How to become a pilot when you don’t have any money. Becoming a pilot is super expensive, it really is. Depending on your location, an integrated flight training costs between € 50.000,- and € 150.000,-. So where do you get all that money from? How to pay the pilot training? I receive all kinds of questions related to this subject on a daily basis. I am even being asked if I am willing to sponsor individuals so they can become a pilot themselves. Most people that follow me are aware of the fact that I still have a huge loan myself. You can read more about the costs and my story on my website.
I will shed some light on this subject and give you my advice on how to pay the pilot training while you have no money in the bank.

Believe me its even better to work and get some experience that just go right after school for such a serious study and job. I've started at 29, don;t see any problem with this
I can relate to that. Plus, although not particularly necessary, it might be a good idea to obtain a Bachelor's degree. Not only is it a back-up plan for when Flight School (and the real pilot life) doesn't work out as it was supposed to be, it is also a good way to refine your study methods and to get used to larger amounts of theory when compared to high school. And those extra few years mean you will be a bit more mature by the time you start your training, which also help to obtain the "pilot attitude" that will be expected from you.
If you don't mind I want ask you question how the maximum age to strat your study aviation and after that to find good job I'm 26 now Maybe I will start at 28 to because now I'm prepar the money of the study I need your assist
Yamen Hano No problem man, if you’re in good health and will be able to stop working or combine in case of modular, go ahead with no worries! I have colleagues that started at 32-34years old
Mike EY thank you so much may god bless you, I love seeing successful people telling their stories as I want to follow them in their path. The only thing is is that would you recommend going to university?
hey there, I'm 20 years old... about to complete my engineering college, I wanna get a CPL but I don't know the best academy and whether its good time or not. Try to contact me if possible, need some guidance.
"I will not drag my parents into a bad financial situation"... you said and did. Yet another reason to admire what you have succeeded in for who you are. Yet another reason to admire the who you are.
I wouldn’t even think about to ask my parents to pay for me too me that’s insane. Ima do like her
For all those who don't know here are the steps you need to follow to become a pilot.
1)PPL+Night rating
2) ATPL
3)CPL+MEP+ME/IR
4)MCC/JOC
~hired by an airline~
5)TYPE RATING
6) You're a first officer
How many actual hours of flying are involved in those please?
6000-7000
All that means nothing to someone that doesn’t know how to become a pilot
i wish to become a successful pilot like you one day...
Don’t wish to be a pilot work to be a pilot
Ameen
Being an instructor is a good option as well if you're looking to build real flight hours. And not suffer the cost.
Also it helps keep the cycle going by incentivizing private pilots to teach new comers, then they move up to ATPL training, and the new guys become instructors and teach another wave of new pilots.
And the cycle repeats itself. With the current shortages it seems like a decent enough approach.
I am from Czech Republic✈️ and I was happy when you tell that in the Czech Republic it cost less than 50 000✈️😍
Seriously?? Only 50k for a CPL?
@@salmanulfarisck6482 - I found this:
flyingacademy.com/pilot-training/ab-initio-easa/easa-0-atpl/
In India Costs around INR 2400000 for CPL with 200 hrs of flying experience and IR
Welp, i know where im moving, plus it would be fine since im polish and i wouldnt have too many problems with language! Ok seriously though im joking i wont be able to move to a complete other country for my training, i would if i could lol. Guess i could move to my family in Poland for a couple of years temporarily, ill have to look through my options. Good luck in your career.
@@somepolishguy8228 - In fact, it's quite usual that the pilot training is obtained in some other country, and in most cases you usually can complete the training in about 12 months or even in less time.
Problem is you can spend all this money and there is NO guarantee you will get a job at the end
Dee Man - that's how most things are. It's up to the individual to decide if the risk is worth it.
get ryan air
That is every single career, but now that theres a pilot shortage is worth it
Well if your grades are shit and you need 3 attempts out of 4 to pass a tests then I think it's obvious it's gonna be hard for you to get a job but if you get 90% at each tests then finding a job won't be a problem for you
Join a cadet pilot program
in georgia aviation university is very cheap. for example 4 year study for atpl worth 45000georgian Lari which is less then 20000euro
for which license? ATPL?
Thank you, I myself have been looking at finances for my flight training.
I was lucky that as a teen I was able to get my PPL through a government sponsored Cadet flight program. I later applied to a local college for the commercial flight training program. There were 300 applicants and they only accept the top 50 after writing a series of exams. After the first year that number drops through education, medical, and or loss of interest down to 20. After 3 years, the normal number of graduates sits at 13. The nice part of this program was that all tuition and flight training was covered under a scholarship program. You only had to pay for food and lodgings.
I did not make the exam process, which I found out later that I fell in the top 75.The percentage of eligible students had a total average after all of the exams was 97%, I had 94%.
After a life of a different career path decide to give the CPL another try. I was still working and would try and fly at least 2-3 hours a week. After one year, I gave up. I was already $19,000 Canadian dollars in debt. Renting a plane wet for one hour was about $165.00. The present cost is $201 (solo) and $277 (Dual)
Another option that is popular here is to buy into an owner partnership of a small plane. It allows an individual to build hours. After which is to try and get hired as a bush pilot doing shuttles into hunt camps and fishing lodges.
how its going after 2 years?
I feel a little pressed because I have 28 and does not have the money yet... Very appreciate your advises my fav pilot girl!!
Omg I literally love you , thank you SOO much for this video because this was the ONLY video that I wanted to see. I honestly can't thank you more more for this, it means the world to me 😁
Hey susky eyes! thx for helping kids out. Also guys there is another great option to be a cabin crew in UAE, Qatar for a few years and save.. in 4-5 years you'll get the amount. My personal way;)
heheh, husky, the pretty dog with blue eyes)
please what's this option and is it international ?
what if ur not that pretty to work as cabin crew :D
Привет можно с тобой пообщаться?
ohh yes it's a gud way @Mihail BAA let try my best ..wish me luck
I started my local college’s helicopter flight program last August that credits future pilots a private license, commercial license, and a flight instructor license. The only reason I was able to gain financial assistance for this program is because of the Associates Degree portion of the program.
Yet I still need $70,000. I decided to complete the degree portion first so that there would be no schedule conflict during ground/flight training. My only option would be to get a $20,000 scholarship every semester (there are 3 semesters left). Each remaining semester cost approximately $26,000. Sometimes I just want to give up and switch majors 😔
Thank you for being looking after us all this time on all these useful videos ! Well done to be appreciated !
Bijna 80.000 subcribers, sws voor die 100.000! 😉
Keep the good work up.
Aer Lingus and Air France are the only two airlines sponsoring ab-initio pilots to my knowledge, in Europe. Air France requires you to speak fluent french, while with Aer Lingus your chances are very tiny if you aren't from Ireland (in my opinion). But that didn't prevent me from applying ;) TUI also has an MPL program for 50k€ with guaranteed employment at the end of the training. All 3 programs are already closed for 2018 though. All of these info are out there with a bit of research, it's up to you !
I haven’t watched the whole video but I would recommend going to a four year university that has a pilot program integrated into their school. That way you can get a bachelor degree and get flight training. Most schools also have connections with airlines that can get you a job or at least a job lined up once you’ve gotten the required hours. There’s quite a lot of these schools within the United States and if you’re young you might as well get a degree and your licenses and hours at the same time.
Michelle, I switched to drinking Heineken Beer from drinking Whiskey, it doesn't lay as heavy on me. I just want to thank the Dutch people for brewing such a rich beer and you as well!
hi! my name is louie i lived in the philippines my dream is to become a pilot but my parents cant sent me to a expensive flying school i've always watching your channel as well as captain joe to learn about aircrafts and safety proceedure when fakeoff and landing i hope you are reading this..
Well I’m looking at my training options now. 1) do my training through the Royal New Zealand Airforce which is hard to get accepted into and I have to serve for at least ten years after my graduation. 2) go through a program where an qantas pays for some of the training but you have to fly a q300 for a few years and id have to move away from my family.
3) get another job and establish my life and then when I am financially stable and comfortable I’ll start my training
I know I’m going to need a loan somewhere along the line but I’m trying to make that loan as small as possible
how are you after 5 years?
If u don't have money or good credit, u have to either save or build that credit
I'm an Australia high school student hoping to join Qantas's cadet program only 2 and a half hours away from my home, only problem is the training includes several stages and the first stage alone costs $80000 AUD or $50000 EUR, there are multiple stages at similar costs and some are slightly lower! At least living costs are really cheap for Australian standards near the airport at around $15-15 thousand not including rent which is usually a few hundred dollars a week which is cheap for Australia.Loans have extremely high interest as well, between 10-25%. becoming a pilot will be tough for me at least, its been my dream since a kid and I'm not gonna give it up that easy.
Have you asked for a loan?
Michelle, you forgot to mention air force pilot training.
Boodieman72 yes, but you apply into air force not for money saving or reaching your goal. Actually, you go into air force to serve to your country. I hope that makes sense to all future pilots!
You can also learn to fly in the air force, of course you would have to figure out how to get into the flight training aspect. You are still doing what you want to do, fly an airplane.
The air force is even harder to get into then the flight training schools! And if you don’t make selection, then you have to still serve your country. So it’s not a strategy that’s recommended, unless you are ok serving your country.
It is still an option.
Can somebody help me please.
If I get into air force, do they ask us for any fees to learn to fly and get license? Or is there any bond like we have to work for a specific time in air force.
I'm from czechrepublic and flight school is 1 000 000 CZK which is about 42 000 euros
_TheHonzous _ Flight school for what type, rating,class...how many hours of sim. how many hours in actual IMC as captain...be specific please when you compare...
TESLA Magyarország Tesla Hungary & SpaceX just type Prague flying academy or Prague flight school And you can find more stuf if you're intressted in it
Taky jsem koukal na cenu
TESLA Magyarország Tesla Hungary & SpaceX
But does your country require 1500 hours flight time? If you're flying in my country the lowest fuel cost you'll find per hour in a plane is $80 per hour. Meaning that over 1500 hours you end up paying $120,000. 102,000€ for Europeans. This is just fuel costs alone. Which can be twice as expensive depending on your aircraft.
Your video editing skills are really good
3:30 Yay! I am from Czech republic 😂
In America the full tuition at flying schools is $100,000 (one hundred thousand dollars) which includes books and Dorm. It takes two year's to get full flying training. Students who want to become a pilot have to take lectures in classrooms and complete certain amount of hours in training aircraft plus they have to teach students before getting their commercial pilot license. I always wanted to be a commercial pilot or radiologist, but my dreams didn't come true.
TA Videos it's inculed type rating or not ?
Confirmed! I am Czech and pilot training costs 1 230 000 CZK which compares to about 50 000 euros (2.7.2018)
JhonnyPresetnsTV it includes type rating also
Serious question - why doesn't everyone train in the Czech Republic then? It's a nice country, I can't imagine taking on another 100k of debt just to train in my home country!
Thank u Michelle 🌥🛫
very delighted. Thank you Dutch Girl.
That was a lesson on how to succeed at anything! Kudos for not wanting to bring your parents into it!
You don't need to join the air force. In Asia, I know that Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific and several other airlines have a cadet pilot programme where your training is 100% sponsored by the company. Of course, that means that you are obligated to work for that company for a certain number of years. I won't be surprised the the likes of British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France or KLM will have similar programmes in Europe.
How we can apply for that program
You did forget to include that some airlines actually have their own academies (For example, Pan Am had it's own, and still survives to this day, even though the airline did not), who will actually cover all the expenses as long as you fly for them.
Same for turkish airlines. But its hard becomes you competer with other people
Not only smart, talented and beautiful! Thank you
Well come to Romania 🇷🇴 the flight school are cheaper than in Germany 🇩🇪 or Netherlands 🇳🇱
The flight school in Bucharest, Romania asks for 30.000 - 40.000€ for an ATPL and it will recommend its best students to Ryanair. I know that Ryanair is not an extremely good airline, but think about it: you will still be an airline pilot.
Rareş Marian really? 40??
Amy Chad Yes, it is very cheap, but I still can't afford it, but I thought that maybe someone will see this comment and maybe come to Romania to get their ATPL, as it is very cheap.
Rareş Marian
I'm sorry you can not afford it. I too can not afford it and I borrowed money from the bank, where I am (in Italy) the atpl costs € 70,000 and it is very much.
if it's your dream and you're young I suggest you throw yourself.
good luck for your future.👊
Amy Chad Thank you for yiur kind words, but I don't think I will pass the medical examination, because I have some heart diseases and some back problems too. I think I will go on with music :)))
Rareş Marian
a heart disease? 😯Oh God, I'm very sorry I hope you can get better soon, I do not know you but I will pray for you.
I wish you the best of this life because I know it's not easy. who knows, maybe one day we'll see each other on a plane. "✈
Hey I'm Dutch as well and living in Oregon, America as I'm dual citizen. There are many grants available here and private loans I'm starting this summer for airlpane super excited. And love your channel. Groetjes en veel plezier!!
I live in Bend Oregon. You? Add me on Facebook Sebastiaan Jo Hoek let's be in touch
@Lilylockett i have a teen looking into pilot school. We're in Oregon. Just looking into options now. Wondering how your experience went? Any advice?
@Lilylockett This was wonderful, thank you, for taking time to share such detailed information. Fun to hear someone else in the midst of navigating this. He's looking at ATP ss well. We're considering having him wait a year to see how things go during this whole pandemic. He's graduating with an associate's, and so taking a year to explore options might make sense for him. Excited for your adventure! The more he's been looking into flight school and the career path of pilot, the more his Dad and I like the idea. Blue skies! Thank you for sharing!
Okay, I get a loan and pay for my learning. How to live 2 next years and pay the bills, I assume the study is Monday-Friday in working hours?
In India there's like a thing which make sure ur going to become a commercial pilot , but it cost a lot!
Mam please upload some videos about class 1 and 2 medical videos also
These are not all situations. There are also family members who already paying several thousands for living in a month. They less likely will get any loan, travel, or earn more..in the same time there is a growing need for pilots... quite strange.
I am 16 and thinking about going to Embry Riddle. I live in the US and not many airlines offer scholarships here.
nice video!!!!
the intro is sweet!!.
I’m 14 and an on my way to my private

I'm turning 16 and I'm not starting until next year. You're so lucky!
Wizz Air Pilot Academy, but it is only available for Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.
Thanx so much
i know a pilot that is still paying on his $727,000.00 USD LOAN Payment. He has paid off about 66,000 thousands. Now of course he paid for his own small plane for training because it was cheaper where he was located than renting from the flight school since they just raised their rates through the roof as they said that it was Biden Economics and they were barely making it. Their rates went up 315% in the last two years. he's in debt for a long long long long time, since his wages are very low rn. Thanks for your video
Best way to become a pilot is to join the RAF (Royal Air Force) And fly with them for 10 + Years then join a domestic or cargo airline
But you need british citizenship
great video, very interesting.
You are awsome! Thanks you!
Thx for the advice Dutch pilot girl
you were going to give me a one-on-one flying lesson,I'm sure about the sky ,maybe I can contribute to you
I have seen this sofa, speakers and background somewhere before :) Maybe the Mentour Pilot? :D
What is the best pilot training school? My dream is to be a Airline Pilot!
Me too !!
What's your nationality ?
Great video really inspirational I really wanna become a pilot what flight school did u go to ?
Hi Dutch Pilot Girl. So can there be scholarships offered to candidates who ace pilot school theory and practical, together with a certain number of flying hours. An airline for instance, employing and taking up the loan tab? There are bright and talented minds out there who need the chance.
Funny, before this video I saw and add from the European Flight Academy which proposed a 20.000 Euros
I am proud of my country 3:30. The Czech Republic
Can u make a video about height requirement to become a pilot ? I’m 5’1 can I become a pilot
Can a pilot wear glasses?
Yes - provided the vision can be corrected to normal.
I'm new for you're video this video is amazing can you tell me where are you from
thanks!
Omg en snigel haha första gången!
pls do suggest which airlines has a solid connection with bank, i really cant find any
When do gou start to pay back the loan?
@@khiladi7975 she said it in the video asshole
Its the prime time music😂
the only plane that matters is a 747. Since that is now unavailable to fly, why bother?
please i want to know the main topics for maths and physics so i can master them before my training begins. 🙏🏻
I wish to become a good pilot
Wizz air private academy Romania 45000 €
Are some of these options realistic ? Like can you get a loan from a dutch bank to do pilot training in a cheaper country ? Actually I'm kind of surprised that in the Netherlands banks give out loans like that ? I live in NZ the NZ government cut drastically the amount they would loan to students for pilot training, because many students that graduated couldn't get good airline jobs and the loans weren't paid back. No way a private bank here would give out a loan. Here the realistic option is rich parents basically ! ha ha. Or possibly joining the airforce (but the airforce is small and getting pilot training is very selective).
Aer Lingus is hiring people and training them for free at the moment
Thank you so much :)
Hello DutchGirl,
I’m from San Diego, California. Have you ever been here to visit me?

0:36 Ay Czech Airlines :)
