My granddad was a bootmaker on the courthouse square in Amarillo. Two doors down was the Ding Hao restaurant. Granddad was friends with Mr Wong and we would often eat there. This Video brings back fond memories. Granddad made and kept in repair cowboy boots and fine footwear of all types.
Brian is showing us what he's learned and mentions another artist who works with metals as he was taught in Ukraine and that's just another reminder of how immigrants have served to make this country a strong and viable society. Bring us the crafts that we aren't taught in our white bread schools; welcome to America and let us admire each other's impeccable skills.
Live in New Hampshire, but born in Glendale, CA...so this is extra special for me. I like your simplicity, genuine nature, and gentleness. Great skills for life. Your passion for boot making shines through in your smile. You embody the ancient cobbler traditions and techniques, and it is heartwarming to see a young man begin a lifelong journey...and invite us all along for the ride. Peace.
Growing up in Brazil we as kids used to fight to get the chicken feet when my mother made the chicken soup or stew. Down in Brazil chicken feet is very popular as opposed to USA. Would be nice to see you stitching the leather parts together.
What a feast! Yep, I believe in magic too. Would dig seeing both the Oak Street and the Red Wing steel toe rebuild. And I agree, more folks should snag a pair of engineering boots. I was 'lace-up-only" for years, yet now my engineering boots are in heavy rotation. Great vlog, thanks!
The best video for me so far, it let us knew a little more of his work, kind of unplanned more real and with very interesting chat, candid as a one on one chat. Excellent decision. I´ve become a fan of this kid...watch his videos as if I was watching a Netflix series. Saludos desde Tampico Tamaulipas, México bro. God be with you always.
Brian i watch your clips and i find it relaxing too me, YOU are a CRAFTSMAN young man our teacher taught you very well, I really like the style of boot you are using in the clip. From Australia.
Man I'm working a world away, and you make me miss my country...if I could go back a few decades, I think I'd choose a trade, a craft, like you. Thanks, brother!
In malaysian...its call "kaki ayam" kaki is feet ..ayam is chicken...the interesting food in malaysia is "sup kaki ayam" sup is soup..chicken feet soup..put some potatoes inside...its very yummy!!! Try it..!
I’m liking the boots that you’re making there! They will show great patina, very individual. I enjoy you showing your technique; more of this please! I like a pull on boot so I’m interested to see how the Engineers turn out.
Brian, listen up my Brotta, get some Alfalfa tablets in regards to your hands starting to hurt, day in and day out, you won’t believe the outcome. Learned it from a guy from Kentucky who figured if it’s good for the horses, well invest in a bottle and let me hear it worked. I used it to get my guitar playing hands back in shape. Loving your vids, keep going!
Im the one that ordered those 2 shirts size medium with the green and white logo! Thanks bro just got the notification that they shipped today! I will be buying some boots in the near future for sure! Keep up the good work buddy!
Cool video, I love the instructional aspect.. I hope you are thinking about getting your own apprentice(s) soon ( that could make a great series). It's awesome to see new interest in these important crafts: boot-making, smithing, woodworking etc.
Yo Brian, Dim Sum! Love the Foong- Jow (chicken feet in Cantonese). You're Vietnamese right? I would think that a Delrin plastic base (similar to kitchen cutting board) would keep your punch blade from becoming dull or damaged v. the brass base(?) Show us the finished product on those Vedge tanned monster boots :)
Hey Brian, I am very impressed with you and your videos. Always stay true to yourself and what you are doing. Keep up the good work and never forget your purpose...JRC
Brian The Bootmaker , I have had a few pairs of custom boots made for me in the past , looking to set up an appointment with you to have a custom pair of boots made - I see great work ,quality and passion for your trade . Keep it up 👍🏽

Hey there Brian, I just stumbled across your site a few days ago and have been hooked ever since. Yes, I did subscribe and hit the notification bell. :o) I love the boots you wear in this video which look a lot like the very first pair in this vid. I have searched 100's of pages of shoes and can't seem to find a lace to toe boot like the two shown here. Is the a particular brand I should be looking for?? Thanks and thanks for the awesome vids. - Laurent
Hi Brian, would you accept boots from the UK? Also, would you do a video discussing the different types of soles you use or are commonly used? I know a little but the things you do with resoling is really unique! All the best!
Brian if you see this, how reasonable would it be to make my own pair of boots. I’ve got a sewing machine and a cheap chinease leather patcher. I’ve been wanting a pair of boots but the boots I want are very expensive. I’d rather the spend the same amount or more to make my own then pay for something unoriginal. Any suggestions? Thanks Brian
Where else can you see boot making and chicken feet eating?
Lol valid question

Best boots I ever had was a pair of Wesco Jobmaster, lace-to-toe. I see a lot of the same craftsmanship with your Role Club boots as in the Wescos.
