I changed the bearing out in my identical machine in less than 15 minutes, with thanks to your video. Thank you very much for uploading. Fixed for $5 :).
Helpful video for the disassembly and reassembly. After I completed reassembly the machine was much quieter but the coffee was more water than coffee. There is a C clip on the short metal water tube. It's connected to the hose under the button assembly. Make sure the opening in the C clip lines up with the notch in the assembly that you press it down into. If its not lined up you'll get watery coffee.
Great eye! This was happening to me and as I was looking in where the metal tube sat I just barely noticed this tiny raised part on the seating surface that needs to sit in the open part of the c-clip. Im assuming its there so the silicone head has even pressure applied to the entire circumference of its seating surface. I noticed this machine seems to be VERY well engineered and with quality materials all throughout.
Thank you so much for this video!! You gave such clear and detailed instructions. It was easy to follow along (with strategic pausing 😅) and now I have a machine that sounds like it is fresh out of the box. It’s so quiet and I am so great full!!
This video is a lifesaver. My 8 year old machine simply stopped spinning in the middle of a brewing cycle and was just flashing the white light twice repeatedly. Saw another video about cleaning the head but that made no difference. Disassembled my machine and found the bearing had completely shredded and was seizing. $7 later I have a working machine again that is both quieter than before and making better coffee. This simple fix saved me from having to spend $$$ on a new machine. Thanks!
Brilliant solution, thank you! I was about to sing taps and garbage ours because of the 747 launching from the kitchen every morning. I’m happy to fix it thanks to your vid. 😊
I’ve had my machine since 2015 and it was getting very, VERY loud. Just did the bearing change with your help, and it’s already changing my life!🤩 Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for the great tip! I replaced the bearing and it’s much quieter. My kids can now sleep a bit longer cause our kitchen no longer sounds like a rocket launch. Thanks
Yup, already ordered my parts. Thanks for making this video. I suspected it was something like a bearing. Glad to see how easy it was and takes 5 mins to replace. My sleeping wife will be thankful when I do my “Morning Coffee Routine”
Super helpful video. I bought the parts and special tools and replaced my bearing and now it's whisper quiet and makes more froth than it has since new. My Tips: Make sure all the parts are seated well. When putting the cover back on, put it on very level left to right and seat the front first and then snap the backside in place. The small screwdriver is useful to use as a lever to spread the top. Upon reassembly, I had issues with the lever not working right, had to take it all back apart and reassemble. It should go back together easy. If not, see if you've seated something wrong. Keep up with all the parts. That front spring is an easy one to lose. It's not emphasized in the video. You may want to take a picture of it once you have the cover off so you have a reference on how it should look with everything in place. Anyway, mine's like new now and making great coffee again, very quietly! Thank you GTRsquared!
Thank you! This worked!! I first found this video because I was just looking for a general disassembly guide. The metal lever to open up the top was very loose, so with the first few minutes I was able to open it up and replace a missing screw with one that was close enough. Then while I was here, I went ahead and ordered the bearing and replaced it. So much quieter!
Thanks for this video! I just fixed my coffee maker and though it wasn't as easy as the video makes it look, I will no longer be waking up my neighbors when I make my morning cup!
OMG! Thank you for this wonderful video. I just did mine and was TRULY AMAZED this machine was as quiet as it was. I don't ever remember it being this quiet even when it was brand new
I have done the repair and it is a great tutorial. Good job. It is now super quiet and we barely hear it. It cost me 1.25$ for a bearing (12.50 for a pack of 10). Crazy !
It was working well but the bearings are crap and made of zinc which rust pretty quickly. The link for part number must be changed to a better bearing quality. Not sealed and takes water which makes your coffee undrinkable. Need better parts.
Thank you so much. Our bearing had metal shards and I am ordering a replacement. The Amazon link to bearing is helpful. Subscribing to your channel and looking forward to watching the Koi pond videos.
Thank you so much! The difference is amazing! And I can feel how gritty and rough the old bearing is compared to the new. I ran a rinse cycle a few times just to hear it purr
Thank you so much for This! JUST SOME ADVICE FOR OTHERS.... take a picture of the spreading Springs before removing them. It's very difficult to see on the video how they go back in place. I had to go to my large screen on my computer and pause so that I could see that the loops go on the pegs😂
Thank you so much! Worked perfectly fine for me. What a difference!!! It was so bad I had to put noise cancelling headphones to hear what's going on in the meetings while making a cup of coffee 2 meters away from my desk.
I appreciate this video. Someone gave me a loud machine along with some pods. I swapped out the bearing and reassembled it, NOT being careful to align the unlocking mechanism! I now have a few 1/4" holes in the front to manually unlock the top. Problem solved, unit reassembled properly, and I'm not even a hilbilly.
very great video. Just make sure unplugging the machine prior removing the lid. And use a food grade ball bearing. The small steel tube must be placed carefully. There’s a small black circlip which must be positioned into a small rib on its counterpart. This repair adds years of lifetime to this machine.
Excellent video -my go to video for repairing my Nespresso machine. It should be noted that not all bearings are created equal -I had a brand new one rust out on me. If you forget to unlatch and ejected the pod -the moisture from the wet coffee in the pod can rust a typical steel bearing. However, they do make bearings that are impervious to rust - the "100% Ceramic Bearing". They can be expensive, but they are worth it as I am sure they likely outlast the machine.
Thank you! This was well described and helped a lot! If I can make one suggestions if you do other videos like this, try and zoom in a bit on the action more. I started with my phone but needed to switch to my laptop so I could actually see some of the moves you were doing. Once I saw, I was able to replicate without effort though! Thanks again, it's like having a brand new machine again! I used the opportunity while this portion was in part to clean them off!
Wow! Thank you so much! Just replaced the bearing and it’s so quiet, I’m amazed! Thanks a lot for sharing, I will too share the experience You’re my new best friend 😊
this was very helpful thank you! But I've learned that the bearing has to be stainless steel otherwise it'll rust within a couple weeks and you'll have the same problem
I'm glad the video was helpful. The description of my Amazon bearings is "Alloy Steel", as far as I know it isn't stainless. I've been using mine everyday for over 4 months now and it still works perfectly. I'll link to them in the description.
For anyone hoping to fix a Vertuo Next using this video, the Next is more complicated. It uses two bearings (one larger, one small, neither the same as these). Overall not a complicated disassembly and mine ultimately just needed a thorough cleaning of all moving parts and the bearings were fine. The symptom on mine wasn't noise; I was having to manually turn the mechanism every morning as it would stick and throw an error. If anyone needs guidance opening theirs let me know. The next time I do maintenance on it, I will take the time to measure the bearings and replace them.
We did the whole process and placed in a new bearing, the machine worked fine until it did not make coffee but just watery mix. So we took it all apart and checked to make sure everything is seated fine. It seemed like the machine was not sucking water through the lines anymore. We did a reset according to the Nespresso instructions. Still nothing. Has anyone encountered that problem?
Is there some trick to get the front of top cover off? I can't get it to budge. The back comes of easily. Also does anyne know how to get to the inside to replace the power cord?
Much quieter now! However, the coffee is much weaker. I tried doing g the factory reset which seemed to make a difference with only a few cups. Tried the reset again and no luck. Any suggestions?
Hmmm, not sure, the only thing I can think of is that the hose connection has come loose and not all the water is shooting into the pod. I would look at that connection again. The one at about 7:30 into the video.
made this repair but now the center hole punch is about 3-4 times the size and looks like its torn and the coffee seems watery and the old pod isn't exiting and we need to manually dislodge it. Any ideas to correct this? Also it seems it took a lot of pressure to push down the large spring in the middle and to keep it locked in
Check that the part where the water comes out into the capsule is not blocked. She has to move up. There is a spring and it can get stuck, ruining the capsule and creating a huge hole in its center.

Good day, I disassembled my vertuoline and I check the bearing(original) part number and it’s a S6901RSC3, C3 mean internal radial clearance greater then normal. So the one you suggest will fit to? Also is it more quiet if I put an abec 5 instead of 1? Thank you.
Did you manage to get it off? I don't recall having any problem getting it off, but it might just need a little persuasion with some pliers. Good luck with it, come back and comment if you got it.
One caveat that drove me crazy…if the stainless steel tube pops out of the silicone water feed tube, just don’t just place it anywhere in the hole. The “mouth” of the c-clip on it fits between a raised notch on where it sits. Set it first, then place the tube on it. Look closely…if it is not perfectly seated it will leak water passed the capsule and you’ll get watery coffee.
Yes this! Take it apart and when you put the little metal tube back in, there's a notch in the flat c shaped ring that has to line up with the tab on the top of the cover for that piece. Then the rubber hose drops in flush, so you get solid water pressure and no back flow. I disassembled this thing three times before finding that tip in the comments here....
This fixed my watery coffee after changing the bearing. THANKS. As John said, place the stainless pc into the black plastic hole so the notch is aligned and then just push the tube on top.
Great video, made replacing the bearing quite easy. However after the bearing replacement (it is very quiet now) the coffee comes out inconsistent, mostly very weak/watery with little to no crema and the odd time closer to normal but have wasted a lot of pods. Also did a full descaling even though I did this pre bearing replacement with no change. Watched the video again several times and disassembled the machine and reassembled two more times with the same result. What did I do wrong or is something else going on?
I think I know what you mean. How easily did your bearing spin in your hand before you installed it? I experimented with another bearing and carefully popped the sides off of the bearing with razor knife and cleaned out almost all of the grease. After putting it back together it spun much more easily. I put that bearing into the Nespresso and I could tell it was spinning faster and I did get more crema for sure.
@@gtrsquared919 It felt quite free but I will pull it apart again and check, also have a spare bearing and will test it as well. Thank you for the response, much appreciated.
Okay, removed the bearing, popped the sides off and rinsed the bearing before applying a high performance lithium grease and then reassembled. I was surprised at the grime in the new bearing already but we seem to be back in business w/ strong coffee and great crema. Your assistance is truly appreciated.
Omg! 6 dollars and 15 minutes later, I've for a brand new machine! I've already fixed two of my friends machines and they can't believe the difference. Shame on Nespresso for designing the bearing so that it can get contaminated from coffee
I have replaced the Bering and it only stays quiet for a short time then it gets loud again and I replace the Bering again and same result. What do you suggest next.
Sorry for the delayed response. Did you find a solution for your short bearing life? I know there are different quality of bearings available, the ones that I linked are still working for my machine. Maybe you received a bad batch of bearings?
Did what you said with the lid, put it into the lock position, held the lock and snapped it back on, now the lid is stuck and I can't open it... anyone using this video, don't set the lid and locking mechanism to the "lock position " when putting the lid back on. If not done correctly, the lid will jam shut and you wont be able to open it again.
At 4:53 I seem to have a problem. I can't push it down and it's refusing to be turned anticlockwise. I feel like it's glued or maybe just got stuck because the machine seems to have been quite heavily used... Will try to apply a bit more force. Hopefully won't snap any plastic
I did have to push down pretty hard, all the plastic in this area seems pretty robust, I wasn't concerned with anything breaking. Good luck with the repair.
@@gtrsquared919 Alright thanks. I got it to open . My purpose was to just clean it up as I got this machine used and cleaning cycles didn't help. it just keeps giving yellow water with coffee residue. The seller claimed it was barely used so I didn't expect it to be so dirty. Of course every piece inside was disgusting and full of coffee. I still haven't opened it from the bottom because of the difficult screws. Now that I cleaned the top parts, I unfortunately still got yellow water after the cleaning cycle. I guess next try is to descale...
In my experience, I have had weak, watery coffee too. It was from the pod not spinning fast enough to extract the coffee properly. Near the end of the cycle the rpms increase and I would get normal, dark coffee, but only for that last 10 seconds or so. Replacing the bearing also solved that problem for me.
😩😩😩 we accidentally put the cover on incorrectly (the top was engaged in lock position but we put the cover on while unlocked) - now it's stuck. Do you know if there is any fix for getting the cover open to reassemble it in the locked/locked position?
What size of bearing did you use? I just got this machine in second use and it’s making this sound. Is it normal for the opening and closing of the machine to be hard?
The bearing was a 6901, I got mine from Amazon for a couple of dollars. Ideally it should be stainless steel. The rotating of the chrome lever feels firm and solid, but it shouldn't really be hard to move.
Just got a used Vertuo Plus yesterday with this problem. This is the only DIY video I can find. Can you elaborate what about his video won’t work for the Plus? The disassembly instructions? Or the actual part?
@@gtrsquared919 thanks!! Finally got it with a lot of elbow juice and wiggeling out the « tongues » that overlap with a flat screwdriver! It almost felt fused there 😅

Glad it worked out for you and were able to help your friends!
Maybe you received a bad batch of bearings?
where can i buy the rim?
Did what you said with the lid, put it into the lock position, held the lock and snapped it back on, now the lid is stuck and I can't open it... anyone using this video, don't set the lid and locking mechanism to the "lock position " when putting the lid back on. If not done correctly, the lid will jam shut and you wont be able to open it again.
Perfect thanks
There are many types of 6901. Which one did you purchase?
Here is the description from my Amazon order.
6901-2RS Rubber Sealed Deep Groove Ball Bearing 12x24x6mm
😩😩😩 we accidentally put the cover on incorrectly (the top was engaged in lock position but we put the cover on while unlocked) - now it's stuck. Do you know if there is any fix for getting the cover open to reassemble it in the locked/locked position?
we got it! perfect fix to our obnoxiously loud machine - it purrs now. thank you!
@stella zimmerman hi, i have the same issue, how did you open it?
What size of bearing did you use? I just got this machine in second use and it’s making this sound. Is it normal for the opening and closing of the machine to be hard?
The bearing was a 6901, I got mine from Amazon for a couple of dollars. Ideally it should be stainless steel. The rotating of the chrome lever feels firm and solid, but it shouldn't really be hard to move.
@@gtrsquared919 would there be certain measurements?
12mm x 24mm x 6mm
Can you come do this to mine🥺
I'm sure you can do it, It isn't too hard.
Not for Vertuo Plus version…for those that are looking for that
Just got a used Vertuo Plus yesterday with this problem. This is the only DIY video I can find. Can you elaborate what about his video won’t work for the Plus? The disassembly instructions? Or the actual part?
Anyone stuck at 4:59? That top thats held with the big spring just looks completely fused there 🤦🏻♀️
Did you manage to get it? You need to push down pretty hard and rotate it at the same time.
@@gtrsquared919 thanks!! Finally got it with a lot of elbow juice and wiggeling out the « tongues » that overlap with a flat screwdriver! It almost felt fused there 😅
Mine os is liking 😓
