No I think he was basically calling his white partner out in a joking manner. Like your to white to hear this so I’ll use terms your comfortable with. That’s what his smile implied imo.
The dynamics between these two is perfect. Great film.
I'm noticing these deleted scenes made Alonzo a lot more likeable. Like him and Jake actually had real bonding moments. I guess that's why they deleted them but something like this could work great for a TV show with more time between characters to mature.

...my favorite movie without a doubt. It's deeper than just about the memorable lines and script. The acting was "real" and the characters were developed. You felt like you knew them a quarter of the way through the film. No one wanted t believe Denzel was really a dirty cop. "King Kong ain't gotshit on me?" When the Hispanic guy asked Ethan Hawk's character, "Have you ever had your shit pushed in?" that was an uncomfortable moment. Who knew what was coming? The movie was about making decision

This scene makes better sense of Alonzo's statement later on that Hoyt had been smoking PCP and getting high all day.
So many deleted scenes from what I have seen was just as good but should've been added to the movie to really give two characters depth to this story. Still remains a classic regardless.
They should have kept this in the movie!

Just to think Denzel had to play this type of role just to get an Oscar. Smdh. Well acted and convincing. This type of movie reminds us of the crooked cops that are out there. Alonzo started out as a good, idealistic young cop I'm sure but the system will always corrupt you. Turnt out so to speak. You open your eyes to a lot of shit and that's real. It happens to the best of us.

D.J. Roxwell There's another deleted scene where Alonzo tells a story about when he was a rookie. It had to do with a guy abusing a dog to get it to hate black people. I think the idea that Alonzo also had whatever goodness in him beaten out of him.

Denzel as Alonzo was near flawless in the theatrical version though and this cut scene doesn't take away from the performance.

Should of kept the scene since the real character denzel based Alonzo was an Afro Puerto Rician named Rafel Perez. Perez spoke spanish, so it makes sense that the film portayal also speaks spanish.
