      Hi Sarah, if you look closely it says there- if the site is clean there would be no need to clean. Hope that helps. Good luck

    Y 90 degree angle for a subcutaneous injection

    • @EmerDiego
      @EmerDiego  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Jaycob,
      According to The Royal Marsden Manual of Clinical and Cancer Nursing Procedures 10th edition - Subcutaneous injections are usually given using a 25 G needle. There is no clinical reason to recommend needles longer than 8 mm in adults (FIT [95]). Where a needle is 6mm or shorter, it may not be necessary to lift a skin fold, unless injecting into slim limbs or the abdomen (FIT [95]). When using a needle of 6 mm length or less, insulin injections should be given at an angle of 90° in adults (FIT [95]). Needles of 6 mm or less should be used in children and adolescents; a skin fold should be lifted, unless a smaller needle (4 mm) is being used, in which case this is not usually required. An angle of 90° is recommended for most insulin injections when using a 4 mm needle.
      Hope that helps. Best of luck

    Nurse, why is it that your hair is not tied up properly? Nurses in the clinical area are not allowed to have their hairs fixed up like that. Your hair can cause contamination to your patient especially this Covid time.

    • @cocotadtad.
      @cocotadtad. Před 2 lety +5

      Thanks for your input on this video. However, here in the UK, we don’t have any specific hairdo that we have to comply to. As long as the hair is tied neatly, that is already considered acceptable. The best measure to prevent cross contamination, as all nurses know, is hand hygiene. 😁

    Hello po. Just to clarify Lang po kasi in the criteria grasp the skin, then insert the needle, then release the grasped skin, then inject slowly.
    irelease po ba yun grasped skin?
    Thank you

    • @EmerDiego
      @EmerDiego  Před 2 lety

      Release the skin after giving the insulin . The reason is for you to give the insulin on the subcutaneous tissue and not on the muscles.

      @@EmerDiego will you be penalised if you release the skin prior?

    • @penggotchie
      @penggotchie Před 2 lety

      Replying to Sam Lab: if you insert the needle at a 45° angle, then you need to release the grasped skin but if you insert the needle at a 90° angle, you need to maintain to pinch the skin while injecting as demonstrated in their video. When administering insulin, 90° should usually be used. It is stated and referenced by royal mardsen. Hope this helps.
