- MCU reaction is here! Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is an awesome surprise and we say that because we knew nothing about this story and it was absolutely great we didn't!
Badd Medicine here and we have a Marvel reaction ready for you! Our first time watching Shang-Chi and it was HIGHLY entertaining and would recommend everyone to watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings full movie if you can. A lot of marvel Iron man references in this one! And we also get introduced to a lot of wild animals here. Those lion like creatures and who can forget Morris!? That animal will be a high seller in the merch department for sure! We also get the Mandarin from Iron man 3! The characters of Shang-Chi and Katie will be a fantastic addition to the MCU! Wong from Dr. Strange was fighting Abomination!?! And seems to be training him?! Will we see him Spider Man No way home? Or future MCU movies? And those end credit scenes with Captain Marvel and Bruce Banner will be great to see how this all gets tied in. Andrew thinks we may get Adam Warlock? What's your thoughts?
What was your Shang Chi reaction? What was your favorite part of the movie? And what do you think the Shang Chi post credit scenes will lead to?

What was everyone's reaction to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten rings? And thoughts about Morris! :)
It was really entertaining
I really enjoyed this movie, Morris was awesome. The addition of Trevor made the movie complete, so happy they brought him back.
Trevor should be in anything Shang-Chi related from now on
Agreed! More Morris and Trevor! 🤘🤘
There are tons of legendary Hong Kong actors in this, including Tony Leung. I think for me, the heart and most compelling part of the movie is the tragedy of Wen Wu. You can see in his eyes his sorrow, like when he hears that "We needed you, and you chose those damn rings" and his tears and shaking his head when Shang said "I wish that were true". The dragon and soul sucker I could care less about. To me this was the story of a Father who wanted to be strong and love his family and did it in all the wrong ways. I cried seeing him flash back to his son through the ages before he died.
That part was tough with the flash back
Chinese dragons in Chinese mythology are not evil like the European dragons, they're good dragons who symbolize strength and power, and bring good luck and fortune to humans.
Those were really cool to see in here too
not all european dragons are described as bad.
@@Tommieboy2009 Oh, I didn't know that.
@@kiranpunnoose2441 Like, Dragonheart or even in Witcher Dragon's were pretty neutral and only attacked humans if provoked.
@@Tommieboy2009Actual historical ones were. All material with them as good is much more recent. Even in Tolkien they are just Sauron's creations
I gotta say I loved the comment "the dad could easily be the hero in this." That's what makes a fantastic villain.
Agreed! He wasn't exactly a great man, but had moments where he could have been a hero. 🤙🔥
Like thanos
One cool thing to notice is how Shang-Chi and his father used the Rings. His father WORE them and used them as an extension of his arms, controlling them because that is what he desired: Control.
Shang-Chi used them in tandem with his fighting style. They floated around him. He didn't try to control them. He was one with them, like nature. Thus they were more powerful.
ahhh... didn't really pay attention to that. Good call out.
How strong is Shang chi wit da rings now? Could he beat someone like Thor or black panther wit the vibranium suit on
@@inoribettor definitely not but his fighting style may help
@@stancinatti8198 I disagree. Thor is god like so Shang chi could put up with a fight with the rings but will still lose. Without them he wouldn’t be able to put up a fight. Shang chi is currently the best hand v hand fighter in the MCU. So he could keep up with Black Panther even without the rings. With the rings he’s can beat Black Panther since Black Panther “power” isn’t just the suit but how he fights, so Shang Chi’s power with the rings is much greater than Black Panther. I think in the scope of things, Shang Chi with the rings is one level below everyone who has powers (so Wanda, Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, etc), but is above MCU characters like hawkeye, black panther, etc. Without the rings he’s still best hand to hand fighter so he’d be maybe a level above Black Widow and Hawkeye.
@@FranciscoHOS I wouldnt say low like black panther but I’ll give you widow and Hawkeye 💀
You guys mentioned the Jackie Chan fighting style. The stunt coordinator and fight choreographer's name is Andy Cheng, he was part of "Jackie Chan Stunt Team" a association of stuntman that Jackie Chan created. So his fighting style influence is visible in this movie bc of that. Andy Cheng personally trained Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) for almost a year so they could make the fighting sequences as real as possible and have the actor himself instead of using too much stunt doubles
It definitely showed.
Outside of the fact that Wenwu could've easily been a hero of the movie, I really loved that Razorfist wasn't just a mindless goon - he empathized with Wenwu's goal and he was reasonable enough to team-up with Ta Lo people when the need came up. His actions were human.
Good point here🤙
he's not a goon, the backstory is he was adopted by wenwu. Wenwu took him as a stepson. They cut the scene where the four of them have a meal together.
@@ruuoxi damn, it's a shame it was left out of the final edit :/
The deleted scenes had Razorfist as Wenwu's foster sorta son. So he was very loyal
You have to remember that Razorfist only joined the villagers after he saw that their weapons had no effect on the demons.
Fun trivial fact: In the original Marvel comics universe of Earth-616, Ta-Lo is home to the Xian gods (aka. Chinese gods), like Asgard is home to the Asgardian gods (aka. Norse/Germanic gods).
Keep the fun tid bits coming.
yes, in Taoism, Ta Lo (大羅) is the homeland of gods!
Keep in mind that this movie was made during the pandemic, when they couldn't have a lot of people on set at a time. There were a lot of effects in this movie that, had the pandemic not been a thing, would have been practical over cg.
Some of us think it was good enough over here at BM. The movie was entertaining 🤙
4:45 As an Asian American, this whole conversation was all too real.
5:30 The passenger streaming the bus fight was previously seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming as a street vendor who asks Spidey to do a flip. Even having background players return helps sell how connected and lived in the MCU has become.
6:32 No it's not intentional. You're just really jonesing for No Way Home.
8:24 Everyone catches the Extremis fighter but no one notices his opponent is one of the widows from Black Widow. Since she has enough free time to fight in a underground fight club, I guess their mission to free the other brainwashed assassins was a success(?).
14:13 Don't know if you were aware of it but we actually saw the Ten Rings break Trevor out of prison in an MCU short film called All Hail the King.
16:26 All the creatures are taken straight out of Chinese mythology. Many cultures have their own takes on the phoenix, nine-tailed fox, chimera, and foo dog/guardian lions (I guarantee you've seen the latter in statue form if you've ever been to your city's Chinatown/J-town/Chinese restaurant/etc). Although, from what I can tell, Morris' species (Hundun) seem to be unique to Chinese mythology.
24:25 There are moments in the fight that directly mirrors the one at the beginning which further showcases Shang-Chi's duality of his parents. There's even a cultural duality in that his outfit has this mystical Chinese warrior design with a predominant infinity symbol on his chest yet he's still wearing Air Jordans which represents his American side.
24:31 Speaking of eyes, to further cement Shang-Chi and Xialing's connection to Ta-Lo, the Great Protector's eyes were modeled directly off the actress who plays their mother.
24:40 Perhaps a reason Morris is so lovable is that he's based off of the director's dog so we recognize many of the same adorable traits.
27:58 Wouldn't call it falling in love. That's a trope this film seems to sidestep.
All great stuff here. Yeah, he might be jonesing for NWH. Didn't know that about Morris. Cool stuff
Everyone missing the Widow fighting gets me too. It’s soo clear!
I love the complexities of the story. The dad wasn’t a great man but you understood him to an extent. The family dynamic rlly hit for me because to imagine having to witness all the and go through thst with your dad is insane
Agreed. He wasn't a great man but tried. The kids went through a lot.
@@BaddMedicine Wenwu’s past was horrible, but he did start a new and happy life with his wife and kids, he started to soften and change and actually wanted to grow old. He finally had true happiness and content with his life. Unfortunately, his past caught up to him in tenfold and his wife got killed by his many enemies. I understand his anger, frustrations, and most of all justice for his wife’s death. He turned to his 10 rings as well as control/power instead of dealing/grieving and being there for his kids. He also became cold towards his children especially towards his daughter, isolating her from training that the “men” and Shang-Chi had to do..mostly because she reminded Wen Wu of his late wife. Even if Shang-Chi and Xialing ran away and started their own lives apart from Wen Wu. As he said, he kept tabs on his children without them knowing anyways. So it was not like he was an absentee father, they just couldn’t deal with his expectations and the trauma they suffered being around their father. The family dynamics and issues as extreme as it is in the movie, is also very relatable in real life. Not everybody’s family is perfect..there will be issues, trust broken, death, and etc that shatters the family dynamics/closeness. But in the end, Shang-Chi and Xialing deep down really wanted to fix their family. If that means going against their ruthless and powerful father, so be it. I also felt so bad for Wen Wu being manipulated and fooled by the dweller-of-the-darkness to open the Dark Gate. Wen Wu’s weakness is his wife/family and opening up that wound made him desperate to re-write the past especially with his wife’s death. If not in the human form, he can save her in the spirit form/after life that’s why he was so determined/focused in getting to her. Nothing else matters, even with those soul suckers coming out of the gate.. he didn’t care..his wife’s voice clouded his mind and wanted to open that gate. It really took a huge battle against Shang-Chi, taking off the rings, and Shang-Chi trying one more time to genuinely asking his father that THE FAMILY NEEDS HIM. You instantly saw Wen Wu’s eyes soften and full of sorrow or any time he hears his wife’s voice..you can tell Wen Wu still had that good side of him and cherishes his family. He would also felt guilt, grief, and sadness of his wife’s death and his children running away from him. Rest Easy Wen Wu, you didn’t have the best past..but you did experience true love and happiness with your wife and kids. You ended your long life, protecting your family and that in itself is redemption.
Fun and entertaining movie.
There's a deleted scene that makes the whole storyline about the mother's death more clear. But the ambiguity is interesting.
Basically Ying Li dies because of a gang that Wenwu had a previous fight with. So they want revenge for one of the numerous things he's been responsible for over the years, which is why Shang Chi blames his father. His father though blames himself because he didn't use the ten rings anymore and he had disbanded his empire. In his mind he could have kept his family safe if he hadn't given it all up. It's why he goes right back to building his empire and wearing the ten rings.
I'll have to go find those.
I hope there ISN’T a romantic subplot between Shang and Katy in sequels because it’s so refreshing to see male and female characters who are best friends. Sure she noticed her friend was ripped in the fight club but it’s possible to appreciate the aesthetics without being into someone. Everything I saw in the movie looked like platonic love between good friends.
Yes, buddies last longer than romantic interests 👍
@@owlhouse53 in real life a strong friendship is worth so much more than a weak or swiftly passing romance, and movies tend to focus far too much on the latter
I agree and also disagree causee katy and shaun deserve to be love interest in the sequel seeing as their relationship already seems like their extremely close and beautiful so i believe they'll make an amazing couple and i really do wish they're one in the sequel as that would just make the relationship development seem realistic and perfect in my opinion
Also building a beautiful friendship and then continuing that friendship as a couple is not a crime and it still doesn't change or bend the fact that male and females can be friends without being a couple, and having that mindset is quite sad if u ask me ☺️🤗
@@Vitamin_d_addict no a friendship developing into a romance certainly isn’t a crime, I just think there’s plenty of that in media and very few male-female strong friendships in media without any romantic tension or subplot.
And I think for this particular dynamic they deserve to be in a romantic relationship cause it would be not just romantic but they'd make a fun couple and yes they'll be other friendship dynamics but for this particular one it needs to be a romantic relationship cause of how beautiful their dynamic is
For a Marvell movie I definitely think WenWu is a great villain and getting superstar Tony Leung was a big win on marvel’s part
Everyone did great!
I'm really glad they liked the film. It feels like it's not been getting enough love.
It should be getting some. Very entertaining.
Reactors and comment sections have been loving it from what I’ve seen.
@@wearywanderer7018 It was primarily from when the movie was in theaters. A lot of media/critics were trashing it for various different reasons that it got a very mediocre theatrical success, despite being a really good movie.
It really only picked up in popularity after it released on Disney+, when people who already had a subscription were like, "I guess I'll try this new Marvel movie," when there was no extra exchange of monetary value involved.
FYI, every one of the creatures we saw in Ta Lo are derived from actual Chinese fairytales and myths. Morris & friends are Hundun, the phoenixes are Fenghuang, the deer-dragon creature is Qilin, nine-tailed foxes are Huli Jing, big lions are foo dogs or Shishi (stone lions). I think they're all detailed in the Disney+ 'Assembled' show, there's an episode dedicated to Shang Chi.
Loved the movie. Biggest gripe is I wish Death Dealer (guy in blue outfit and white mask) was a bit more in the film. I was hoping there'd at least be an epic 1-on-1 fight at the end, given this guy 'trained' (tortured) Shang Chi for likely years as a child.
Ahhh.... That's pretty cool. And agreed thought we should've had a fight between him and Shang Chi
This movie was such a surprise, no one expected much from it but it instantly became a fan favorite movie. And the father is arguably one of the best "villains" in all of Marvel. At least in terms of execution and making him such a compelling character.
It was a fun and entertaining movie. 🤘🤘
I guess now we know the ingredients to having a great villain: 1) write a character with understandable motivations driving their actions and 2) get one of the greatest actors of his generation Tony Leung to elevate the writing with a powerful performance - he is widely known in Asian cinema as "the man who can speak with his eyes" and he puts that skill to work in this film - I highly recommend watching his other films like Infernal Affairs (the film that inspired the American remake The Departed), the Shang Chi film only scratched the surface of his talent.
We can add that to the list 🤙
I loved him in Hero!!
All those creatures in Ta Lo are from Chinese mythology. The lion creature are the statues you see guarding Chinese entrances.
It's really cool to see
They were also shown turing the Chinese Circus I saw as child. One attraction always used to be the Dance of the Dragon but they only showed that on the last evening so I never saw that to my disspointment.
"You and your sister deserves what's coming."
The more I hear RazorFist say that, the more I begin to believe that maybe he was trying to say that they deserve the sense of happiness and connection; Familial love and connection again, once they help Shang's father open the gate in Ta Lo.
Interesting... I honestly wasn't sure at the time what he meant 🤣🤣🤣
What's too bad is there were more Razorfist scenes that made him more sympathetic but were cut. You can find them online, I think I saw some on youtube.
He gave up immortality and the strength of a literal god. He gave up everything 😂
lol
For love❤️, you have to mention that
I can't say enough about this movie. It was funny, the action was exhilarating and gorgeous, and it was pretty sentimental. At times, I felt bad for Wenwu (Tony is just a fantastic choice for villian) and partially wanted him to win throughout. I honestly think the MCU version is better than his comic counterpart in origin
Good question... Monster vs monster... I don't think so
As half Filipino-Chinese, i'm impressed by most of the chinese dialogue used here, especially 'Mandarin' , and the casting of asian actors is spot on ❤️🤟 especially Tony Leung as the villanous Wenwu #TheRealMandarin 😅🤟and legendary actress Michelle Yeoh as Shang-chi and Xialing's aunt "Ying Nan" ❤️❤️❤️
i don't know about you guys but Sim Liu's action sequence kinda give's "Jackie Chan hyper karate" kind of vibes , LOLZ,😅😅🤣 especially on the bus scene❤️❤️🤟🤟
Oh yeah... definitely felt like Jackie Chan in moments. The Oak mentioned it on the reaction during the Bus scene. Well done movie we thought.
it probably feels like Jackie Chan style because it was members of the Jackie Chan team that were stunt coordinators and fight choreographers in this movie :)
Awesome! It was great seeing that style in the MCU.
@@huldradraco i thought it was Bruce Lee's team?
@@racheldollton At least one of Jackie Chan's team for sure, Brad Allen, I think the only white guy on Jackie's team; I believe I heard there were others but I can't name them specifically. Unfortunately he passed away before the movie was released, I think there's an 'in memory of' in the credits. The old bearded guy in the village who tells Katy to shoot the throat was a stunt guy in some Bruce Lee's movies and has acted in a ton of movies like Kung Fu Hustle (movie poster on Shang Chi's wall), so that may be what you're thinking of. I haven't heard if he helped in this movie's stunts, but he may very well have given some input here and there.
This is one of the marvel's most underrated movies. It had the best fight scenes of all of them and the villain was actually good
Random cool fact but when Shang chi and katy go to the battle tower, the announcer guy says “oh no worries I speak A B C”. This is both just a funny way of describing English but also ‘A B C’ is a common short-hand acronym for ‘American born Chinese’, like Katy
Ohhh... Interesting to know. Thank you.
I truly admire the fact that there wasn't any evil overarching plan like destroying the world or murdering tons of people.
Evil Razorfist actually ends up being a pretty chill dude just following orders and I like the image of two armies honoring there dead warriors after realizing they needed to fight together.
The choreography was awesome,Specifically with the Opening fight with Wenwu and his Wife, and the chilidhood Training Sequence of Shang and Sister.
If I could critique a few things though it would first be starting with removing the ending dragon battle and keep it in between Shang-Chi and Wenwu relationship and personal battle and fight,Similar to classic Martial Arts Films of the past.
Second,my favorite moment where Shang has the training flashback of it being beaten Into him to kill his enemies, resulting in him being stopped from killing his Childhood Trainer by his Father. We needed more of those moments in the film where he deals with the results of Essentially being trained as all his life as a Child Assassin.
Great stuff here!
Definitely my favorite Phase 4 movie, and quite possibly my favorite MCU origin story. So freaking good.
It turned out great!
The adaptation of the Ten Rings was awesome. In the comics they have a lot in common with the Infinity Stones. Here they made them their own thing.
I just love how Wenwu always look so smart with his clothes plus that rings on his hand.
🔥🔥🔥
This was my first movie seeing after all the restrictions were lifted in the UK.
The stunt coordinator was Brad Allen (He passed away after this) who has worked on a lot of Jackie Chan movies.
Comic trivia: Shang Chi is the number one fighter in Marvel Comics, he has beaten the likes of Iron Fist in single combat.
The 10 rings of the Mandarin have a variety of different powers and they originate from a dragon alien race called the Makulan (one of them is a villain named Fin Fang Foom)
Also, so happy you said that you are reacting to Lord of the Rings in the future, (Hope its the extended editions)
Spoilers, man. Stop it.
Shang had a Kungfu Hustle poster on the wall. Thats funny bc some of the actors in it were cast as talo villagers.
Its also a great comedy kung-fu movie.
You all should react to it!
That is on the list. We just did parasite. This will be coming up.
Best martial arts in the mcu!!
And when they got to the village, looks so beautiful, i wouldn't mind to get more of that in the sequel
I wouldn't mind a sequel
The people of Ta-Lo would never turn their backs and never turn Ying Li away from her home. They loved and cared Ying Li with all their hearts and soul, and they will always welcome her home, because she is family too them.
Yeah, hard to believe they would. Very loyal they are.
In my own honest and personal opinion, Shang-Chi from the Marvel Comics Universe can definitely defeat Batman from the DC Comics Universe in hand to hand combat without difficulty, with and without his utility belt.
Interesting take. And would be fun to see actually.
You forgot the lol at the end cause this is a joke right
@@LitLounge no, not really. But it is very imaginative, but possible.
Rings and taichi will lose to flying wads of bank notes.
@@LitLounge not necessarily even batman had to train everything overtime and shang chi marital arts wise can beat damn near 99% of people in the same field in the marvel universe at his peak. I think after a while only 5 characters in marital arts can really beat him. Batman on the otherhand without really knowing what he is getting into can get squashed by talia if he's not careful let alone Ra's Al Ghul and Deathstroke.
and also this glowing guy from iron man 3 was fighting black widow trained in red room. i saw her first and never focused on her opponent so that guy was great catch!
It felt like they referenced a lot from Iron man 3.
@@BaddMedicine True. There was a one shot by Marvel called All Hail The King. It shows what happened to Trevor after Iron Man 3 and how Wenwu broke him out.
I absolutely love this film, it had so many layers and the "bad guy" wasn't actually just all bad. I really loved it. Great reaction
Yes. This was a nice surprise on how good it was. Looking forward to the next one.
Fun Fact, the designs of the Ten Rings in this movie was inspired by the Hung Gar Iron Rings.
🔥🔥🔥
This is where the fun begins! Shang Chi is one of my favorite superheroes! It's so satisfying to see him have his sole movie! 🙏🏽💪
i genuinely don’t understand how people can not like this movie .. personally i don’t like a lot of the comedy (especially coming from katy) .. but this movie had the best use of cgi and fight sequences and storylines .. the love story between the dad and mom is just beautiful .. i’m also a sucker for anything revolving around asian culture, it fascinates me so much :)
Agreed on all fronts here! Very solid film and loved the creatures they had.
well u do understand this movie came out pretty much deep into the pandemic where a bunch if ppl started hating the chinese because the virus originated there. i mean u had a lot of violent attack on asians during that time as well.
There wasn't really much comedy tbh. Which really surprised me.
I actually liked there was a small amount. Nice change of pace for a MCU movie.
@@vanblitz7009 Yeah, I think sometimes, less humor does more for a film. For Ragnorak, it worked splendidly (sometimes a little too much, but what can you really do?). With Cap: Winter Soldier, it didn't really need humor. I think the more serious tone played to the film's favor. It all really depends on the story and characters plus the balance of humor to more somber moods
Sooo excited for this! I went to the theaters and watched this and it was just so badass! So much amazing fighting with a actual solid story behind it I loved it
the fight scenes were fantastic. And agreed... very solid story! And gotta love Morris. 😂🤘
Oak "I know Shung nothing about Shung chi" 😆 & Quinn & Oak's banter at 12:15 - 12:30 gave me a good giggle 🤭
He finally found someone worth growing old for!
He did
Plot twist: Morris species is unable to talk or communicate. Trevor is nuts 😂😂😱🤪
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Something not a lot of people know or realize is shang chi was made before iron fist and he didn't do very well in America so they made a white version of him and sold it in America. They both are martial artists that get yellow powers from a dragon and train in a secret martial arts place that's in another dimension that you can only get to once a year. Saying this though I really like how much they changed the story. Even though Shang Chi came first more people know iron fist more so the changes they made to him were different and nice and don't make people think of him as Chinese Iron fist such as taking away his yellow powers and turning it into the ten rings and also making his dad the mandrin which he isn't in the comics and many other things. They also changed his influence, Shang Chi is inspired by Bruce Lee but in the movie he is obviously inspired by Jackie Chan and there are many many other changes but I think they were all for the better
very interesting indeed. And we could see the Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan influence. Great action in this.
I didn't have a clue when he lost the necklace until you pointed it out. Like the fourth or fifth reaction video I have seen of it, and you are the first to point it out. Props. That's a good eye.
Thank you! And thanks watching. We appreciate it. 🤘🤘🤙🤙
Oak's review was super super fair and pretty much 100% in line with how I think of superhero movies. I think Shang Chi is pretty much a perfect comic book film, can't get any better than this in the genre. But in terms of perfect film, period, it's hard for comic book movies to transcend into the upper tier. Completely friggin agree with Shawshank, that's in my top 5 all time films. Same with Parasite. The only "comic book" movie in my top 5 all time is Dark Knight, and that's because it really wasn't a comic book movie at all. Nolan just did something that we'll probably never see again, which is make Batman into a legitimate crime noir epic.
Great stuff here! And yeah, Dark knight is in a tier by itself. 🤘🤙
For me it's Logan as well as Dark Knight.
Boom
The choreography was done by the late Bradley Allen, Jackie Chans disciple and member of the formers stunt team. Death Dealer( the assassin in the mask) was played by Andy Le, main member of the CZcams stunt team Martial Club.
Fun Fact #2: The older man from Ta Lo who got killed is Yuen Ta, a former member of the "7 Little Fortunes". They were a circus troupe that was the top performers of the everso elite Peking Opera Theater.
I thought I've seen him in other things🤔
@@BaddMedicine I know his brother a small thing in Into The Badlands. But other than that the only other thing he was in was Paper Tigers.
*When they were driving with the Mandarin and you asked what was that white looking fox. That is called a Ninetails. Some of those animals are from the mobile game Pokemon Go.I'm sure you guys heard of it before*
Phase 1 Iron Man would of probably got smoked if he fought wenwu lol
🤣🤣🤣
It is really great that you guys are reacting to this movie. I saw it online and it was truly epic.
If you have researched and learned on who Shang-Chi is from the Marvel Comics Universe here it is. If you have heard of him, I apologize, if not, then that's alright.
Shang-Chi is Marvel's version of Bruce Lee (not a knockoff version which is disrespectful), who was inspired and modeled after one of the greatest master martial artist in history, and made his first appearance and debut on December 1973, 5 months after Bruce Lee's death.
Shang-Chi (Earth-616) is the greatest martial arts grandmaster and hand-to-hand warrior in the Marvel Universe.
He was trained since birth by his evil father Zheng Zu (leader of the Five Weapons Society) and many other masters and teachers to be the greatest and ultimate perfect living weapon, both mentally, physically, and spiritually.
However, when he was 19 years old after completing his training and he learnt and realized that his father is purely evil after completing his first assignment, he defected for good and became his father's enemy to fight him and his society.
He is a human being who has no superpowers (he had a number of former superpowers throughout his years of adventures temporarily, but not anymore), but his training in Chinese martial arts primarily and virtually all the other different disciplines, both physically, mentally, and spiritually are considered to be his superpowers which allows him to take down many highly skilled opponents simultaneously as well as superhumans.
He can also channel and control his own natural chi, similar but different to Iron Fist, but inferior.
He is ranked no.1 as Marvel's Top 10 Martial Artists.
He isn't just Marvel's greatest martial artist, he is a philosopher and a teacher or master to many of the Marvel heroes such as Spider-Man and Wolverine.
Great stuff here. We definitely will do more research and this is a great start to getting to know more behind the character. Thank you!
@@BaddMedicine You are most welcome 😊.
Been loving the reactions gentleman. It’s very reminiscent to just hanging out with the boys, can’t wait for more 🤙🏽
🔥🔥🔥🔥
Am I the only one who had HUGE Soul Calibur vibes when the dad and the son fought with the spears and the rings. Every movement would make me think of a move from one of the games lol.
Bro when his father basically made shang chi guilty from his mom's death I was like "bruh he was 7 yo you wanted him to do what? Throw toys in the gangsters???"
(Sorry about my english)
Yeah the dad went a little extreme 🤣
26:03 that look says to me "I'm so sorry I put you through this , boy. Now become the hero I never was"
This was a good movie. I loved the parallel scenes replayed from the beginning half for the finale like the dad looking up in the spin at his son like he did with his wife. Yin and Yang.
Agreed. Thought it was a good movie and wouldn't mind seeing a 2nd. 🤙
@@BaddMedicine it’s better on 2nd watch. You notice a lot more. I knew nothing about the characters going in
We didn't either. I still have to get my 2nd watch in too
if you go back to where Tony stark is holding a gun to "the mandarin" in his bedroom you'll see a backdrop with 2 swords on it surrounded by 10 rings. They have been planning this a long time lol
Shang chi use his mothers move to fight Wenwu and he also use his Father's move to fight the Dweller of Darkness
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Tony Leung's acting with his eyes is superb. Wish they didnt have the typical superhero movie ending but was an okay movie given the other post endgame marvel movies
I agree about going in blind. I actually didn't want to see this in the theater but a friend convinced me. So glad I went. It is one of my favorite Marvel films.
As a new subscriber to your channel, I was super excited to see that you reacted to this kickass movie! It is now in my top 10 favourite! Fellow Canadian Simu Liu was outstanding as Shaun... what an amazing actor! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it as much as I did. Good job gentlemen!
This was a nice surprise by Marvel. Looking forward to the next one. 😁🤙

I read many Chinese novels, and all these Chinese powers and mythical creatures have fascinated me a lot.
I just hope Hollywood would just make Chinese martial arts movies (wuxia etc) with millions of mythical creatures.
Context:
- White animal was many tails fox (9 tails being most)
- The horse type thingy was a Qillin
- Dragon was a water dragon, hence it had waterpowers, so it when it got its soul back, it went down near water to use its power again.
- The martial art used by Sheng Chi and family is mostly the Tai Chi but I am guessing, it might have some different name (in chinese mythology they have random million names)
I love this movie and i love it because it dosent feel like a Marvel movie
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The two fighters reference 2 movies. Ironman 3 (extremis soldier) and a Black Widow
Ohh... The Black Widow makes sense now.
5:12 Let the battle begin 🙏🏽
I loved this movie, so entertaining, colorful, humorous and dramatic, action packed.
Yall just got that bro energy, reminds me of my time in the marines. I smoke so much weed and enjoy your guy's reactions to these fantastic movies/shows. You make a devil dog's day easier, much love 💪🏽
PS: I highly recommend the martial arts movies 'Shadow' and 'Hero'. As far as TV show recommendations, 'Breaking Bad' and 'Vikings'.
I'm pretty sure that the old man that kind of was Katy's mentor was actually Bruce Lee's stunt double back in the day. I think they mention this in the Assembled episode of Shang-Chi.
I can't believe I missed your reaction to this one! I am really eager to see the characters incorporated into the MCU storyline.
I am a huge MCU fan and I loved this reaction. Can't wait to check out more
Thank you and thanks for checking us out Melissa! This movie was a great surprise. Hope they do another one.
omg i love this movie so much it was awesome to watch with you guys!
Well, the film has been widely discussed on China social media, and we don't quite understand why it has become popular abroad.
Almost all ppl around me was disappointed because the two actors looked very ordinary according to Chinese aesthetics,They even said that they were not interested in seeing the film after seeing the actors hahaha.
And why always dragon? The dragon is indeed the king of beasts in the myth system of China, but it is more a riding tool and does not have a high status.
Interesting to hear. I was not aware. The action was great. A good story and the creatures were fantastic. We think the movie is entertaining.
20:00 Fun fact )) The actor who played young Shang-Chi is going to play Zuko in coming Avatar series ❤️
I really enjoyed this movie, the fight scenes in my opinion were choreographed brilliantly, the best I’ve seen in awhile.
And the humour was the right amount for me.
To be fair, not many people knew about Shang-Chi. Now, much like other characters, they will be much more prominent because of the MCU.
We liked not knowing anything. Made the experience for us better. 🤙
@@BaddMedicine same for me and my friends.
Great reaction guys, I loved this movie too!
Thank you and thank you for watching
Funt Fact: The old Chinese guy is also the Landlord in "Kungfu Hustle".
I really hope the next time we see this character, he uses bits of both elements of his parents styles. The force(blue) and the flow(orange). It makes me think of the idea of Yin and Yang, where there is a balance between things. Not black, or white, but both.
That’s a weird horse 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just gotta say, who wouldn't wanna go out drinking and having fun with Wong? Lol
Haha that would be fun
One of my favorites of the new MCU releases
Having both Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung in the film was a real treat!
Another cool fact: Captain America was actually trained by Shang Chi
i love it every second of it
🔥🔥🔥🔥
What an amazing movie. I heard it was good and didn't expect much but wow was it good. 🤙
Agreed! Didn't have any expectations and zero knowledge about the characters and it was a fun movie and good experience. 🤙
i was gonna watch this reaction on patreon so i could watch along but it was not on the list awww T^T
I’m yet to watch this , so I’ll watch it with u !
"If you aim at nothing, you hit nothing" - Wayne Gretzky, probably
🤣🤣🤣
Love the name and the intro!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
a lot of reacters show their face more than the video so i respect you
Thank you. I understand why. It's because reactors are only allowed to show so much. Otherwise copyrights and blocks happen.
This movie was great I got to see it in the theater. It's one of the best marvel movie I have ever seen.
Wait a minute... did one of you just say "realistic dragons"?
🤣🤣🤣
Just because of the floating lanterns, I want them to watch Kubo and the Two Strings
This is easily one of the best MCU films.
Love this reaction
Thank you and thank you for watching!

All great ones here🤙
At 32:25 you're saying you'd rank Marvel & DC superheroes movies as topping out as 4/5, and 5/5 only applies to movies such as Shawshank Redemption as 5/5 due to the depth, storyline, drama, etc. I'm curious to know what you would rate Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight"? Would that qualify as a 5/5? That was less of a superhero movie and more of a crime-thriller drama that happened to have a superhero in it.
I will have to ask him. To me Dark knight is 5/5
this is easily the best mcu film imo
It was very good.
I just learned "I speak ABC" means "I Speak American Born Chinese".
I might be late for this but I think it's a very awesome movie and love it to no end. I was also wandering if any body mentions some thing about what Wong and the others talked about how old the rings really are and the signal 1- they may have been made by the Eternal Phastos and the rings call a Celestial !? 😀👍
