Just got back into the hobby after getting a new house (with a donor basement) last year and first Christmas in the house featuring The 1225 around the tree. Now find myself.binge watching all the back shows on my large screen. Had to jump on the smart phone e to dig this episode up and give it a thumbs up. Don't let the wind out of you sails, doing great things here!

Ken, I have to say that everyone of your videos leaves me wanting more. Many of the things you do on your layout and diorama's look so real, but are so simple the create. In today's world there are so many products you can use when building your railroad that people sometimes forget, or do not know about, the older methods that you have shown to be viable and less expensive to use. I love the fact that you share these techniques with the community. With the schedule you must keep I am surprised, and pleased that you are able to make the your videos as long and detailed as they are. Yes, I wish they were longer but I know you have a job, family, and do not have the time to do it all. I have to say as I am sure others have said before me, another excellent video!

Just out of curiosity, I have noticed that you do a fair amount of snow scenes. Have you ever done a permanent snow scene? I would like to know your thought about what product(s) would hold up the best for a permanent snow scene with the least amount of discoloration to the snow?

Thank you Ken Paterson. I think you must to have read my mine or maybe I read yours. Last night I decided to look into upgrading my Digitrax system and today I open your video and there you are answering all my questions. i have been following your videos because they have always been inspirational with out of the box ideas and high quality modeling that I try to emulate.

I was an avid reader of the Model Railroader of the 1960's. It is nice to see what has become of the hobby. Granted I went from 0-27 as a kid to G scale as an adult. I am still fascinated by all the eye trickery that can be done.

As someone who lives in England I am really jealous of the space you guys in America have to build layouts, most of us are lucky to have a layout 12ft long! I also get a lot of ideas from you guys, DCC is still in it's infancy over here, so seeing what it can actually do is great, keep up the good work Ken.

Ken , great video!! I too am also looking at buying a Digitrax DCS-240. For my new layout, from using an old vertical stereo cabinet with the smoked glass door, it will house all the electronics, Boosters, power supply ( I too have the PS2012) and the PM42s. The banana plugs for the PS2012 is also a great idea!! Whats Neat always has something new to try or buy. LOL
Many thanks for all your time and projects and tips.
BTW, are you thinking of mass producing your cleaner tools?

Wow, I am so impressed with your skills relative to creation, tooling, artistic, realistic application and ability to share, teach the processes. As I build my first permanent HO layout (300Sq ft.) your layout and program are a valuable guide and thought provoking use of my time. As a retired Manufacturing Engineer, plus contractor and woodworker I have designed a good base for my layout and your program is helping me optimize without cluttering the limited space I have. Anyway, thank you. You're a great teacher.

This would be one of the best information channels that I have been watching thanks to ken Patterson and everyone on what's neat. There is just on thing, has the 3D printing gotten any better or does the finished product still leave it looking like it has white snow on it. Thanks Joe from Australia

Ken, Thank you, sir, as I believe it may've been you who responded to me... I thought it was always the first of the month & have anxiously awaited your posting each time. Thank you! I've been a model railroader since 1952 or '53 when my dad brought my brother and me a pair of dummy HO F3's (?) risking life and limb traveling through a hurricane to get to his little family in Raleigh, NC. He was a college professor of political science who worked as a gandy-dancer on the Pennsy AND the B&O... to make ends meet when quite young. And as one of your correspondents affirms, "your videos leave me wanting more." Well, amen!

You make that digitrax set up look like it's a 1..2..3 easy but to me I was like lost trying to understand it. But hope to learn as time gets closer to build our layout, but either way love watching your What's Neat.

I just can not wrap my head around DCC. It seems like fun, but it also seems like it could be a pain. And that American was Beautiful. There's a Walthers Russian Iron the I would love to have, but it's HO and I model in N.

My father has always had a 4'x 8' HO layout and now I would like to work along side of him and build a totally new layout in their new home. He has always used DC but we would like to change over to a DCC system with a option to use his old DC engines. Is there a system out there thAt can do both? If so what would you recommend? It's not going to be a super large layout but it will be 100% from the ground up. Please help.
