- Telegram claims to be one of the most privacy-focused messaging apps out there. Communication is secure and governments can't spy on their citizens. Also, Telegram doesn't collect its user data for advertising purposes unlike Facebook and its properties (Whatsapp, Messenger, Instagram...). However, this puts Telegram in a difficult position in terms of business model: how to make money? It must cost millions of dollars to maintain a server used by half a billion people.
i believe it is 100% funded by Pavel Durov, the creator of telegram.

These whatsapp have no freakin idea what they are missing out with Telegram. I swear.
Been a telegram user since 2014 and the only disappointing thing my family and friends prefer WhatsApp. I'm a loner who loves techie stuff and I don't see myself stop using.
Come on. Security is just 1% of why it's better than watsup. Watsapp is just a boring messenger, while Telegram is a whole Universe, if you know some basic programming you can do everything with it. I use it as a cloud storage and noting tool
