- Taking a quick look at the harbor freight drywall lift.. I had a job i had to do which involved getting 13'-6" pieces up to a 9'6" ceiling. i thought this was the perfect job to get a lift. it definetly made getting the job done a whole lot easier!!
we go over the specs, features and show it in action.
Concise and well presented tutorial without any fluff, or distracting music playing. Excellent job, thank you!
A HUGE thanks for creating this video! I'm working solo on a ceiling job thats coming up and was on the fence about buying this unit. HF has it on sale for close to what you paid for it and after watching your video I'm pulling the trigger and buying it tomorrow. Like you mentioned in an earlier comment its better to work smarter than harder. This should alleviate the dreadful shoulder and back pain when doing ceilings.
Thanks Again
Appreciated your unboxing and demo. Clear and concise. Made purchasing vs renting from HD an easy choice. Thanks for taking the time!
I borrowed my neighbors and have never used one. You did a great job instructing the proper use and assembly.
wow this was a great video thanks! Just went yesterday at Harbor Freight and got my New Years weekend 20%. Paid 169.99 plus tax. For a total 185 bucs, like you said its a no-brainer. Thanks so much for this great video!
I have seen these before, but never being used.....nice job! Looks like a real back-saver!
These are the way to go to save your back. I am a HF fan boy but did find it cheaper in Ebay, 125.99 delivered. HF right now is 215.00. I used to hang a lot of rock back when I was a young buck, but never used these as they are too slow. Now my back is shot and I am older and wiser, so a lift for me. Great video, keep them coming.
As soon as I started on the instructions I knew there was a more detailed video. Thank you sooo much. 10/11/2019
sndtrk3000 glad it helped!
Great video. It took me some reading of the instructions but the square pin connected to the mast is another safety feature to go through the lowest hole on the mast when in the up position to catch in the event the two breaks fail.
Thanks for the instructions.
Buying one of these tomorrow morning.
Thanks for this review! I've been looking at getting one of these for some jobs I have at home. This is super helpful.
thankyou for the assembly vid,I just bought one and looks pretty easy throw together now
I did not know how to use this at all. thank you. Great Video. 👍👍👍
Great video. Doing a basement remodel now, and a friend lent me this same tool. Thanks!
Used the same lift when I was doing my sunroom. It worked out great.
Very informative! Thanks for posting this!
Complete and logical - a well executed video. Thanks!
I bought one several years ago, used it to hang sheetrock in a 24' x 36' outbuilding with 10' ceiling. Worked ok, made the job easy. Was able to hang sheetrock by myself, but loading a sheet on the lift arms isn't quite as easy as you would think. I still have it for future use.
Mark Chapmon its a orange handle on Home Depot for sheet rock
Rehabbing an apt. I gutted, bought this (I'm 67) and love it. I call it "Pedro", just in fun!
Now I know what that hook thingie is for. Oh, for the sheet above a tub, you can unlatch the leg spread and get the mast pretty close to it, then shift the sheet over when you get it up. A little tricky, but better than a sprain.
My mast won't go into the leg base so easy; has to be perfectly in line. I lower the empty cradle with one hand on the wheel so it doesn't slam down.
Not afraid to take on any rock job now; ceilings were my limit. The real fun is the finishing though, where I can shine!
man that was totally awesome video
I realized i forgot to show how the lift wheel extends out away from the mast in the video.. it just puts it in a little better position to crank it up, it can be used either way actually.
the picture on the box in the beginning of my video shows it in the extended position
yes for me I extend the wheel away from the mast.
Yeah that way you dont have to go under your sheet to start cranking up.
well I glad you pointed that out, you should reshoot video. because I was thinking "what a moron" Hey being honest., thats not a convenience feature. Thats to protect the operator from being under a heavy load. even without a load, the rack weighs enough to give you a good smart on the head.
The fold up feature allows it to be stored in your truck or trunk compartment more easily.
The Clincher: If you needn't read the instructions, why did you feel you were an expert to to do a How to video??? I'll answer it for you 55,000 views. America is in great shape! 2+2=5
Very useful tool & multipurpose aswell. When Im doing roofing I put a plywood instead of a drywall then flatened it at 180 degrees then I put a bunch of shingle bundles on top & cranked it high to the roof easy 😂 since then I never carried bundles up the stairs ever again. Im so SMART 👌😎
Thanks for doing this video.
your welcome. glad you found it useful
Hi, thanks for posting! Just want to ask if it is possible to hold and lock the panel position in different angles, or is it just in 2 positions (semi-vertical and horizontal)? Thanks!
Great video. Just scored a brand new one on craigslist for $100.
Thank you 🤠
Nice work
back in action guys, stay tuned for some more cool videos let me know what you think1
sorry the lighting andeven the cound got a little crummy at one point, i think i know what i need to do to avoid that in the future
Has anyone ever changed the cable on 1 of these lift? Mine ripped. Haven't seen any videos about it on youtube. Plz help
Curious if someone can tell me... How stable is this at a height of about 8 feet? I have an odd task not related to drywall, but involved lifting some large speakers off the ground at about 8-9 feet for photographs and I’m thinking this item could be used to act as a large platform to set the speakers on and lift them. I just have concerns that the items standing on the platform could fall off as this item appears to be a bit unstable. If so, I’ll have to come up with other options.
Awesome Machine....
I wanted to see you put the sheet on it!
Not bad for the price. It will do the job
Do you know what that key is used for?
I bought the same one a few years ago well worth the money
regopit44 nice, how has it been holding up for you? we have been muscling sheets around up till now, and really dont even do a ton of rock but i decided it was time to start working smarter rather than harder when we do!
NERemodeling It has held up just fine.I use it 3 of 4 times a year to do ceilings and have never had any problems. If I where to guess I have had it about 4 years now. I have rocked whole rooms by myself with this thing.
So is it still holding up as far as quality
Nice video. But, I'm trying to figure out what the square key is used for on the side?
thats the same reason I came here too.
could you, please describe the pouley system settings of that lift, cause i'd like to make on.
adel kl hey, I recognize I’m a bit late with my response. Are you still in need of clarification?
My 50,000 BTU Mr. Heater is needing replaced with the same unit. It weighs 75 pounds, do you think I could put a piece of plywood on top and use this to get the old one down ad the new one up? This is a great video by the way. I love Harbor Freight. I just bought the New Hercules miter saw during the black friday sale. Looking forward to using it. I'm just joe homeowner, but a major hotrodder. How do you not buy that saw. I even passed up the $500 RIDGID on sale for $300. Yes I did. Paid the extra for two years and now I have a 3 year no questions asked exchange warranty! Yea baby! Please let me know if this sheet rock jack will work, thanks.
wheelstandr Did you ever try the lift to raise up your new heater and bring down the old one? Just curious,as I think I’m about to buy one of these. Thanks!
Rented a drywall lift just long enough to place a tricky drywall sheet in my mom's ceiling.
I had prepared the rain-damaged area the day before & was able to completely remove a previous 4x8 sheet, revealing the surrounding sheet's edges.
The sheet to be replaced ran about 5"x12" under a cabinet's top edge. It was very hard to get the sheet in place due to the cabinet & a nearby light fixture.
I got the sheet close and installed enough temporary screws to hold the sheet ALMOST flush to the joists while I ran to the next town to return the lift because the rental time was expiring.
When I returned to install the final screws and completely seat the sheet, the opening was about 1/8" too tight.
I'm working alone and don't think I can remove the sheet & install it after sanding or rasping the edge down without a lift.
Is there any way to accomplish this without completely removing the sheet? I assumed the opening was perfect for a 4' width. Bad move, I know.
Hey @TortureBot . You should be able to take a utility knife and cut off the edge that is giving you trouble. maybe loosen a few screws on that side just a bit so it isn't pinching the existing sheet too much. just keep cutting multiple passes with firm pressure until the knife cuts all the way through and you have the clearance you need. Dont worry about it being a perfect joint either, if it look a little rough after this, once taped, coated and sanded you will never know and it wont affect the integrity of the repair! Good luck
Thank you for the advice. Another person who answered the same question I commented on a different video said to use either a Dremel tool or something similar to get that result like you're talking about.
What is the flattish rectangular pin with the washerlike head for ?
This is the most mysterious feature of any tool I’ve ever known. No one knows what that mystery pin is for. Directions don’t say. Harbor Freight has no idea. I’ve tried fitting it in every hole or crevice in the tool and it doesn’t fit anywhere.
i just purchased one today worked great the only thing i was wondering about that know one seems to know what is that damn eyebolt key looking thing hanging on the side?
+Nick j I bought one a few years ago, and I need to use it again. I forgot what that eyebolt with the welded washer is used for hence here I am on google to find out. Did you find out what it is for?
+Dasdfjkl I don't really know what it's for but it isn't necessary for the use of the tool... maybe it is an additional safety measure? will It fit through the holes on the height extension shaft and act as a foolproof safety against a failure of the lift crashing down?
Can this hoist hold the sheet for wall? Or just ceiling
Both ceilings and walls
very cool, thanks for the video
if you use these types with the wires everyday....check the wire once in a while....
I think Home depot rents them for $45 half day. I needed one for a lot longer than that, so I bought one at E-bay for $85.
Great deal!
for me, its cheaper to buy, then sale on CL and recover my money. Well I hope....
Did you not look at the instructions or even the picture on the box? You never extended the crank arm into proper position. When you had the panel on the lift, you were fighting with the crank under the panel because you didn't extend the crank arm.
That crank week pulls out farther
If you are looking for a way to hang panels on walls by yourself check out hangprolift.com. The only tool made specifically for one person to transport, lift and hold panels on walls. Never have to lift a panel again when hanging walls. Works with upper and lower panels.
Every the ad says it is!
Just bought it $90 bucks used on facebook marketplace
You said you were going to make more cool videos and review a bunch of tools, then you quit. What happened?
150 lb rating............. China Claim, Them so Silly!
eBay delivers for $120 ...
Realy
@@brucekwak2420 Not sure about when they said that, but right now you can get them for around 125 delivered. Whether they are same or better quality compared to HF? Who knows.
I bet there are a lot of people out there ready to throw out their 2 by 4 dead man wood drywall hangers ? We. Weekend Warriors no we had made them one time or another you know how you are I’m just saying
