  • Shot by shot, frame by frame, this is the most accurate high definition replication of the original theatrical trailer for "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" out there.
For the first time ever, see the original theatrical trailer in High Definition. All previous versions of the trailer, including those on the recent Bluray releases, were "up-converted" but not given a proper remaster like the films themselves.
There are a few shots which were undoubtedly created/edited specially for the trailer and did not end up in the finished film, however, I have switched those few out with what I felt was the closest/best representation. A few shots/takes have a long duration in the trailer than how it was cut for the film, so they're a few frames off. The proper aspect ratio has been restored as well.
This is the comparison video. Here is a link to the original OR you can find it at the end of this video:

All I really saw is that one was brighter than the other

This movie was always unique because of how dark and brooding the whole thing was. This remaster is WAYYYY too vibrant and bright. It’s supposed to look like a period piece!

The original on the left with no color boosting looks so much better.

bizzarrogeorge mega wrong. Take those nostalgia goggle right off. Every film study knows that a crisper beautiful image with eye satisfying colors look better in this situation. If the movie is meant to be drained out and grainy (this movie still is grainy at times) that’s fine as long as it’s the intended image. But this just takes what the movie had an turned it into something that looks better than a 90s tv.

Blu-Ray sucks with that yellow tint.

@@thereddiablo5957 What? Having popped colours is not necessarily better. The new remaster is over saturated and has crushed blacks. And generally robs some of the mood of the film. Personally I think somewhere between the two would be ideal. The key with remastering is to stay authentic to the original look while using new technology to give it a polish.

Though I highly doubt it I hope Raiders got a new master, I thought Doom and Crusade HD masters were fine and there was no obvious huge color grading change up as obvious. Not that I dont mind the look the yellow tone it could be dialed back. I feel it worked for the jungle and desert scenes but it be nice to have the true 35mm color look again.

Probably somewhere in-between would be ideal. New remaster is good but over done with over saturated colours and crushed blacks.

Wow, they sure crushed those blacks when they did the color correction for Blu-Ray, I guess.

    Blu-Ray ruins the classic 1981.
