I remember seeing SC ranked 6th or 8th in preseason, and thinking, "yall really think a Dawn Staley led South Carolina team that just went to the final four won't be a top 5 team?" And then, they destroyed Notre Dame, got 1st place in the poll the next week, and never left that spot. You're right, this was a historic run that should be more talked about.

Opposing teams' worst nightmare is the longevity of this team. In the 2025-26 season, Raven Johnson will be a redshirt senior, Kitts and Watkins will be seniors, and Fulwiley and Tessa will be juniors. That alone sounds like a brutal starting 5, then you remember that if everyone else stays, you have a healthy Adhel Tac in her "redshirt" sophomore year, Joyce Edwards and Madisen McDaniel in their sophomore seasons, and Lord knows what kind of crazy new class of wonder-freshmen waiting in the wings.

The 23-24 South Carolina season has set the stage for a potential multi-year level of dominance that no sport has ever seen. Anyone who comes to SC would come knowing the expectation of trusting the process because it is 100% proven. @@maxpower247 It really was just one major flaw, and that was perimeter shooting, which she fixed with Pao Pao + recruiting Tessa & Milaysa as well as Raven's improvement from behind the arc. I remember after SC just smacked Maryland, Brenda Frese said she thought this team was better than last year, and people thought she was crazy - it turned out, she was right...Well, tough to say. Last year's SC team was the best in the country, but played mediocre & Caitlin was outstanding in the biggest game - had it played a series not one game, they definitely would've won the title, but that's what makes the NCAA tourney so fun. But, losing, correcting the mistakes, developing players into this, and then coming back and winning it all is just BEYOND impressive.

You broke down South Carolina's anatomy with precision. I said the same exact thing about Malaysia Fulwiley. She's gonna have a helluva junior year as her IQ levels up, which we'll see the immediate results in the next season of just her sophomore year. I believe what Coach John Thompson was to Georgetown in the 80's and 90's, Coach Staley will be that to women's college basketball. South Carolina is gonna be a manufacturing plant of talented ballers because of Coach Staley's ability to unearth raw talent and her development skills as a coach.

Speaking of the transfer portal I think a lot of star players or top recruits across the country are starting to realize it’s more than just stats you got to have the wins to show. It’s great and all to be averaging a lot of points and but in the end you’ll want to win it all and that just wasn’t happening for a lot of them. If not win at least a good chance at making the tournament or having a good run. Players need to make conscious decisions when choosing schools and understand it’s a team effort. Wishing everyone the best in the transfer portal because I’m honestly tired of seeing players transfer every 1-2 years.

Caitlin Clark is probably the best shooter in womens college basketball this year. I'll give her credit for that and I can only speak from seeing her play against SC. From what I saw, I really wasn't that impressed after the first quarter. Yes, she scored 30 points but, it took 28 shots to get 30. She shot like 40%. She's not a great overall player. She's definitely not much of a leader. She continually passed the ball to her teammates instead of taking open shots in the final quarter. She was sloppy with her ball handling, and I don't remember her doing much of anything on defense, and she was super protected by the refs.
