of Moana introduced me to some of these traditions. I'm glad Dwayne Johnson learned more about his ancestors' traditions. It introduces a lot more people to it and reminds me to explore my own heritage all I can.
I believe that during some of the behind the scenes and making of videos the creative team said that the important/main characters where given his tattoos. Ie. Grandma Tala, and Moana’s parents. The shoulder and wrist tattoos are the ones I remember they pointed out. The rest were just traditional tattoos.
Do people really not know that? I can't imagine why the creator of this video would think the creators of Moana would include those tattoos because Dwayne Johnson has some.

That is unlikely. The How to Train Your Dragon films were produced by Dreamworks Animations. Which is completely unrelated to Disney, and Moana.
