I've had both. The Evo 10 was Way more involved and fun while the GR Corolla is an infinitely better daily driver and it's just so much more civil. The Evo also never felt front wheel drive biased while even in the 70% rear wheel mode the gr Corolla feels mostly front wheel drive. The Evo X looks way better in person and the gr is still pretty Fugly but it's growing on me.
Honestly, I don't even need to watch this video, the Corolla any day of the week... Which is kinda fun as I almost end up purchasing a restyling Colt RallyArt that copies a lot of the design elements of the Evo X, thankfully I spent a bit more in an Abarth 500.
@@JustDriven At first I was a bit scared of it. The only car with over 100hp I had driven before was my dad's diesel Opel Zafira (130hp), but putting even more (with the mods mine had, it must be around 170-180hp in sport mode) in such a tiny ball was like driving with cheats in a videogame, it just throws you around with no effort whatsoever, yet being FWD and with relatively big wheels it sticks to the ground like a vacuum cleaner. I can't do a simple comparison with anything I had experienced, is just its own thing. List of changes for those who might be interested: This is a 2008 Italian unit so 1.4 T-Jet with IHI turbo as a base. 305mm floating Brembo brakes in the front (with these you can already do stopies) Koni FSD suspension kit with Fiat Coupe bump stops Forge front mount intercooler (bigger than the Biposto) K&N air filter Xenum XPG 5W50 engine oil Bonalume L5A short shifter Castrol Transmax Manual V 75W80 transmission fluid A bunch of other confort and aesthetic tweaks here and there (custom pearl white and black paintjob, KAC tail lights, carbon fiber rearview mirror caps, huge floating head unit, rearview camera, red leather interior panels, 2016 model door sills and pedals, DIY Scorpione gear knob, etc.)
That's so great! You've got lots of love for your car and we appreciate that. So many people are never satisfied. It's great to see you lovin' your car!
They are both great for different things. Not particularly interested in either, but I'd probably take the Evo X since it's becoming a historical piece.
@@JustDriven yah but my blown Mustang would have to move over. I am a rare anomaly a JDM guy with a love for American Muscle, at least of the Ford variety
If i had the choice of those 2 cars today, I'd take the Evo. It has become iconic. Let's see if Toyota keeps the GR going long enough to become more than a 1 hit wonder. Although I really love the GR, especially your tuned version, there is just something about the Evos. Say Nissan only released the R34, it would still be an incredible car, but without the GT-R heritage, it's not the same. By the way, I love your channel because you guys just give good car lover's content without gimmicks or stunts or clickbait. Keep up the good work!
We appreciate the support! We try to provide great content without all the gimmicks. We hate the channels that do that shit. The Evo is an iconic Japanese car. Just like the STI, the Type R, The GT-R, and so on.
But the Evo X has had quite some time to permeate in the JDM and general car culture, the GR Corolla and Yaris only started breaking into those circles a few years back, and they have already managed to become relevant and have a huge presence. I think this is a sign they they will become huge in the future and maybe even more if we consider they might have came out just before the end of an era, as electrification (or at least hybridation) of cars seems to be the way to go these days.
The Evo seems to have taken a wrong turn in terms of styling for many Evo lovers. It's a more swollen version of the originals. The GR Corolla is its own identity. So it doesn't have to live up to any previous version of itself. But we are surprised how many people would still take the Evo over the GRC for this video.

Great input. And we agree with you on all points.
Definetly Evo X

The Abarth seems like it would be a fun lil car!

Finding an Evo in decent condition is not easy.
@@JustDrivenagreed
Go Evo X!!!! (Gotta rep the Evos!!!) LOL
Sounds like the Evo is winning this battle.
EVO X all day long. It would look fantastic sitting in the garage next to my EVO 1GSR
That would be so awesome!

Nice. We love our GRC.
GR Corolla with 4G63 engine will be a monster 🤫
That would be a fun project.
Evo X
As good a the gr corolla looks, Im not sure it will achieve the performance legacy the evo has. I hope it will.
Yah, the Evo had lots of pedigree to back it up.
No contest. GRolla all day.
GReat choice.
Both are awesome but if I had to choose it would be the Evo x
Lots of Evo love.
I choose the GR, if the Evo was an 8 or 9 I'd go for those
We can't fault you for your taste.
