I think if a woman engineer worked on the Cosori Air Fryer, she would have had a clip on the heating element so it could be unclipped to fold down and then…..easy peasy to clean! 🤔 Once done, fold it back up and clip!

Problem with self cleaning is it requires so much heat that the non stick coating would burn off, only way it would work is if they used stainless steel instead of non stick but that would be even more difficult to clean even with self cleaning

I used mine for about three months. I generally do not grease or oil food, even if the recipe says to. Always washed after each time, wiped what I could see inside it. However when it started smoking a lot, it became obvious it needed a good clean. Most of the oil and fat buildup was in places that could not be seen. My husband is an engineer so taking it all apart was easy for him...the gunk inside it was awful. Cleaning like what was demonstrated here would have gotten even near that because you couldnt see it. There needs to be some major re-designing here to make cleaning easy and the use of the machine itself safer to prevent fires.

TIP: If you want to know if your air fryer is clean or dirt cook hard boiled eggs in the air fryer. 250 for 20 min. If the eggs come back speckled with brown stuff you didn't clean your air fryer good enough. Dunk those eggs in cold water and clean it agian then enjoy your eggs. I use vinegar to clean my deep fryer and it works well and I don't have to worry about any chemically after tastes. Fun fact: Restaurants use vinegar for cleaning ti's safe.

When the eggs were done, they were speckled with grease.I thought that is strange. When it cooled, I turned it over to find that my heating coil and surround were greasy. I won't let that happen again. It only takes a minute after everything has cooled to give it a quick rub down with a paper towel".

Two important points you missed (or maybe I missed them?)--
    1. Put a towel down on the counter before you turn your AF over onto its top. You don't want to scratch up the touch screen surface.
    2. When scrubbing the cooking element and its surroundings, don't use so much liquid or spray, that it will run into the top of the AF while you are cleaning it. Getting the soap and/or water into the electronic part of the machine could mess up the controls. If you aren't sure if you got water or soap into the electronic part of the machine, leave the bucket out of it overnight....this will give it more ventilation to dry out.
Thank you for your videos!!! I love them!

The deep cleaning behind the coil is basically impossible in the Phillips model. Sad as that is the one we shelled out for ! Some good ideas in the comments below though. I have no idea why everyone seems to struggle with the baskets and drawers - they are so easy ! Nothing like a sink of super very hot water with Extreme Dawn and a good soak. Just clean them every time !
I always take off all the fat first with paper towel as we are on acreage with a septic tank. Fat is a killer for septic systems !
I really appreciate the suggestion of wiping down the element each time - that should help a little. I also just thought that maybe using bamboo sticks between the elements to push a cleaning cloth under the Phillips coil might really help too.....

I'm new to your great videos! Two tips for cleaning--I don't own an air fryer yet-- 1. Use a brush for glassware on the teflon slotted areas instead of a q-tip. You should find it does a great job in hot soapy water. 2. UNPLUG the unit. The heating element SHOULD be removable. Check ur manual or call customer service for instructions. Remove screws and lift the element out. It should be snugly plugged into its socket. Now you should have easy access to the dirty area under the element. Completely dry everything before reassembling. Remember that HEAT is a great method for loosening stuck on food. Be careful not to over heat and keep hands safe with gloves or use utensils on hot surfaces. Do NOT use plastic brush on very hot surface as it will likely melt and leave melted plastic on the surface you were trying to clean! :-) Good luck. I'll be checking out your channel soon. Thank you for all your effort and winning personality. Not to mention the PROFESSIONAL EDITING you are doing. It really keeps us from getting bored with otherwise time-consuming tasks. Great job!!

Anyone who read your comment and tried to remove the heating element will find that their Cosori airfrier will no longer be usable. The right screw has an attachment which is not accessible when detached. This means after you take the screw off it won't be able to put back in unless you take the whole thing apart, which is what I'm desperately trying to do atm.

I LOVE your videos! Very helpful and fun to watch. You have a great personality that makes your videos a joy to watch! One hint I learned on a different youtube video was how to make the ANNOYING Beep a lower volume. I know it goes against the rules, but a guy on the youtube showed how to carefully remove the top (on the Cosori) and simply put some modeling clay over the speaker. I tried it and it really helped. It still beeps, but not as loud. To find it, I just searched "air fryer beep elimination" on youtube. My poor dog was getting traumatized over all that beeping. Hopefully the company will make it easier to lower the volume of the beep in future models. I bought my Cosori because of you - it is GREAT!

I have one of the original versions of the Phillips Air Fryers and find that cleaning it every time I use it to be painful. While the basket and housing is relatively easy, I would prefer to be able to completely remove the heating element (like we used to be able to do with stoves) to do a proper deep clean of the interior of the unit.

As per the suggestions you offered in this video, after almost 2 years, I deep cleaned my Cook's Companion Air Fryer. I always cleaned the exterior as well as the basket and insert. I admit to not cleaning between uses but I tried in vane to minimize clean up by using foil lining or a plate or both, but I still managed to leave crumbs and baked on food. Like you I used Dawn and let it sit for almost 30 minutes. I used a damp micro fiber cloth to wipe off, then graduated to a small bottle brush, then a toothbrush, then, like you, steel wool. The latter did the trick and though it cleaned up pretty well, it's impossible to thoroughly get in between each fan blade under the heating element. As an added challenge, my air fryer is slanted on the top, so I had to get creative in how to prop it up for cleaning which was achieved on the stove between burner grates. Nutshell, this air fryer is not easy to clean but I'm not one to shy away from elbow grease. You inspired to be more on top of cleaning my air fryer, which I use almost everyday. Thanks for your video.

I always wipe out the interior of my air fryer after each use. Unplug and allow to cool first, of course. I really like the Clorox Handi Wipes to do this cleaning -- they utterly will not fall apart, stick to any sharp objects inside the fryer, and so on. I just wet the Handi Wipes with warm water, then get up and clean the heating element and everything I can get to up there, then do the rest of the insides. And then I wipe down the exterior. Not really much need to do "deep cleaning" if you keep it clean every time.

I have a professional popcorn popper at the house (Gold metal) and what I found is good for cleaning the kettle is something called cream of tartar (a powder) sold in stores it's also used in some cooking recipes. mix with water make a paste out of it put it on for 10 minutes then wipe off and it cuts grease really good.
It's also good for getting that brown burned on stuff off the bottom of pans. When the kettle gets the a big layer of gunk gets built up on the bottom inside of it nothing else comes close to the effectiveness of it.

Pay attention to how easy it is to clean the heating element in the Phillips NOT ! There are many unhappy customers out there of the Phillips design who battle with cleaning this area. Of course all the air fryers build up in areas that you cannot get too but the Cosori certainly looks much better for that. I know to my cost. We clean every time and still have smoke problems. Also most of our food is sort of non-fat so goodness knows how it would be if we used lots of fat laden food. GOOD LUCK !

I use oven spray cleaner and spray the entire inside of the Air Fryer when it gets a greasy build up, then let it sit for the recommended time. I use brushes on the tough to clean spots. Then I use a rinse water spray bottle to remove the over cleaner around the heating coil area. I wipe the rest of it out with a wash cloth. I usually let it sit to for a few hours to air dry before plugging it back into the AC and preheat the air fryer without the tray put back in to burn out any left over cleaning solution before using it to cook food in.
