      Histsugaya I feel like should be part of the special war. He’s young, powerful enough to be a high tier captain, so imagine if he was older. I mean his fully matured hyorinmaru was to able to freeze Gerald and all of his abilities in its track. Like that’s a big deal. Mayuri easily. I was rewatching the animated arc in dub, and his dub voice actor does a VERY good job displaying Mayuri’s disgust at the head captain’s negligence throughout the course of both Cours. Overlooking his desire to surpass Kisuke was a critical oversight on Yhwach’s point. He saved the Vizards, worked in tandem with Kisuke to propel Ichigo up to the royal realm, he saved both Toshiro AND Zaraki, two captains who would become top tier later in the war. He figured out a way to stop Bambi and Gigi in their tracks, and saved Ikkaku and Yumichika as well. He managed to take down the left arm of the soul king, at the cost of Nemu, but in turn has the means to make a new and improved Nemu in the future. He has absolutely stepped from under Kisuke’s shadow. Any smart villain would seek to neutralize him first going forward.

    As tommo said, the main factor that unites all the special war powers is that they have an unquantifiable variable, making them seem unpredictable. Ichigo and Kenpachi didn't fully manifest their potential, Aizen can evolve with the hogyoku, Urahara has vast foresight and can calculate unforeseen scenarios, and Ichibei's knowledge knows no bounds. I think that's why Yamamoto wasn't on the list, aside from spite. As powerful as he was, he was still calculable, meaning the Vandenreich could form a plan around him - which they did, ending with his defeat. This justifies why other powerful characters - like Ukitake, Kyoraku, the Vizards - weren't on the roster either - they are extremely powerful, but they are also calculable (if you exclude Mimihagi, which the Vandenreich likely had no knowledge of).

    I believe Yachiru (Retsu) Unohana would have been a great pick. Mainly for her bloodthirst, sword style knowledge, and ability to damn near resurrect people non-stop. She was part of the original 13 Court Guard Squads and was seen as a mentor to a lot of people. She could also be a little muddy in how soft she potentially was but I feel like someone with healing ability to that degree should be seen as a threat due to how they can keep the battle going longer and longer.

      I don't know, she gets immediately sidelined to bring forth Zaraki's true power. So it'd be pointless to add her. Not to mention, I think a couple of characters got her beat on "healing." • @sharpshooter4529
    @sharpshooter4529 Před 6 měsíci +7

    I think there are pretty good reasons as to why some of these characters weren't counted as a special threat...
    Firstly the lack of information on Ukitake is a factor.Ukitakes deal with Mihigami was certainly a core threat to the grand scheme.But we can presume Yuha wasn't aware of this.
    Secondly regarding Mayuri.Yuha just didn't have enough information about him and what he was capable of...His overall showing up until the TYBW where limited...Even almost dying to Uryu (i would guess this would be a reason too).Yuha made the list based off what certain characters did up until the war started.And from what he could conclude Mayuri was basically a much inferior version od Kisuke.Because Kisuke was the one that indirectly defeated Aizen with his plan.
    And Kyoraku is kind of the same...He was only really put in a position of leadership when Yama died.So.there was no way for Yuha to know what his successor would be like.And plus he probably didn't know what his bankai did.
    Regarding the last two Grimjow and the Visards...I think Yuha probably concluded they where overall too weak to matter.Consisering how he decimated Harribel.

    Tsukishima, if Yhwach have ever met him before, I'm sure he would create mental damage that change quincies to be on his side (since most of them don't have strong enough will except likes of Jugram, and a few), imagine he perfectly control Gremmy. And don't forget his BotE is literally "The Almighty Killer", "The Balance Breaker", and possible "The Antithesis counter (since he can insert himself before antithesis could activate to alter the outcome)", all of these makes Yhwach considered him to be 6th war potential if he has ever met him.

    I believe Orihime would've been a really good major war power because of the fact that she can reverse the state of seemingly anything within her Sōten Kisshun barrier. Healers are often a priority in magical battle because of how quick they can send back an adversary previously defeated to the battlefield. Somebody with powerful and fast healing abilities such as Unohana is quite the threat, but Orihime goes above and beyond that as she doesn't heal, but reverses the targets state. No matter how deep the wound is, she can restore it - even bringing the dead back to life.
    Among each character, Orihime, Maryuri, and Ukitake should've been the top 3 individuals that the Quincy should've aimed to killed before they started the war. They didn't know about Ukitake's secret, so that's understandable, plus him and Mayuri are pretty heavily guarded within the Gotei 13, and are powerful themselves. Orihime however, is extremely vulnerable and should've been a MUST for them to kill before the Quincy showed themselves. Just imagine when they did get rid of the actual war powers, Orihime comes in and brings them back. She is too dangerous.

    • @cameraredeye3115
      @cameraredeye3115 Před 6 měsíci

      There's one major flaw with your argument: yes, Orihime's power is incredible, but both she and her Shunshun Rikka are the definition of glass cannons. If they get taken by surprise, or if the enemy is strong enough to overpower them, they're instantly done for. Tesla, Nnoitora's henchman, made that fact crystal clear already, as did Yhwach when he stopped toying around with Ichigo and Orihime. Hell, even Yammy proved as much when he didn't take even a scratch from Koten Zanshun, and the part of her Rikka that made that attack was critically injured.
      Do not forget that Orihime is a weak human at the end of the day. She isn't a Soul Reaper, or a Quincy, or even a Fullbring. Just a weak ass human who has virtually no reiatsu whatsoever. A mere Soldat footsoldier is enough to kill her off completely, never mind a Sternritter.

      @@cameraredeye3115 I know, I also mentioned that in my post about her being very weak, or vulnerable in my case. But that's not the point, and neither did I talk about her offensive abilities because they're no where near viable enough. What matters is Sōten Kisshun. Orihime should stay away from the front lines and be left on standby to heal and potentially revive those who have fallen, especially the most needed allies; she is support. What you told me is how her offense and defense are weak, but that's not what I talked about at all in my post. Her supportive healing ability is what matters here and is what makes her so dangerous, and that's the prime reason I believe she should be a war power.

The reason being that she seemingly won't die or seems to be "unkillable" to put it in a way that Yhwach probably would. Every time somebody thinks she's dead or lost, she wins. • @TauonTu
    @TauonTu Před 6 měsíci +6

    My guess as to why the Vizard's bankai's COULD have been stolen is due to their Shinigami and Hollow powers being distinctly separate, and thus their hollow reiatsu isn't actually apart of their shinigami reiatsu or bankai. On the other hand, Ichigo's shinigami and hollow powers are effectively the same thing, and thus trying to steal his bankai is equated to trying to steal a hollows power inherently. That still doesn't explain why the Vizard's didn't use their hollow powers regardless, but it at least explains their bankais.

    I dunno about this one Mr.Tommo. I mean when you look at the Hollow's which are my favorite characters and how being a poison dagger they could be in the back of the Quincy. I think either we are missing the obvious or Kubo is just not making much sense here. I mean Hollow reiatsu is deadly and sure we can say Visords and Grimmjow should be a venom like foe but if this was the case then one would think invading Hueco Mundo was a death wish with the entire place made up of Hollow reiatsu and Hollow's, Espada, Vasto Lords running around and fighting back. However we know the Quincy just steam rolled right over them. So as I have said, it must be something we are missing or Kubo just is making a mistake here. I never understood how Hollow reiatsu was said to be like a poison to them but walking into the viper pit of Hueco Mundo was just easy to them. I mean it was to be taken first which ment the Quincy could afford losses before attacking the Soul Society. I think Kubo should explain this in more detail and give us some answers but I am sure it will take years before we get an answer.

  • @cd5sircoupe
    @cd5sircoupe Před 6 měsíci

    I like this list, everyone mentioned could definitely be in the running for a spot. But it did remind me of probably one of my biggest gripes with how TYBW played out: The Vizards.
    I understand from a practicality standpoint Kubo wanted to showcase their shinigami power since we barely saw any of it previously, and that there was just a lot going on with time running out, but once he introduced the hollowfied bankai pills that was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. Sure, that works for the regular shinigami who either had their's stolen or couldn't use them for fear of being stolen, but you're telling me that the guys with hollow masks couldn't bust out their hollow powers when they do super effective/critical damage to the enemy?
    The fact that a reason had to be created afterwards to explain why they generally didn't use their masks is telling enough. Kubo could have easily added like one or two panels of Kensei explaining the reason to Hisagi while he was out in the rukongai with Mashiro... but I'm willing to bet he hadn't thought of it yet. And to be fair, the anime could have done this like they added other additional context elsewhere, but they didn't. Guess we'll have to see if an opportunity to bring it up again in the last 2 seasons comes up, since we know there's gonna be more significant changes there. Until a character outright says they were banned from using their masks within Sereitei for whatever reason, I don't buy it.
    It's been awhile since I've gone through cfyow/safwy so I don't recall if it was stated there, but I take those two with a pinch of salt either way. I view those as like half canon anyhow, and you know damn well if they decide to adapt some of it in the anime it's going to be revised somewhat with Kubo more directly involved now.

Most of the Elites have very plausible wincons against him, and Uryu+ he just outright can't beat. Yama could wipe out the Sternritter that were never important in the first place. All of the other War Potentials could do something to drastically change how the war played out. Ichibei could've killed Yhwach himself, Ichigo could've grown to be stronger than Yhwach and take him down, Urahara, Kenpachi, and Aizen could've taken down Elites. • @wakamoon1910
    @wakamoon1910 Před 6 měsíci +2

    I don't think there's much debate to be made here, based on how the other war potentials performed and that the bankai stealing was a big deal in helping determine the list hence why yamamoto got rejected, then it can only be mayuri. man not only took out multiple sternritter, he actually won his fights without the usage of his bankai, bonus points as well on pretty much saving the lives of other captains and shinigami in the same way urahara's contribution in the war was preventing others from dying by giving back their bankai rather than he himself taking out threats.
    btw I think an interesting video you could make is on how much the war might have turned out if urahara didn't develop the hollow pills to return bankai. keep in mind that while not having bankai would severely disadvantage shinigami on top of giving them to the quincy, there's some points to consider:
    1. there's bankais with drawbacks and risks. komamura's bankai will reflect damage to the user, mayuri's spews poison that is based on his blood so only him and nemu aren't affected, kyouraku's affects the main user too, shinji's affect allies too, kenpachi himself couldn't handle his, etc.
    2. no volstandig usable, sternritters can't access the full power of their schrifts on top of not having an emergency save/escape on them. ex. as nodt wouldn't be able to break out of rukia's shikai, bambietta would't be able to easily blow away shinji(who might eventually have used his mask to take her out), cang du and bg9 saved themselves with volstandig though technically that's due to the enemies bankai nearly doing them in, also brings question how much would ywhach's royal guard be effective without their volstandig.
    3. a number of shinigami have improved themselves to fight without bankai on top of some them probably being more careful. byakuya's shikain has shown he can defeat as nodt in volstandig on top of downing 2 sternritters, rukia and renji were already moping the floor with just their shikai, soifon and toshiro were just in a really bad matchup, komamura might not have as much damage but he'd still be immune to damage. kensei and rose might have also lasted longer if they didn't get overconfident in being able to use bankai.
    4. just speculation to make it a bit more even, lets also assume that when they are in volstandig that means they can't steal bankai anymore or that they can't just choose to use volstandig over bankai if they stole one. basically lets say if the sternritter are impatient or in a desperate position to go volstandig then they can't take a bankai at that point, so like mask, gerard, askin, lile, etc. wouldn't be able to take bankais they were facing since they are using volstandig.

    • @wakamoon1910
      @wakamoon1910 Před 6 měsíci

      forgot to also add that even with the restored bankai, how much were the captains that got stolen actually helpful throughout the war? soifon did practically nothing past "beating" bg9 who was gonna recover, toshiro admittedly might have kept gerard at bay if byakuya didn't shatter him, on that note byakuya was already very strong with his shikai after the royal palace buff and actually might not have shattered gerard if he hadn't had bankai, komamura might still be able to clap bambi or shinji would have but at best he might have just downed another sternritter or done nothing against ywach before being useless for the rest of the war.

      Mayuri had one actual fight vs Pernida. He needed his bankai and Nemu. Nemu really won him that fight cause his bankai did not stop Pernida. He himself lost his legs in the process. Again Giselle it was the revived captains that beat the zombie army but he did not kill her himself. His countermeasures were specific to minor scenarios. Urahara restoring and hollowfying bankais turned the tables of the war entirely up until Ywach made it to the royal realm. It evened the playing field when the shinigami were being slaughtered left and right. I don't see how you managed to overlook that. Had they not got back the ability to use their Trump card, the shingami would have effectively been ended. Urahara also was the first to act in this war when SS was still getting their bearings. Urahara took Ichigo and invaded HM starting the first analysis in the story for bankai medalizing. There's literally no comparison on the impact Urahara had vs. Mayuri. Urahara also created multiple paths to the royal realm and sent contingency forces. He's by far and large the superior strategist and only Aizen matches him there.
      Shunshi was literally making the tough calls in this war after Yama died. It was largely his decision making nd leadership that lead to the G13 surviving.
      Mayuri had an impact overall and deserved an honorable mention, but going by the story, defeating Pernida was his crowning moment. Beyond that, he really didn't do much to give the shinigami a fighting chance. Thr zombies are really not a big addition because that was a focused battle with specific people. By this point in the story, Rukia, Renji and Byakua post reio training were clearing house on much more powerful Sternritter and Ichigo was beasting through the battlefield trying to get back to the royal realm. Alot was going on at different points that didn't require Mayuris assistance nor his zombies.

    I like how Ichibe got more reasoning behind hus wisdom potential in the anime. Not only was he preparing Ichigo, not only is it confirmed that he lured Yhwach and the Schutzstaffel to the Soul Palace to eradicate them (possibly their way of aiding the Gotei 13) but he is also the one who sealed away the Almighty. Making his wisdom the main reason Yhwach lost the first war.
    Also, Yamamoto wasn't turned down from the position out of spite due to weakness. It was because he was no longer an unknown. Originally, Yamamoto was someone who used anyone and anything to kill his enemy. How do you plan for someone who is so powerful AND that ruthless? You can't, they have no weakness to exploit. But current Yamamoto has gone soft, and that left him vulnerable. Yhwach could now make plans to deal with him. Which is exactly how he lost. Yamamoto is proof that power level has nothing to do with being a war potential. The closest you get is Zaraki, but even then, it's the unknown factor, having no idea how strong he is, that made him a war potential.
    Mayuri isn't an unknown. His merits don't matter. The fights with the Schutzstaffel prove why Urahara was chosen and not Mayuri. Mayuri was in a desperate state, and nothing he did worked. Ultimately, he had to he saved by Nemu having a spontaneous evolution and acting independently to survive. Urahara meanwhile was in control from start to end. The fight was over before it even began. Askin never had a chance. In fact, Pernida could he argued as showing how a fight between Mayuri and Urahara would go down.
    Shunsui's strategies are more common sense than anything incalculable. Obviously youd train Zaraki. Obviously, you'd try and ally with Aizen when desperate enough. Once again, it's not an unknown.
    I agree with you about Ukitake.
    Interestingly, I don't think the Vizards are immune to Bankai theft like Ichigo. They aren't perfect hybrids. It's unlikely that their Zanpakuto spirits are hollows like Zangetsu. In fact, I think that was confirmed by Kubo, but I can't remember for certain.
    I'd argue Halibel would be the bigger war potential because of her infinite combat potential. Her rez state would be particularly nasty against Quincy. Which would further explain why Yhwach delt with her personally.

    Shunsui because of his battle strategies.

His sheer determination to never quit and ability to keep reinventing himself time and time again are dangerous for starters. Besides this he is wise and has a calm, collected way of thinking. His cunning and elegant fighting style allow him to make perfect use of his broad skillset. Mayuri didn't really do shit when it came to Yhwach's personal goals, though. I take the War Powers being the individuals that are threats to Yhwach, not necessarily the Vandenreich.
      So, Kisuke is there because he is entirely unpredictable in what he does whereas Mayuri is more straightforward as a scientist. While Mayuri does a lot to upend the Vandenreich, he doesn't have the same ability to really get in Yhwach's way. Kisuke, on the other hand, can do a lot behind the scenes that even Yhwach himself can't plan for and most of those plans will already be in motion by the time he gets access to the Almighty again, meaning he can't 'see' them coming.
      That's why Kenpachi is there, because the Quincies don't have accurate data on how powerful he actually is. Hell, even Kenpachi doesn't know how powerful he is thanks to only recently awakening his Zapakuto. Ichigo is there for a similar reason. His mixed heritage makes him a complete wild card amongst the rest, with the potential of his power being pretty much beyond anybody's comprehension.
      Aizen and Ichibei are both there because they are the only ones with the direct strength to challenge Yhwach. Even Yamamoto, whom is directly more powerful than any of the other War Potentials, isn't enough to challenge Yhwach and his powers are figured out too much to be some potential threat down the line.

But he came in clutch SOOOOO many times over the series and helped save both Soul Society, other Soul Reapers, The Zanpakuto Spirits, a handful of Arrancars, and the Ryoka countless times from behind the scenes. Plus, without his inventions and tech, much of the story wouldn’t even have progressed. He’s also one of the few Captains that you could probably actually stop and have a conversation with without getting killed on the spot. Especially if it’s intellectual one and you stroke his ego. ** HOWEVER, Shunsui Kyoraku is a very close second for his decisive leadership in the TYBW Arc that led to their victory. Looking at overall achievement and over the entire course of the series tho, I still give it to Mayuri for being the 6th Special War Power.
