Thank you Martin and Sharon for showing us how you cleaned your air fryer. Just goes to show, when these things are designed, they don't really consider how they can be cleaned. Perhaps when they make the next version, the designers will consider a model that can be partially dismantled for cleaning. You did a great job considering all those difficulties.

I’ve been racking my brains over how to clean this part of my air fryer as well. This video has helped me so much! The bent tooth brush is a lifesaver -- I tried this and it worked an absolute treat. I also sprayed some oven cleaner on a paper towel and swished it around the fan area and all the nooks and crannies using the bent toothbrush and it has lifted pretty much all of the baked on grease. Thanks for the tips!!!

I have a large single drawer AF and I give the fan and heating element area regular wipe outs with slightly damp paper towel. I wait till it cools a little, so it is still warm but not hot enough to burn. A sacrificial dishcloth (Wettex or similar) would also be a good option. You won't get it perfect ( you never do with your oven either!), but it will stop build up over time.

Thank you for the detailed procedures for cleaning this air fryer! If only Ninja would take either or both of your suggestions and redesign this to be easier to clean! You gave the most descriptive methods, though. Even the owner's manual does not go into these details. However, they do recommend cleaning the unit entirely after each use! I did not anticipate having to do this when I purchased it. I've had mine for about 3 months and am going to clean it at least once monthly. Probably going to use baking soda and vinegar paste instead of a commercial cleaner. Now to the big oven! 😃😃

Thankfully my air fryer is still new, so I don't have to worry about that atm. I am still learning how to use it, I nearly burnt the house down the other day doing chicken kiev's to close to the top, learnt that lesson quickly. I would of set the smoke alarms off again last night (but I was babysitting it), found out it can blow the plastic off ready made meals (the ones you prick in a conventional oven). Thankfully I was there when plumbs of smoke came out of it. It's a big learning curve, but I'm loving my air fryer

My ninja dual basket air fryer gets used probably at least a dozen times a week.
like yours over time the top of the unit got so bad that it smokes.
I've clean mine a few times but not a deep clean like that. Lemon dish soap and boiling water with a great idea. In the bent toothbrush was good. I have large hands I have a hard time getting into small spaces.
I Have the same problem working on modern cars, my hands are too big.
I couldn't think of a way to clean the inside as well as I can clean the baskets.
I even considered disassembling My dual basket ninja for thorough deep clean. Mine is well outside it's warranty.
    Thank you very much.

Thank you for this video, it really helped me. However, during the cleaning process I found an easier way to clean the unit. Remove the front phillip screw from the heating coil, pull up the heating coil slowly and at the same time unhook it from the back clip. Note, DO NOT completely remove the Coil or back clip
Both Coils are connected to each other so clean one side at a time and put it back together before cleaning the other side
Use a #10 Socket Wrench to Remove the fan. Turn the nut clockwise to remove nut, lock washer and flat washer. I also used a small steel brush the size of a toothbrush and plumbing sandpaper that comes in a small roll. And a wet towel. It took a while but finally got it cleaned.

Absolutely brilliant video . I was only on about this to my daughter the other day that i needed to give my air fryer a good clean and you guys come up with this. I always use the method of putting an inch or so of water & washing up liquid in and putting it on high for 5-10 mins as it loosens so much built up grease etc. great tip with the toothbrush👍.

I clean my bins and crisper tray after use and if it's baked on I use soap powder to soak in hot water. Good idea to put the soapy bins in the air fryer and turn on for 10 mins, I'll do that from now on. I wonder if it's possible to remove the elements and fan blade. May be too tricky.
    Thanks for the video guys.
With our old double oven, which we don't use anymore, we used to say 'shall we clean the ovens or just buy a new one' 😂

I have this air fryer. I LOVE IT. It is so useful and simple to use. I clean it every week. I do the lemon water cook like you BUT weekly. It spotlessly cleans out top and bottom. You took a simple process and make it a difficult one by hoarding your mess. Lol.
❤There is an easy way, ❤CLEAN IT OFTEN. LOL

Hi Sharon and Martin Just to add a foot note to your video. I have the new ninja smart. When I pulled out the tray the alarm kept going off and the fan stayed on . So did the usual things unplugged and left it off all night. So what I did is quarter filled draws with cold water and put them both on air fry 20 mins, and pulling out the draws it seems to have done the trick. Now working properly😊 Hope this is of some use. I have had my ninja since March with no problems till now

Thank you for this video and I agree they should make them self cleaning air fryers or at least come up with a much easier way to keep these things clean. I know it’s not easy to clean them as you go along but still they’ve gotta make it easier for us to keep them clean by have a removable pieces that we can take it apart, clean it and put it back together without losing our minds over it.

If you don't want to use a dishwasher tablet people a spot of citric acid or good old fashioned soda crystals work well BUT use gloves and watch your eyes for splashes and clean it well away after. May I also make another minor suggestion whatever you've used to deep clean with?? I run my airfryer empty on max temp for around 10 minutes after, so it burns away the odour and residue from the unit. Ventilate your kitchen well!!

I had never cleaned mine up above the elements . Had it 14 months. After watching your video I looked and it was like yours . Very dirty. I wipe and wash pans every use but never cleaned inside the elements
You did a good job, but made hard work of it.
I can suggest a much easier way. I used my regular oven cleaner which is called “ Oven Mate “ oven cleaner kit. You get a bottle of gel cleaner and in the box there is a double ended brush for getting into awkward bits . You bush the gel on and leave it a short time and wipe it off .
I wiped it off with kitchen paper the used a wet J Cloth . Did do a
lot of wiping clean but no hard rubbing needed. After I got it as clean as I could I filled pans with hot water and did a crisp run like you did for ten minutes to remove any excess . Wiped it down again and it was very clean . The pans I wash daily but was surprised how the gel ovens cleaner did a good job on them as well getting in all corners etc. so I recommend using Oven Mate cleaner .Much easier to use and no rubbing .

Hi Sharon and Martin, still loving your great videos, thank you.
I have always used something called Oven Mate, on my main oven, I know you said Sharon does not like to 7 use chemicals, but this seems to be odourless.
I used to get it from Kleeneze, but they have gone now, just found that Amazon stock it.
Just done my 400 dual, bit of a pain to get in there, but it's just a paint on leave for 30 mins and wipe off, then I do the lemon and boiling bit.
    Perhaps this will help someone

you could soak cotton wool with baking soda and vinegar leave it overnight then wipe off the next day. I do that around my toilet because of limescale works wonders.

I use a mixture of Oven Pride, Wash-up liquid, a non scratch scrubber and a toothbrush, Bar Keepers Friend and my Steam Cleaner. Loads of Kitchen Roll.
Very messy process but it works for me! Probably once a month on the main unit. I never let the tray get bad.

I undid the four screws in the drawer and removed the handle and popped the tray/pot in the dishwasher and once out rubbed remainder of fat/tarnish off with a dry cloth and replaced handle and screws, nice and easy and looks good (do so once a month)

Sharon is spot on with the self cleaning ovens Martin. We have the same (now almost redundant) Flavel like yours. Anytime that gets hot and cooks food is horrible to clean. I wonder if a flexible bottle brush in the cordless would help. Maybe not though.
