Hey have you seen the current 100% record at 31:15 by Yasichi? There's a really neat ultra hop directly to cling gem that doesn't go to the side of the room
they give you a little extra distance on a jump, same reason why you'll see hundo runners do wall kicks during bhop chains, extends air time for more speed. without the greaves (or +1 wall kick upgrade which will just give u a single wall kick) the jump there is just barely not possible @@zzztopspin
I support your question, most of my series of dash cancel-dash are inconsistent cause i sometimes get a jump in my sequence, and sometimes I can't get the jump when I want it. If I had more detail on frames on this trick, it'll be cool.
When you suddenly go back and jump at the same time you do a back-sideflip like in Mario64, but when you also have the afterimages from other techniques you get a super hop. If you watch closely you see the S key tapped for 1 frame to activate the sideflip when going forward
