  • Took out the 1938 Fairchild 24K out to lunch in Urbana, Ohio. Met a few friends along the way. We stopped in New Carlisle and yellow Springs Ohio before we returned to Jamestown Ohio. The Fairchild has been a fun airplane to fly around. The 175 hp in-line 6 cylinder Ranger has been fun to fly behind. You can always check out my website and see where I'll be barnstorming Goodfolk & O'Tymes Biplane Rides www.gobiplanerides.com

    I read somewhere that these Fairchild 24 prefer grass because the landing gear design has the gear splaying outwards upon landing and pavement restricts the movement. Great video series and very nice Fairchild.

    There were 2 of these planes based at the Airport where I was trained nearly 50 years ago!
    Both very fine craft, too!

    Dewey, thanks for your great content. I’ve watched your videos for quite some time and used to love your commercial aviation content. I’ve noticed a lot of professional pilots who use Instagram or CZcams have backed off or deleted their channels. Is this due to the more stringent oversight by FAA under Part 121 and 135 compared to Part 91? Sadly, I’ve read about some other notable CZcams pilots that have come under investigation and required check rides. Thanks for sharing your perspective and inside knowledge of the industry, especially to folks like me who love aviation but are not licensed pilots.

    • @DeweyDavenport
      @DeweyDavenport  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks for watching M.McCabe. Yes my company requested that I take down the corporate video's so I did. When I first started doing the corporate video's they gave me permission but that all changed after awhile. Companies are worried about liability more than anything and if they allowed me to do something then that means they can't stop someone else from doing the same. If you can remember my video's, I never video'ed during any movement of the aircraft and I never showed us briefing, etc. I made a point on not doing anything like that because that is a critical phase of flying and all focus needs to be on that. So at the end of the day it's not worth going back and forth with the person that pays me every two weeks even if it is raining or shining. Sharing a CZcams is exactly that. Sharing a 10-25 minute video that takes me 4-7 hours to edit. When people make rude comments and negative stuff I usually reply back and tell them I can't wait for their next video, which will never happen because they don't understand all that goes into it. Thanks again for watching. Hope you can enjoy the vintage stuff as well.

      @@DeweyDavenport I can’t speak for everyone, but as an enthusiast community we appreciate the effort that goes into your content! I’ve always been into woodworking as a side hobby and vowed to myself that starting 2021 I was going to launch pages on both of the referenced platforms. Editing IS tough and time consuming! Your content quality is great and perhaps one day I’ll get there too. My day job involves regular travel (pre-Covid-19) and I loved chatting with NetJets pilots at the hotels. Thanks for persisting with the vintage material and be good Sir.

    Hi, Dewey! Do you burn 100 LL in that Fairchild ranger engine? Do you have any sticking valve problems with any type of gas? What's a realistic TBO for them to plan a reserve?
    Love your videos! Thanks in advance.
