    "Avatar: The Way of Water" takes us on a breathtaking return to the enchanting world of Pandora, masterfully created by director James Cameron. Set years after the events of the first film, "Avatar: The Way of Water" continues to explore the delicate balance between the Na'vi, the indigenous people of Pandora, and the human colonizers. The story focuses on Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), as they navigate new challenges and embark on a quest to protect their people and the planet's precious resources.
    The vibrant and lush landscapes of Pandora come to life once again, showcasing the intricate details and awe-inspiring beauty of this otherworldly environment. James Cameron's visionary direction, combined with groundbreaking visual effects, seamlessly transports viewers into a fully realized and immersive world.
    The performances in "Avatar: The Way of Water" are exceptional. Zoe Saldana delivers a captivating portrayal of Neytiri, portraying strength, wisdom, and a deep connection to her people and land. Sam Worthington brings a grounded and heartfelt performance as Jake Sully, torn between his loyalty to the Na'vi and his own human origins. The supporting cast, including Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang, further enhance the film's emotional depth and add layers of complexity to their respective characters.

      I hated this movie which was disappointing because I loved the first one. The movie stopped dead in its tracks when the family leaves, and that didn't solve anything and left the old tribe to die.
      Not to mention the psychopath teenagers of the water tribe that tried to kill the boy.
      This movie was a waste of potential, sacrificed for water cgi.

      Traditionally, performance capture is done with Infrared tracking, but water is really good at blocking IR light. So they had to develop all new tracking tech that used ultraviolet light instead. They then had the problem that even tiny bubbles can break up the tracking too much, so the whole crew had to learn how to "free dive", not just the cast, so they didn't need to use Scuba gear that would have caused too many bubbles.

    1:21:53 - I don't think there is a father to Kiri, I felt like she might be a reincarnation. When they tried to transfer Grace into her Avatar, she didn't make it. But she had to go through Eywa, and Mo’at (the spiritual leader) said "she's with Eywa now". And I kinda wanna believe, that Eywa wanted Grace to live and just birthed her all new. That is why she has such a special connection to the whole environment. She is Eywa's child. That's at least my interpretation 😄

    • @agresticumbra

      @sterthester736 Před 11 měsíci +40

      Considering that she was also the only one to have a direct conversation with a deceased person rather than reliving a memory... Remember that she never got to meet her mother, the others were put back into a fond memory of the son when he was younger. The scene of Kiri talking with Grace is something that never happened. The reincarnation thing would be interesting, especially given that things went normally until she directly asked who her father was. That's when it fell apart on itself and she began seizing.
      Also it seems to fit with the "All energy is only borrowed" belief. During that attempt at the transfer, Grace's energy could have been given back to a new life

  • @blitzgirl6522
    @blitzgirl6522 Před 11 měsíci +182

    Also my thoughts on Spider "coming around to his old man": I saw him as, yes, growing closer to Quaritch with time, but he certainly had the goal of teaching his father the ways of the Na'vi, maybe hoping beyond hope that it would change the man he was. Also, he never was truly accepted by the Sullys. Jake was fine with him, Neytiri didn't acknowledge his existence, but the kids all were like fellow siblings to him, especially Kiri (fellow outcast/freak). So without having any real parental figures to look up to and be accepted by, seeing Quaritch actually listen to him and learn from him probably meant A LOT. But of course, he is just as torn on the matter as Quaritch is. He saves him, but then dips, just as Quaritch *finally* acknowledges that Spider is his SON.

    • @heather8187
      @heather8187 Před 11 měsíci +41

      I think it also is a matter of honor. As crappy as he was, Q likely saved Spider's sanity and probably his life by taking him out of the lab. Spider knows this and although he despises Q's brutally to the Na'vi and ultimately chooses the Sullys, he may have felt the need to repay that debt.

    It's so easy to forget during the Na'vi only scenes just how big they are until you see them grab a human by the head with a hand that's bigger that the entire human head or shoot them with an arrow that's the size of an entire human body (and that's not even considering the extremely potent poison they coat the arrows in...)

  • @Fieryxjoe
    @Fieryxjoe Před 11 měsíci +18

    The Kiri dad stuff we can actually take at face value. She was an immaculate conception, you talk about familiar stories and tropes, I think she is literally a christlike figure. Her "dad" is Eywa, an actual child of "God", immaculately concieved by Eywa, a virgin birth to get firsthand experience of the world and to perform miracles, and probably sacrifice herself to save everyone at the end. Especially as this is exactly what her mom was studying and her mom had a special connection to Eywa.

    You guys discussed at the beginning the differences between the metkayina (water people) and the omatikaya (forest people). I don't know if you guys noticed it, but a cool detail Cameron added was the water people's 2nd eyelids to protect their eyes underwater. If you rewind back and slow a scene down, you can see it good. Especially in the scene where the Sully's first show up and Reya (chiefs daughter) comes out of the water. The more you go back the more detail you notice, its awesome.

    I love this sequel with all my heart it’s visually stunning, classic story of family, war, inner conflicts, different people trying to fit in with discrimination, prejudice, and living up to expectations. Jake has grown becoming more mature, strategic, and a caring father he may be a bit strict and gruff but cares deeply. Neytirei still badass as ever and being a mother bear just adds to her character even more. The kids were all great in their roles and how they played off each other. Neteyam being the responsible big brother, loak being the rebellious teen that is the embodiment of what his father was back years ago, kiri the gifted yet witty and tomboyish child who helps however she can, tuktirey being the adorable youngest always staying by the others being supportive and affectionate, and spider being the outcast who just wants to be accepted and loved by the sully family who was conflicted with his human side. Quaritch still being evil to some extent but definitely grew to care for his son showing he does have a heart. Neteyam dying was so heartbreaking to see and if you looked closely he was always in the background looking after his siblings showing how great of a character he is. So glad you guys enjoyed the movie you guys are great.😁👍😎🎥👏

I know this is a while later now, but I hope afterward he was able to search around and find a big screen still showing the movie. Also, you don't know if he wouldn't have saved his son in the original, he was never given that choice in that story. Remember, he had a real "marines take care of our own" mentality. He was willing to have Jake's legs restoration completely funded in return for his help in the mission.
      Think about it, the mind copy they put in his avatar knew who the boy was. That means they copied his mind some time after he was born, and they couldn't send the boy back to Earth because they couldn't put babies in cryo. All that means there wasn't much time between when they copied his mind and the man at the end of the first movie. It's impossible to know how different the short amount of time changed the original him up to that finale, and that means it's impossible to know if he wouldn't have made the same decision.

I'm sure they'll cover what they specifically set up, like developing relations with characters and kiri's situation but yeah. Currently feels like a lot either got cut or just was never tied up properly (and it being basically a series pilot I get it, but I still worry for plot holes). The original was re-released 2 months before this one was released and I watched that again 2 twice after watching it 10 times when it came out.

    Things to note:
    - Avatar: The Way of Water has been split into two films. Part two coming December of 2024.
    - Tuk (Youngest Daughter) and Nateyam (Oldest Son) both have only three fingers one thumb, four toes and no eyebrows. This makes them more "true" Na'vi than Lo'ak (Youngest Son) and Kiri (Adopted oldest daughter).
    - Lo'ak and Kiri both have four fingers and one thumb just like humans and Jake (father). Hence why they are targeted by the other Na'vi from the Metkayina (Water) clan - "Demon Blood".
    - Avatar: The Way of Water is the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time right behind Avengers: End Game. Making over $2.3 billion dollars!
    - James Cameron developed new underwater cameras to film the underwater sequence in the film.
    - James Cameron now has three of the four highest grossing movies of all time. 1. (Avatar - $2.9 Billion) 3. (Avatar: The Way of Water - $2.3 Billion) 4. Titanic - $2.2 Billion).
    I saw Avatar: They Way of Water eight times in IMAX 3D! It was an incredible experience! Having seeing Avatar (2009) 26 times in IMAX 3D, it was a joy to be back on Pandora. Looking forward to the next film in 2024!

    -About the military dad. I kinda understand why he acted that way. They were hunted, he had to keep his kuds under control, it was life or death so he acted the best way he knew how to protect them. Notice at the start how relaxed he was before the sky people came.
    -Some hypothedize that the bad guy will have a refemption ark. I will hate it if that happens. I want him dead
    -It is confirmed that avatar 3 will feature an aggressive race if navi
    -It seems that the kids, mostly Loak and Kiri as set up to be the main characters if the next movies, and kiri's connection to the goddess will be more explored (hypothesy is that he "dad"" is the goddess herself, Grace's avatar became pregnant from the goddess when she connected to her at the end of her life
    -avatar 3 is already in the works
    -about the story not being ground-breaking: I heard a saying that all stories have already been told, it's the way you say it that matters.
    - about not harvesting the entire way: It is done in real life too. Look at elephants and rhinos. butchered only for their tusks and horns

    Star Wars, Jurassic Park, The Matrix, Avatar, Inception and Avatar 2. Nothing has blown my mind like these. The new Dune and Maverick are high qualifiers.

    Avatar 3 release 2024 December 20: James Cameroon for Avatar 2 the way of water was actually filmed underwater in real life the reason it took so long to release was the technology it had to get advanced so that james could film underwater.

    I think the gripe a lot of people had was that it was a bit of a slow burn kind of movie. I agree with the 5/5 rating, and am very much looking forward to the introduction of the ash tribes

    Great reaction! I really enjoyed your reaction to this movie! This movie was not only made in 3D, but also 4D which is a trip! If you can't find a showing in the theater right now, I'm pretty sure they will they will bring it back a few times before the sequel comes out like they brought back Top Gun: Maverick 15 times to IMAX lol. I can't wait for you next reaction!
