    Would love a dyno to check how much power my cars have kept over the years. My 1991 Caprice classic with its less than eager 5.0l V8 which is also running pretty rich, I bet has lost double digits from its around 160-170hp from the factory, meanwhile I bet my other less thirsty cars have kept more of their original figures apart from my 74 Sunbeam Avenger. Can't wait for Dumpit to step up and flex its muscles.

    Hmm, yes it does seem to suddenly flat-line at 7000. Revs increasing but the same power output, which is odd. Maybe air flow meter or fuel filter restricting the flow? On the other hand, soot does rather indicate over-fuelling, so engine temp sensor? Being a J reg, I'm not sure if it has an O2 sensor for closed loop control.

    You absolutely want to rev it even past max power and not at max power because the when you shift you will fall further from the power band if you shift it at just max power!
    Even on the dyno it will tell you when the engine starts to fall on it's face....

    • @UPnDOWN

    I have a 1000cc 4-in-line with an 11500rpm redline engine, but it lives in the frame of my Kawasaki Z1000sx motorcycle. Would the rolling road still work if I spin just one roller?

    • @NBSV1
      @NBSV1 Před měsícem +1

      @@d33b33 The rollers should be linked together so it’d still work. I’ve dynoed motorcycles on a car dyno before. But, it tends to be harder to do since they’re not setup for it and have a lot of extra mass.
      They make special single roller dynos for motorcycles that work much better. They have better tie downs and less mass in the roller.

    • @UPnDOWN
      @UPnDOWN  Před měsícem +1

      The driven rollers are linked but the idler rolls aren't, and if there's a descrepency between them, it aborts the run as it assumes you have wheelslip.
