Welcome to my take @ The Lake 🦀-so glad you found us! This channel is dedicated to sharing boatloads of information, new ideas and maybe some different twists on old ones about junk journaling, altered books, glue books, watercolor, and all kinds of other paper crafts related to those things. It’s geared for new junk journalers, but everyone’s welcome to play along. So, please: pull up a seat, find something delicious to drink and let’s hangout for a bit.

When you talk about other channels it always reminds of the story about the farmer and the corn. I can't relay the whole story but a farmer always wins the Gold ribbon at the State Fair for his corn. A reporter asks him his secret, the farmer says his secret is to share his corn seeds with his neighbors. If his neighbors grow better corn when it pollinates his, his keeps getting better. Moral of the story, when we help each other we get better too. Or something like that lol Don't quote me or anything lol
Exactly! Love the corn-farmer story. MUCH rather a blue ocean (co-operative, the "competition" if not non-existent is irrelevant) than a red ocean (competitive, cut-throat, everyone hanging on so tightly to what's "theirs" they can't see how much more they'd have if they let go a little). As a tech challenged person, I am happy to have a son who is also a Mac head! He loves all things, Apple! He is better than tech support! When he goes into the Apple Store, the tech guys ask him questions! Both my sons are Apple nerds. My other son makes sure I have all the gadgets. The latest watch at Christmas and those ear things…air pods pro? for Mother’s Day. Me? I am the reluctant, petulant, mom who has been drug into the technical world kicking and screaming still longing for my kitchen wall phone that never died in the middle of a call and was always in the same place with the long springy cord stretching to a comfy chair and fun to play with when on a call. Ma Bell at her finest!
Loved your glue book! My dedicated glue book is my color coded pages one which I recently found during my massive reorganization. All my other “Gluebooks” have junk journal tendencies. I think I might start one with just my favorite things!

The way you covered the words on the page with a liftable flap is such a great idea - that way you can still read the little blurbs in the future without them distracting you while you’re flipping through. Totally related when you said you covered up the people on the island because you liked that place to yourself! 🤣 Going to Ireland must have been a fabulous trip. 🇮🇪

Completely agree about mentioning the channels that influence us - it’s a win-win all around. I feel so honored (and frankly shocked) when someone mentions my channel. I’m like, “me???” but it fills my heart with appreciation. (I mean let’s be honest, if it weren’t for shout-outs I’d probably only have like 2 subscribers lol!) So I always try to tag people that influence me as well.

Ireland was a DREAM COME TRUE trip, I studied there my 2nd semester in grad school. It was so cool to have lectures in indie bookshops and do our homework in real Irish pubs complete with fish-n-chips and perfectly pulled pints of Guinness...dream come true. I am happy to say I remember the MLK "In the Name of Love" vid but not the GP one, I probably blocked it because that stuff just kills me. For real.
I'm now of the opinion one should have at least ONE gluebook going at all times, just to take the edge off life, lol.
The English instructor and writer in me just can't get around not giving credit where credit is due. I've lost a bit of respect for some of my very favorite YT'ers as I now see them for the old man behind the curtain, pretending to be The Wizard that they now appear to be. One of my favorites has taken several of the things featured in my videos (my subscriber count 381, but KNOW they're one of those) and used them for their own and made LOADS of money from them (their sub count 100,000+ subs). Not a whisper of a Thank You or nod of acknowledgment. That's just nasty pool.
Don't get too excited about the Milano minis...I got a stack of 10-15- year-old magazines, they could already be at thing of the past, lol.
As for my weekend: I've been down and out with a stomach flu for days now. I spent yesterday on the couch binge-watching your glue-book January and JuJo January videos (though, not enough energy to comment, sorry 🙁) I did click all the "like"s though and the watch time helps ✅ AND inspired by your JuJo July vid, made an accordion journal last night (finally started to feel sorta human again, though, this morning is still a bit sketchy...🤢)
I learned you just got Sophia fairly recently (Christmas last year?) Was she a pup when you got her? She's just as cute as she can be 🥰 Give her some extra love and crunchies for us 🐾💜
The cousin who just got married (dark fairy tale wedding, pupper was the Best Man) just rescued another beastlie (I'll text you a pic) black lab/Great Dane mix--adorable. If I can muster the energy, they're up here for a few days I'd love to go meet him. Like Mutt and Jeff: their Skipper is a tiny, older chihuahua and Bronson's a big galoot of a puppy.

Your so right about glue book therapy… it is a wonderful way to relax and just takes all the pressure off of creating and yet we’re still creating!
It’s weird for someone to not give creative credit in their videos. I mean I know it’s hard to remember where we get all of our ideas from but I mean at least TRY to give credit or mention that you were watching something that inspired what you’re doing. (or update the video later if you remember!)

Went to "meet" Janet, fell in love with her and her constant companion Freddie (black lab mix). Welcome! Tell me about your crafting adventure: what (other than glue-books) do you like to do (only glue books is fine too!) Are you new to all of this or have you been doing it a while? Nosy Nell here 😉
@@TheCrabbyCrafterlol Such a nice welcome, thank you! Well, you have an hour or two? I’ve always loved crafting, as a kid it was mainly colouring and paper crafts, and my grandmother taught me how to crochet. Since then, it has been a bit on and off, life getting in the way and things like that. Sometimes I did lots, sometimes almost nothing. I learned bits and bobs of different things. I can do basic stuff with a sewing machine, I learned to knit and do tunisian crochet, I did some things like zentangle and lettering, a bit of simple drawing, ... But since I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue 6 years ago, I have to rest a lot. I took up colouring again, and after a while I started following colourists here on CZcams. I added a bit of painting in my colouring books, I did some diamond paintings. Then I came across a local hobby club and they showed me how to do blackwork, but then covid came along so I couldn’t go anymore. I also followed some watercolour workshops later. But the more I watched CZcams, the more new things I came across. As you said, it’s a rabbit hole, one thing leads to ten others. I started card making, and more recently junk journaling. From there I got to the glue books, a couple of weeks ago. I started a colour glue book, and I did all the edges with washi tape. More recently, I’ve been getting curious about gelli plate printing, I had seen it before but didn’t want to do another new craft. But now I found it again, and I caved, so that’s on my Christmas wishlist now. And just yesterday, I went to a very small crafting fair with my 18yo, and the lady from the hobby club I went to before covid was there. There was someone with her who was making lace and it looked very interesting. There was a meeting this evening, so we went and we both learned the basics of bobbin lacemaking 😊 I just love to learn new things, and a few of them got abandoned, but mostly I tend to come back to them. I spend a few weeks on this, and then I switch to that, and then to the next thing, but most of the time I do return to things. So, I guess you didn’t expect such an elaborate answer, but I had fun listing everything. Have fun crafting ❤
I think most of us have done the experiment-and-move-on approach to art and crafts, lol. the whole point of all of it is to enjoy and have fun. For some of us the learning the new thing is the fun part...and it's perfectly okay to flit about and move on from things (and return to them if we want). Good for you for being brave enough to try new things and take your creativity to new places.
