The Dutch have given America a part of Thanksgiving tradition I remember as a child... most who were kids in 50's and 60's sang a song in school around Thanksgiving that originally was from the Netherlands! It's known as The Thanksgiving Prayer . We Gather Together is a Christian hymn from the Netherlands believed to have been written by Adrianus Valerius in 1597. It first appeared in a Dutch hymnal in 1626. The hymn was written to celebrate the Dutch victory over Spanish military forces in the Battle of Turnhout. In the United States this traditional hymn is associated with Thanksgiving Day.
Absolutely Gorgeous!!!! I am an Interior Designer from the US. Great use of color, which made the room come to life. Loved the pumpkins, the tips and The Squirrels!!!! BRAVO, PHILIP! I can't wait to see more videoes!!!!
What a wonderful surprise!!! The only tip I can offer you is to make videos to suit yourself. Everyone will throw so many ideas at you, each contradicting the other! For example, I will get my fangs into the background music. I never like it and prefer videos without. Other will dramatically complain if there is no music in the video. You cannot please eveyone so you should please yourself! Welcome to CZcams Philip!
Thanks for using my placecards!! I got so excited in seeing them used, I neglected to tell you how beautiful your table is. Congratulations on your new vlog !Heidi
There is nothing more I love than setting the table! For me it represents laying the way for gathering. It’s a form of anticipation. Hope! Wonder! It’s my way of welcoming others into what I expect to be a wonderful time. 🥂 It’s lovely to see a kindred spirit in the art of table-scaping. I encourage you, Philip, to keeping blessing others in the craft of building beautiful get-togethers! 🦔🦔🦔
You are natural vlogger/presenter Philip. Just keep being you and remember to always enjoy your work. You have a lot of talent to share with others so this is a wonderful avenue for you. Happy Thanksgiving!
Philip! Welcome and I’m so happy you opened up your channel with a Thanksgiving tribute. I am at 17 wife mother grandmother and great grandmother. Yes like many people I discovered Stephanie over Lock down. My family is the muse because I referred to step in as my friend, but that’s how she makes me feel and she has addressed her CZcams audience as so . I am so glad Stephanie and you how do you build your relationship no surprise. I hope people respect your privacy. So looking forward and good luck with your channel😉👍🏻
Sharing your tableware & silver that is special to you to make beautiful table settings is a lovely way to express your creativity Phillip. Adding beloved woodland creatures here and there on the table or in one of the rooms is the cherry on top. I’m sorry I am late congratulating you on your own video debut. We have a new grandson and this lucky grandma has been taking advantage of giving my daughter a break to take a much needed nap or do things on her To Do list. He is 6 weeks old today! My Family’s Century farm has 200 acres of woods with a lot of red, gray and a few black squirrels running around, chittering, but no 🦔 hedgehogs in the wild here in Missouri USA. Small black bears have made their way back in the area and fortunately I have not ran into one yet. The joke is you don’t have to out run a bear, just run faster than your walking partner! Well, I am the SLOW ONE in every scenario so 🤞🤞any wild creature with teeth and a grumpy attitude will be as afraid as me and we will go in opposite directions . A very enjoyable first of many Phillip, congratulations.
A great alternative to the aluminum or wax to stabilize candles is MOSS! it looks great to have the green moss at the base of each candle!… especially for those SUMMER GARDEN PARTIES!
Hi what an absolutely delightful idea! Moss! I love it, thanks for that idea! I have used very skinny weather stripping as well. Found some at charity shop that has lasted for about 15 years. It works to stabilize the candle with the added benefit of being sticky so it stays put on the candle. I Congratulations Philip on your CZcams endeavor! This is going to be SO MUCH fun & will hopefully be a treasure trove of ideas from YOU as well as your adoring fans. We all love you Philip, thank you for loving our Stephanie & being her Prince. You are the perfect addition to an already magical Fairy Tale! With love & gratitude from the Northern California Coast xo April 🍁🍃🌻
I never comment on videos and only came over because of the Chateau Diaries but I will stay because you did really, really well. You presented clearly, you were entertaining and genuine. You seem like such a lovely young man. Congratulations. You did a great job!
Phillip you are so blessed with a beautiful talent! All of you, your speech and mannerisms, clothes and ideas speak of such elegance and inner peace. You are truly a gentleman in every way. I am happy to know you. God bless you and keep you.
As an American, I have no problem with other countries and cultures enjoying Thanksgiving. Being grateful for the blessings in our lives should be universal anyway! Happy Thanksgiving!
This is gorgeous. I would like to have seen a buffet table with a cornucopia spilling out with your fall harvest veggies instead of the table. This would free up the table for a low long floral arrangement with natural elements gathered from outside like bittersweet and ivy and cushions.
Congratulations! Elegant and warm table setting. I love to see you visiting the brocantes and then showing what you’ve done with your finds, great eye. You are a classy gentleman, always be yourself.
Philip. I have watched the Chateau Diaries from the beginning. I think you are great, talented, kind and thoughtful. I absolutely love you and Steph together and the table is stunning! I get very inspired with ideas from the chateau. Xx
Philip. I always enjoy seeing you on the vlogs. If I may offer one suggestion. Please slow down. As a storyteller, I have learned each piece of the story is an integral part of the whole. Showing us the squirrel place card holders is just as important as folding the napkins or choosing the flatware. Don't hurry the process. I for one am quite happy to spend more time with you. God bless and Happy Thanksgiving.
Absolutely loved it! Would have even loved more closeups of all the little friends you tucked amid the gourds and the table setting. The whole video is gorgeous and a real pleasure to watch. Thank you, Phillip!
Hi Philip, Great tips on napkins and candles I didn’t know that.❤️😁 I love to shop and find nice items too.Congratulations on your 1st video have a Happy Thanksgiving.I’m looking forward for more awesome videos from you.😁❤️🐿🦔
That was lovely! I can imagine lots of DIY/crafty ideas for Christmas - advent calendars, crackers, Christmas table, ways to wrap gifts... The list is endless! Can't wait to see more of your videos x
My favourite colours and time of year too. I've been following you at the Chateau since the beginning but for those who are new it's natural to want to know more about the presenter. You are Dutch but people might be asking, 'how come he speaks such wonderful English?' So why not do a video giving people a little more insight into your background and of that wonderful relationship with your grandparents who clearly were a fundamental part of your growing up and are part of the reason you are where you are now. Good luck Phillip
Hi Philip, great first video. I love to see a dinner table beautifully set, I also agree you don't have to spend a fortune to get the look. Most surprising for me, I really love the amber glasses as they not my usual style...the one thing I gave up long ago is the table cloth, I have beautiful large place mats... better than having a white cloth trashed 10 minutes into dinner! Like you, I have many fabulous eBay and etsy finds... Looking forward to more videos! 🦘
Wow Philip, this video is so good and very well made. Can't wait to see more! It is very organic and feels like you have done hundreds of video already! I would love to see your hedgehogs collection, all your favorite porcelain and cutlery and why they are your favorites, how to shop for vintage pieces: what to look for, different brands, ect, you know so many things about design throughout the centuries I would love to learn more. Oh and bring back Woodland Watch please haha :) Can't wait to see your channel flourish!
Nicely done! Loved it. I can hardly wait for future uploads. The helpful hints and techniques were a lovely addition, ie. remedy for candle stick not fitting, pumpkin candle holders
Philip your table is exquisite. I’m so honored that many other countries love doing the Thanksgiving with their loved ones. Is as it should be. Having dinner with our loved ones and being thankful for are blessings. Philip I’m so excited to see more of your vlogs, you are so talented and have a good eye for color. Your English is fantastic 🍁🦃 Happy Thanksgiving
Philip I love the table scape it is perfect, you have exquisite taste. Glad to see you have a channel now. Looking forward to more of your videos..🐿🐿🎃🎃🍽🍽
@@moegirl76 the first one in this case its probably a simple white table cloth because the fancy one was clearly not big enough plus it has open embroidery and then you better lay another table cloth under the fancy one. We always lay a thick flanel on the table to protect the table against spills and then the real table cloth.
So pleased you've started your own channel Philip. Would love a close up of the place setting for a minute or so when it's completed with cutlery /glassware /china that you decided upon. You're so good at the details we want to see ❤🥰
@@nicolethijs5428 My parents have the same type of table and they put a thick 'fleece' (molleton?) under the tablecloth, not only it protects the table from stains and heat, but also it protects guests from the rough angles of the wood extensions (I'm sorry I don't know all the words in English :D)
Really really loved this. My motto is “why use 6 pots when 20 will do”! I have as much fun setting the table as eating the meal …. & I use foil in the candles like you …there’s hope for me yet! Xx
I am a naturalized American and my family have spent decades working out the purpose/meaning of the Thanksgiving celebration, finally settling on the idea of just being grateful for kind people in our world. We all take turns at our table giving a thanks and cheers to whomever deserves the shout out. Every Tday I make a special effort to acknowledge the Native Americans who basically sacrificed themselves in saving the entirely unprepared Pilgrims that arrived on their shores. BTW, I love how you decorated your Tday table with gourds that you later turned into soup. One tip I may share is I line my hollowed out little gourds with aluminium foil before I place a candle tea light in so they glow. Also, if they are edible, the foil protects them from the melting wax.
Love the candle tin foil tip its a perfect solution and I have candelabras just like that I will be using so thank you. Would love to see you cover a chair and how you measure and cut the fabric etc congrats on the new channel am looking forward to seeing what you do with it
Great job on your video Phillip. Good presentation, excellent camera work, and easy to hear you. You are very natural on camera. Loved the table decorations too!
I’d love to see all you table arrangements. Also I love your singing, would love the occasional performance. Any video you make will be fun. Can’t wait
Please show us close ups of all the cutlery at LeLande, I would like to see all the variety of sets that you have, one video on each. Also would like to see just videos of the various patterns of dishes and what you would put together for a place setting. Ideas for tablescapes
Philip you are an asset to the chateau! The table settings are very lovely and the natural ornamentals make it all come together so nicely. I am sure all had a good time at the table. The ambiance from the candles just top it off perfectly. Nice sharing your ideas with all the viewers. Kind regards E
Philip-BRAVO! Excellent effort, you are so creative and very natural in front of the camera. I’m certain laying this lovely table led to a beautiful evening 🦃🍁!
Literally because of you and Stephanie I have been scouring the local antique stores, charity shops etc to find items for our dining room and house. Oddly, in Kentucky.. we don't get "formal" for anything really, except horse racing, which is weird since we have giant dining rooms that typically get used once or twice a year. This Thanksgiving will be the first in our 25+ years of actually breaking out the China, the goblets and decorating! Thank you for inspiring me to bring a little Fabulousness to our everyday life!
Me too✅ I think that’s been so amazing to learn from Stephanie & Phillip! I do use our China on holidays, but many times, just foam divided section plates. 😜
Just my Mom and me for the holiday today but I still foraged outside to make a centerpiece (no mean feat in November in Maine) and used my great grandmother's china. The La Lande effect!
@@elisabeth6108 it was just me, my husband and my mother-in-law. It seemed odd in the dining room that in past years was overflowing, but we were grateful for good food and loving family to share it with.
Aw Philip, what a treat! So beautifully produced; the light, the narration, the setting itself, all very professionally done and utterly engaging. Thank you, congratulations and I look forward to many more👏
Love to watch you do something you soo love doing! Beautiful. You can also use aluminum bonbon cups from your local candy reseller or order them online. If you need to double them up, they fit together and leave a nice finished edge. You can also put a dab of museum putty in the candle holder to keep the candle upright. Also purchased online. Blessing for the coming holidays to you, the other Lelanders both on site and scattered to the winds. We love you all.
Such a lovely video!! I'm so happy you've started your own channel. I would love to see you do a Christmas table too, or maybe a challenge video where you go to emmaous and have a set budget to do a table for :)
@@sidselboyepetersen6541 Yes good idea! Also a video on preparing crockery, cutlery and glassware for the table. For example how to polish everything. Also the table layout for crockery, cutlery and glassware, napkin folding and flower centrepiece arranging and music selection. Also a video on wine selection and cocktail preparation. Also how to add visual interest to a table and room surrounds. And finally how to set tables for different services - French, English, Russian and American service. Also setups for buffet service, a la carte and table d’hôte.( ex hospitality lecturer😉)
Congratulations darling Philip. Your table is stunning. This grandmother learned quite a few lovely tips. You are in your element here & I look forward to seeing many more creative videos. Keep up the good work. Hugs & kisses from Georgia.
The fool in the candlestick holder is brilliant! I’ve broken two antique glass candlestick holders trying to get the wax out. Even in clear glass, I think that the foil would look attractive. ♥️
Philip…great tip about the foil for candelabra! The table looked beautiful, can’t wait for your next. For so long we have watched you create stunning tables for so many events at Lalande and would have loved more detail or close-ups…👏👏👏👏👏

Your table is gorgeous! I like you have started a channel Phillip as I admire you on Stephanie’s vlog. Enjoy celebrating my holiday of the American Thanksgiving. Something all Americans agree on and celebrate…good considering the times.
Love the table you set up for Thanksgiving and also I love how you embrace our traditions, thank you. I do enjoy watching your videos and Stephanie's, I look forward to them and I watch the older videos a lot. I've gotten a lot of ideas from watching, makes me want to be there with you all
Congratulations on your first video, loved it! I'm always looking out for new decorating ideas - only wished I had the fabulous second-hand shops in Hobart, Australia as you do in France - they are next level! Nonetheless, my favourite thing to look at when I go 'op-shopping' as we say, are the nick nacky homewares - beautiful bowls, cutlery, candle holders, glassware etc.
Congratulations on the new channel! I enjoyed that you used many thrifted objects plus added your own personal style. It makes it so much more attainable for people who normally would feel daunted about setting a large, beautiful table on an important day. I and many others can feel encouraged to replicate something similar to the tables you all set a Lalande, and on any budget. I also really enjoy any table setting videos that are produced here because it reminds me of my Nana, who tried to teach me how to set a lovely table when I was a kid, and always had the most beautiful antiques and objects in her home. How-to videos and videos containing a mix of styles, occasions, and themes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Absolutely loved this video! Love the set up when you come forward to the camera from working to show us details & tips too. Wonderful. Such a beautiful table setting too! 👌🏼🙌🏼✨🍂🐿
I've been waiting for a channel from you! Your style and overall aesthetic sensibility is exquisite, this first post with the table, on a budget, at Lalande, is beautiful, inspiring, love the humor, and the care put into it transmitted across to San Francisco. Congrats!!! It would be wonderful to see more décor, fashion, antiquing, all your likes! Cheers to many more to come! 🍽🥂
Yeah!! Philip has his own channel. I can not wait to see all you do. You are a talented and artistic man. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. I love watching decorating videos. And with Christmas coming soon I think you will have plenty to film. I love the idea of many Christmas trees with different themes. Good luck and God bless you my dear.
You are such a pleasure to watch on all the videos. I would like to suggest you begin a whole series on table scapping and settings. Nothing ridiculous like that HGTV series, just classic and elegant and traditional settings expressing all that is European. You are a natural on camera and very enjoyable to watch interacting with all the LeLanders. Best of health and happiness to you and Stephanie.

Great tip about the tinfoil around the bottom of the candles. have been burning the bottom of my candles to fit them in my candle holder and it has created an absolute mess! I will definitely be using this tip. This is such a cozy and delightful video! Perhaps some videos of you singing would be great!!!

Me too✅
I think that’s been so amazing to learn from Stephanie & Phillip!
I do use our China on holidays, but many times, just foam divided section plates. 😜
That made me really happy
Just my Mom and me for the holiday today but I still foraged outside to make a centerpiece (no mean feat in November in Maine) and used my great grandmother's china. The La Lande effect!
@@elisabeth6108 it was just me, my husband and my mother-in-law. It seemed odd in the dining room that in past years was overflowing, but we were grateful for good food and loving family to share it with.
So great!
Wonderful table!
Excellent video Phillip. Just keep being you and we will enjoy it all. I enjoy anything that gives us more views in to life at LaLande.
Well done Philip! Love when people up cycle! Here is to making our foot print smaller. Happy Thanks Giving Heather Canada
Aw Philip, what a treat! So beautifully produced; the light, the narration, the setting itself, all very professionally done and utterly engaging. Thank you, congratulations and I look forward to many more👏
your table looks lovely philip and thanks for the tip of the foil on the candles
I was smiling all the way through that Philip. You are a total joy and such a natural. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful!!! More of anything!!! Lol!!
Loved this. Keep them coming, Philip!
Beautiful table and practical tips! Well done Phillip! Just subbed and noticed you have quite the following already. Congratulations.
Phillip you are so talented! I really admire your affinity towards the wildlife!
Such a lovely video!! I'm so happy you've started your own channel. I would love to see you do a Christmas table too, or maybe a challenge video where you go to emmaous and have a set budget to do a table for :)
And also how you repair porcelain and other practical tips ☀️🎉Congrats with your new channel!
Ooh cool!! Excellent video, thank you so much . Lots of love and best wishes coming to you and Stephanie! Happy Thanksgiving 🥰🥰🥰
You are such a charming addition to the chateau! Enjoyed your first vlog and looking forward to more.Thank you
Great job, Philip. Nicely done. It also helps to be in a beautiful setting with that stunning wallpaper. Looking forward to the next video!
Congratulations darling Philip. Your table is stunning. This grandmother learned quite a few lovely tips. You are in your element here & I look forward to seeing many more creative videos. Keep up the good work. Hugs & kisses from Georgia.
Love it, Phillip. Some great ideas for the Christmas table decoration too. Thanks and welcome 🤗
Congratulations on your very first video. Absolutely thrilled we will be seeing more of you. This has made my day.
Love this!!! Philip you’re a natural, it feels like you’re with us in person! Bless you thank you for your video :) excited for more!!
🙌🙌🙌Bravo! 🙌🙌🙌
Everything was “tres perfection”
I subscribed , but of course!
So very happy with where life has taken you with our darling Stephanie! You make a beautiful and exciting couple! No, I did not see it coming! Fooled me!💗
Lots to be great grateful for!
Can’t wait to see the coming vlogs!
Will share!💋💋
Your table is gorgeous! I like you have started a channel Phillip as I admire you on Stephanie’s vlog. Enjoy celebrating my holiday of the American Thanksgiving. Something all Americans agree on and celebrate…good considering the times.
Fabulous Phillip! Loved this! You’re very creative and engaging. Looking forward to more 😊x
Thank you!
Beautiful!❤️
Ideas for next videos: a blue and white table decor would be nice, maybe something with Wedgwood, too 🥰
Beautifully done, Philip! Practical, economical, and gorgeous! Happy Thanksgiving!
Loved it Philip, happy thanksgiving. Love to see how you would dress a bedroom for guests coming. Ie bedding, cushions, towels, toiletries etc
Congrats!!! This is awesome!!!
Fabulous! I love your creativity and eye for design. I like how you blend traditional styles with contemporary, to create a perfect setting. Really excited about your You Tube channel. Good luck!
I’m so glad you’ve started your own channel! This was lovely and very helpful just in time for the holidays.
You're a natural. Thanks for this Phillip. Always a joy to see what's going on at LaLande! Looking forward to watching your channel.
I’m so pleased you are going to share all your design ideas with us, you are so talented , this was such a fun video, can’t wait to see more
Awwwww loved it! You’re a natural in front of the camera. ☺️ Create the content you love and you get the love right back! I felt the love through this video. x
Welcome! So happy you made your own channel! Great tip about the tinfoil around the bottom of the candles. have been burning the bottom of my candles to fit them in my candle holder and it has created an absolute mess! I will definitely be using this tip. This is such a cozy and delightful video! Perhaps some videos of you singing would be great!!!
Congratulations on your first video Philip! You have inspired me to create a table of my own one day! I love the glasses and the color was superb! Looking forward to more!
