😱😲😳 …I jest, this was actually great to watch, and can totally relate. I stumbled into Tarot and Tarot Tube late 2020…and then went mad buying ALL the decks. I have no idea how many I have because I’m afraid to count them up. But it’s too many, and I’m now starting to get a better sense what style of decks I actually like to read with, vs what my fantasy/ideal self thinks I need. @@HazelJaneTarot I wish I could say the same…I stopped watching her Hot Take videos for a few months, avoided a lot of unboxing videos, managed to stop my impulse buying for quite a while. So feeling too confident I could resist, watched her latest one…ended up getting 4 decks. I’m hopeless. 😂
I am so impressed you said you double check to insure every card is present before you send out a deck. I purchase “complete” decks on eBay and Amazon to save money. I do not want or willingly purchase incomplete decks. When the deck comes in I double check to make sure it is complete. I find the decks are rarely in order and periodically when I put them in order, I find they are missing a card and sometimes several cards. This means I have to take the time to contact the seller, make a claim with eBay, print out a shipping label, repack the deck, Drive to the post office, using my gas (I live in the country and the PO is quite a distance from my home) and mail the item. All of this costs me time and money, all because the seller didn’t take the time to put the deck in order. Bless you!

I do thinks it's normal at the beginning of any hobby. You don't know how you read, or what works for you, so just all the pretty things in the beginning. Plus you have nothing to compare against, initially. But as you work with decks, and figure yourself out, you become more discerning and nit-picky. Nothing wrong with that. Sad to see some of them go, as they seem interesting and cool. But to each their own. I do think sometimes it's just not time to work with a deck. I have a couple that I knew I wanted, and acquired during the pandemic, but still haven't worked with yet. I also have space, and that's a big factor. Good luck! Thanks for sharing.

I was a little shocked about the shimmering veil because you seem to love the cards and I thought you could just read it as a regular deck with art you loved but I totally get it if you are not going to use it. I understand wanting to keep your cards at a reasonable number and leave a little space 😀
Space is the big issue for me! My other half has a lot of stuff too. It's nearly one in one out for books in our house at the minute. I've found a very good home for Shimmering Veil though. ❤

IKR? It's been on my WL forever since it's so pricey to get to me. I do have Margarete Petersen's 20 anniversary edition though (which I liked better than the white/gray version🤷 plus I'll edge it) which is scratching the itch for now but seeing this nearly made me cry LOL!
I agree with you on the Margarette Peterson deck, I just can’t! I tried so hard, but nah, nothing! Everyone raved about it at the time ….. I was like “What’s wrong with me?” I think I have the same format as you. Enjoyed seeing the decks your letting go of, I found myself nodding along 😝

I just cannot read with more abstract art decks. I like looking at abstract art in museums and galleries, but not in a Tarot deck. I always put the cards back in order when I trade or sell a deck. I’m always surprised when I get one (traded bought second hand) that’s not in order. Seems like good Tarot etiquette to me! ☺️ I’m just not sure what happened with TWU archetypes deck. Some of the images are just plain awful. It really feels as if the creator rushed through it. With you on the Divine Feminine deck. There is just something off-putting about it. OMG! Tarot of the Cloisters!!!!! Well, at least you’ll be able to sell it for a good price! For the longest time I was in search of it, and then after watching a walk through I realized it really wasn’t for me. Shimmering Veil…. Same as Margarete Peterson….. can’t read it!!!!! Good for you for figuring out what doesn’t work for you and moving the decks along! I love your idea of pulling a card when trying to figure out stay or go! I’m going to give that a try! I’m not in shock at all about the decks you’re letting go. Each to their own… what works for one person doesn’t work for everybody! Good luck moving these decks along! 💚💚💚

If you don't use it perhaps it us waiting for the right person! Never thought of that, but yeah I do that with my shadow work decks. The wild unknown it seems like everyone has it. I was never attracted to this deck. One deck also that everyone seems to have is moonology deck. I just bought this in a swap group for $10

It’s interesting because I had a different experience in 2020. I bought no deck that year nor in 2021 until October. I was in a place where I needed a break from tarot .. so my practice was minimal and I wasn’t interested in anything new. Are these decks you got in 2020 ? Some of these decks, I never saw before. It’s great to know where you stand in your practice. Personally, I tend to sit on decks I never used until I get to use them. I just can’t afford buying them again if I get to want to use them
That's so interesting that you didn't buy tarot during this time. I'm not sure if all of these were purchased in 2020/21. Some may have been in the previous years. I definitely have some I haven't used that I'm just keeping until I want to. Rebuying is just not an option with the price of some!!!

Kim krans' Archetypes deck was def an ideal-self purchase for me - oh how I yearned to be the cool leather-jacket wearing girl with her round, broodingly monochromatic cards, their edges softened by daily shuffling and darkened with candle and incense ash... Turns out I get more of a kick from the stupid 100-card Buzzfeed Oracle Deck than I do from anything Wild Unknown 😂😂🤣🤣
I passed on my Dark Mansion as well. In retrospect, I should never have bought it. The thing that bothered me about the art...bothered me until the end...the weird long skinny necks. I have an older version of the Crystal Tarot that doesn't have the blue circle in the borders...I like it better than the one they sell now, but I saw Esther at Mindful Tarot do a thing that might just work for me with that deck. She took really good pictures of it, and made one printed copy with larger images. I just don't have the patience. I also have a copy of the real Cloisters deck. I never use it, but I like to look at it. And yes, your right. When the market gets bogged down with counterfits...who knows what the real decks are worth? So, I might give it to someone who really really wants it (I don't have the box anymore, just the book) but until then, it stays. I have a similar feeling about Shimmering Veil. I've held it in my hand, and I just don't think it's my kind of tarot deck. Go figure. My collection keeps growing, but at this point, I have space, and I like what I have...but every once in a while.
Yes if you've got the space then there's no urgency to move anything on. And yes if I can't get a good home for Cloisters I'll keep it. The long necks... lol. I wonder is that what bothers me. Thanks for watching x

Ooh the Dingle Peninsula and The Ring of Kerry below are full of ancient standing stones, dolmens etc. If you can do the boat trip out to Skellig Michael that really is awesome. There was an ancient monastic settlement there. Dingle is a great town. Enjoy!

Oh I didn't know they're was a gloss version. This was very hard to shuffle at the start because it's so matte but it worked in OK when I shuffled it a bit.
@@HazelJaneTarot yeah, mine is the 4th edition I think, they changed a couple things & despite what Taroteca says, they're still too shiny (for my liking), like glossier US Games stock, meh. This 3rd version is still available, I just can't justify it til I do something with the 4th one that I have.
I feel like i should do a purge but I always fear, if i get rid of it i might want it for a future thing or a future video. I also get a lot of Kickstarter that we cant get again.

I had both the Margarete and Shimmering Veil decks, both beautiful but just couldn't work with them. I've gone down from 100+ decks to 12 and can still cut a few loose honestly. The thought of all those decks sitting on my shelf still makes me feel physically sick. 😩 Cool for everyone else to buy and collect but for me it became a burden, not a blessing.

I enjoyed your video and understand most of your choices. I like variety in my own collection which is why I have things like the Shimmering Veil - I don’t use that for journaling I use it for straight readings and it works really well. But to each her own of course! 🫣

I think I need to give Victorian Romantic a bit longer before I decide I've way or another about it. But honestly... I've used it twice.
