good question, I don't know the answer to this and I don't have this dvd room anymore. it would be safest to do a usb cable mod. For PC side usb disconnect power wires and leave only data cables.

hello, does it work with mini cd? I mean, can you insert a mini cd in this device? I have some videos on an old mini cd and i would like to transfer the videos on my pc but i'm not sure if i can insert a mini cd in this thing. Plz help. That's what they say.
Mine can't read even the disk that came with it. Tried different USB ports, different computers... It gets recognized as an "ASUS SDRW-082DS-U USB Device" in device manager, but that's it. It can't read any disks.

I’m somewhat of a tech idiot but after an hour of waiting for it to work on my 2017 iMac I simply unplugged it ….. waited 30 seconds and reconnected it and voila!! I simply took out the asus cd and put a music cd in it and it opened iTunes. I clicked once and it started. 🤷

excellent! It looks good quality. I want to buy it in my country but I have a question. I want to burn DVD-R verbatim at 4x with this recorder. do you know if it is possible? I have 2 in my house and one records DVDs at 2x and the other, more modern one, only records DVD-Rs at 8x and 16x. I see that many questions have been asked here. That's because the person making the video has told us NOTHING about the performance of the drive. All he did was take it out of the box, plug it in, and start to run Setup. I rate this video COMPLETELY USELESS.
