    Lyrics: Blind and Frozen
    Once I touched your heart
    Held you in closed arms
Built a haven for your love
Until I let you fall apart
    Please forgive me
God I miss you like hell
I was wrong I can tell
For the heart can be blind and frozen
Now I live with the pain
    Every night, every day
As I read those letters you wrote me
How I long for the time
When your lips would kiss mine
And the promise was still unbroken
    I will wait for tomorrow
    That may never come
I will wait in the name of love
    My forlorn heart faintly beats
    Your absence makes me weak
And if nothing brings you back
Surely I'll roam through life in black
    Like a shadow
God I miss you like hell
I was wrong I can tell
For the heart can be blind and frozen
Now I live with the pain
    Every night, every day
As I read those letters you wrote me
How I long for the time
When your lips would kiss mine
And the promise was still unbroken
    I will wait for tomorrow
    That may never come
I will wait in the name of love
I would die for the love of mercy
Destiny, is this how it should be? No no no!
God I miss you like hell
I was wrong I can tell
For the heart can be blind and frozen
Now I live with the pain
    Every night, every day
As I read those letters you wrote me
God I miss you like hell
I was wrong I can tell
For the heart can be blind and frozen
Now I live with the pain
    Every night, every day
As I read those letters you wrote me
How I long for the time
When your lips would kiss mine
And the promise was still unbroken
    I will wait for tomorrow
    That may never come
I will wait in the name of love

The band's name is inspired by the main character of the manga/anime series Berserk (which inspired the Dark Souls video games and Bloodborne). You should react to their song that is the same title as the band. The song tells the story of the main character, Guts, who is also referred to as The Black Swordsman.

Anton formed this band after he parted ways with Battle Beast. I cannot recommend Battle Beast enough, seriously, they are one of my favorite bands and I hope you can fit them into your schedule. They have also toured with Sabaton a few times, In fact, I saw them live for the first time last May with Sabaton and Leaves' Eyes. They are coming back in this upcoming May with Kamelot and Delain. Think like Beast In Black, except with a female vocalist.
Song suggestions for first impressions: "Far Far Away (Unofficial)", "Straight To The Heart", "King For A Day {Official)", "Out Of Control", "Let It Roar" (as Juha-Pekka suggested below), or maybe "Bringer Of Pain (Official)".
I would avoid songs like "Black Ninja" or "Touch In The Night" for first impressions.

Kamelot is also very much worth o checking out. Their song Liar Liar (ft. Alissa White-Gluz) you should check out. Actually they are the only American band I love. Delain is Dutch melodic/symphonic band and also amazing live band. Battle Beast is once again solid live band and very much like Beast in Black also with their own production after Anton departed with them. Bastard Sons of Odin and Beyond the Burning Skies are really good new songs and older with Anton: Out of Control and Kingdom. I really recommend!

Beast in black have 1 album out and 3 music videos, the rest of the songs aren't uploaded (I can upload for you, I'd really love to see a reaction to "Ghost in the Rain"), but originally, as others have stated, this sort of songs were a staple in Battle Beast, which is basically this band with insane female vocals. Recommended: "Straight to the Heart", "Let it Roar", "Speed and Danger", "Unholy Saviour"
If you're a fan of these vocals, aside from lost horizon i keep bringing up, check out the band "Twilight force", specifically the song "twilight horizon" or "fall of the eternal winter". Your mind will be B L O W N. Joakim Broden of sabaton even sang for them on 2 songs

I’m surprised to see that in the comments this isn’t brought up yet, but Beast and Black is also very similar to older Nightwish. This song as far as music goes reminds me of Have An Angel and Romanticide by Nightwish. You should definitely check those songs out, and Nightwish in general.

    • @Eluarelon
      @Eluarelon Před 6 lety

Might be because Beast in Black doesn't hold a candle to anything Nightwish ever did. They have much more in common with 80's synthie hard rock (remember Europe or Treat? Things like that). Nightwish have been much heavier from the very start, and on their first three albums, there's maybe one single song comparable to this kind of music. But, come on, compare that to Romanticide? That song's first riff is heavier than everything you'll find on Berserker. And apart from that: "Once" is NOT older Nightwish.
Not saying that I don't like it, though. I enjoy it for what it is, It's a bit cheesy, but well performed and singer Yannis Papadopoulos has an awesome range. But as far as composition goes, Anton Kabanen will never be in the same league with Tuomas Holopainen.

Such a great album, also nice to see Yannis getting this great vocalist opportunity. He already did great with Wardrum, though that band sadly didn't the exposure it deserved.
If power metal is the thing then Twilight Force is another band well checking out. Very much in the old Rhapsody of Fire vain and with some amazing production values on especially the last album.

    I was thinking about suggesting this song too! So awesome. But I figured I'd wait until you had done these I guess, hah;
3 norwegian prog metal bands for ya: Pagan's Mind, Circus Maximus and Leprous.
Pagan's Mind: I guess progressive power metal is a more correct term. Pretty spacey, very melodic and really talented guys. Check out Intermission (with my favourite solo ever), Resurrection (Back in Time), Osiris' Triumphant Return, New World Order, Eyes on Fire or God's Equation.
Circus Maximus: Also somewhat power metal influenced, but they're more progressive/aor. Also insanely talented naturally. Even more melodic than Pagan's Mind tbh. Check out Architect of Fortune, Last Goodbye, Loved Ones, After the Fire, Burn After Reading, Chivalry, The Weight or Remember.
Leprous: Pretty damn unique. I've heard them described as a modern prog metal band, and I guess that's pretty accurate. You can't really compare them to the two bands above at all. Check out Slave (Live at Rockefeller Music Hall), Rewind, Red, The Valley, Third Law, Acquired Taste, The Cloak, Painful Detour, Illuminate, From the Flame, The Weight of Disaster, The Price or Coma.
The guitarists in both Pagan's Mind (Jørn Viggo Lofstad) and Circus Maximus (Mats Haugen) has become two of my favourites. The same goes for vocalist in Leprous, Einar Solberg. He's friggin' amazing and you're in for a treat!

It's not gonna be massively requested I guess but I think you should try Hunter - Kiedy Umieram. Unfortunately the video with quite good English lyrics is nowhere to be found nowadays so I'll just post quick translation for your insight ; ) This will probably show you some different approach towards metal.
    As you are born
even the mountains sink in blood
    Being the child of desires,
    Hope dyes your dreams.
    Bubbling a bunch of nonsense,
You’ve said that you’re the Ruler of the Dreams
    - they believed you wordlessly
And step by step you’ve possessed them.
The headsman went mad treading in blood
As your people mindlessly harbingered their fall.
Worshiping you blindly they pushed onward
    Search for their paradise.
    Bubbling a bunch of nonsense
    You’ve reminded them that
You’re the ruler of the dreams
    They believed you wordlessly
    Followed you into the flames
    - perished before your eyes
    Augmenting the army of shadows
I’m dying - as I see us lost in the mist
I’m dying - as I feel us stuck in the dream
I’m dying - cause I know you fail to understand that I…
    I’m dying - as I see you…
You wanted to share your God with the others, against their will
They’ve lived in peace and tranquility
    - worshiping their own deity
    Bubbling a bunch of nonsense
You’ve claimed you’ll give them ruler of the dreams
They failed to conceive your words
    - So millions have perished
    Yet their words sounded strange
The same God bared a different name!
I’m dying - as I see us lost in the mist
I’m dying - as I feel us stuck in the dream
I’m dying - cause I know you fail to understand that I…
I’m dying - as I see you still trying …
Fanaticism is the curse of the nations
Cult of unit, religion, politics, nationalism
    They’ll remain all the same
    - the black page of humanity
    Nothing explains the murder!
I’m dying - as I see us lost in the mist
I’m dying - as I feel us stuck in the dream
I’m dying - cause I know you fail to understand that I…
I’m dying - as I see you still trying …
As you are dying - peace wipes off their tears
Yet with your departure bad dreams are soon to return
The end is almost always the beginning
Bubbling a bunch of nonsense you appear
You’re the ruler of the dreams
    - they always follow you wordlessly
    And millions will die again
as you together with your children
Turn another country into the land of shadows!
I’m dying - as I see us lost in the mist
I’m dying - as I feel us stuck in the dream
I’m dying - cause I know you fail to understand that I…
    I’m dying - still seeing this …

I think this summer we will be going to Portugal in August to visit my family and attend a Festival there. This will be his first ever festival so it is a good way for him to get his feet wet before we decide to make a more expensive trip to Tuska or Wacken.
