Hitting One of the Gnarliest Trails in Santa Cruz (DAY 2) July 15, 2024

- This is Day 2 of our trip to Santa Cruz. Our plan was to go up and hit as many trails as we could but not hit any of the same trails twice. We had a blast on all the trails on Day 1. It's such a majestic place to ride under giant Redwood trees.
On Day 2 the goal was to the gnarlier trails. The first trail of the day a really steep chute, it looked so intimidating from the top but it actually wasn't that bad once you dropped in. All the trails of Day 2 were amazing. We saved the gnarliest trail for last.
I was warned about this trail and I was nervous because I know it's really sketchy this time of year. I thought it was just going to be steep but what makes it so gnarly is it's very technical as well. This was the high light of my trip I was puckered up most of the trail. I made it down 80% but the last section was the gnarliest part. It is very loose and very steep, there is a very technical rock section that you have to thread through a big tree and 4 big boulders. After that is another very steep section. I made it through the rock section but didn't make it on the 2nd section.
It got me this time but I am stoked I got to see it and plan to clean it next time (in the winter). After the ride Kasey and made the 7 hr drive home. We stopped by a brewery on the way home. I didn't make it home til after midnight. It was a long trip but definitely worth it.
Nice to have you in our neck of the woods! You did some of our dopest trails and you took some tough lines but made it through good job 🫡🫡 the last trail 😂😂😂😂 you boys earned my respect ✊

That last trail, so steep and I know in person it is way steeper than the camera shows. Great video you guys killed it!

@152killa yeah I rode Santa Cruz once before and it was after the rain and it was amazing 👌 that last trail was super sketchy in these conditions for sure

@rogereheadbyrne4790 thanks brotha 🙏 the camera struggled a lot in some of the areas that were really dark due to all the tree coverage but overall it was good. Funny how it doesn't look as steep on camera than it did in real lofe
nice riding brotha love the videos. im assuming those aren't all downhill and you had to pedal. how does it pedal? Just put the seat up and down?
@brennansmullen76 yeah you have to pedal to the top each time. The climbs are really long and steep but the downhill is amazing

Well, I hate to break the news to you guys but the land you were riding on is owned by the University of Santa Cruz and they are planning to remove all bike trails that have been illegally built on their property.
@michaellee9883 I hate to break it to you but these trails ain't going anywhere. The Karen's have been saying it would be torn down for over 6 years now and it hasn't happened. I think you just need to deal with it. Let people have fun hiking and enjoy the trails on their bikes not sure why it bothers you so much.

All I said was that the land that the bike trail is on is owned by the University of Santa Cruz and they are planning to remove all trails that have been built illegally on their property. I have nothing to do with this. I don’t live in Santa Cruz. It’s too expensive and there’s too many Democrats.
Nice riding in shit conditions! I live just south of Santa Cruz and I don't ride most of those trails in the summer--a couple of them not ever!
