- Six years ago, Calais's infamous Jungle migrant camp was demolished by French police. Today, the camp itself has gone, but the migrants and the smugglers who profit from them remain. In fact, they are more numerous than ever before, with a record number of people attempting to cross the Channel in August 2022. The situation is putting a strain on relations between France and the United Kingdom.

I find it incredible that the French can’t stop for the flow of migrants with the money we pay them. Why can’t the immigrants claim asylum in France. Or in Morocco for that matter.

It’s all about benefits. France blame Britain as migrants know they will receive best benefits in UK. If we stop this it will gradually stop people smugglers & this insane dash from up to 60,000 per day across channel in suicidal overcrowded dinghies.
UK would have to put up with tents up everywhere , except too far up North and certainly not in Orkney lol .But that is whats happening all over France .Paris is heaving with them . But that DOES STOP THE PULL FACTOR as majority of these tented are heading for the UK easy street .French are right..Stop the Pull factor and put up possible 75000 tents springing up and the word will soon get round..UK easy street has ended and living in a tent or in a doorway is worse than their homeland .The winters are horrible, the weather is horrible, It rains half the year

There are 30 year housing waiting lists in the UK, shortage of medical treatment. I would love to live in France, I know some English that have moved there. Buying homes and working, Brexitt or not. There is not a joint effort to resolve the issue.

It accepts several times as many refugees as the UK does. In addition they take care of those that the UK refuses to set up asylum offices for.
