  • The life of LLB (Hons) student Haya Suleman took an interesting turn when she received scholarship to study a five-month semester at a university in Turkey, but the circumstances became grave when someone leaked a private video of her made at a party on the internet. To keep the video away from the eyes of the members of her traditional family and to avoid any complications, she had to contact an officer of the Cyber Crime Cell who could have had her video removed. But soon she was unsettled by the fact that this faceless officer already knew so much about her.
    Will Haya be able to get that video removed from the internet? Will she be able to go to Turkey? And more importantly, will she finally be able to meet "him", him who she has never met before but has been searching for for many years?
    From the streets of Istanbul to the Bosporus sea, from the caves of Cappadocia to the torture cells in Indian jails, Jannat Kay Pattay (English: Leaves of Heaven) is like a roller coaster ride in which most of your guesses will be proved wrong and this mysterious story will keep its secrets safe till the last sentence. Because keeping secrets is an art and not everyone knows it! [Goodreads]

    I was reading a novel for first time because Someone suggested me to read it. I can not express how I felt while reading it. It created a sensation of love, truth, and integrity of Islam and Qur'an. I just extremely love with it, it's idea and content was awesome 👍

    I recently heard this novel n I can easily say it has left a lasting impression on my life..the quranic verses made me stop n contemplate on my life personally & I again started wearing hijab..the conference on hijab maybe tht was a turning point for me too..Nimra made me fall in love with the characters, made me smile with them n cry too..the entire chapter where jihan crosses the border, it literally made me cry n I kept it away for a few hours but then I kept thinking about it all day & felt this couldn't b the end this shouldn't be the end..I convinced myself jihaan can not go away with so much left unsaid between the two..they deserved a long life of bliss together after all the torment & wallahi I was so happy at the last chapter when he plays with khadija while mentioning about his next endeavour; their next endeavor together..💖💖 Loved it to the core..👏🏻👏🏻

      Start off with popular fiction (Umera Ahmed, Nimra Ahmed, Farhat Istiaq, Hashim Nadeem, etc.). Once you built a reading habit and understand how to process a story then move towards classics (Bano Qudsia, Mumtaz Mufti, Qurat ul Haider, Manto, Ashfaq Ahmed, Ghulam Abbas, etc.).
      Just go slow and give yourself some time sync in. Any other questions, let me know..

If you want to read the story of blood relationships and the heart, go for Namal first. @@ReviewswithUsman Mumtaz Mufti is a figure of similar prominence to Shahab sir so no reservations there. Just out of curiosity, how many pages do read in a single day? And how many hours are allotted to your reading in that day? And an overdone question but what are some writer/s which pop into your head when you hear the attributes of "Plays with language, Searing Satirist, Dark humour/Humour, Reflection-ist of Society" Your english is very good as well and you mentioned that you were a student of Politics/International Relations so do you have any Non Fiction you would believe to be necessary for a curious human in this day and age to be more aware. Or history or general non fiction especially for Pakistanis.

    • @ReviewswithUsman
      @ReviewswithUsman  Před 4 lety +2

      As for reading, it really depends on my work schedule, so it varies a lot. Generally speaking I could get 1-2 hours a day on average to do some readings. Most of my time got spent on writing a good review, making video, editing, etc. to the point where I at least satisfied myself. Plus I let my inner self dictate me, so there are times when I don't read anything for weeks or even months...
      For your second question, I'm not into English fiction at all, but I would say there are great biographies, memoirs, historical narrative that we can take advantage of. Being a Pakistani myself, I think we should focus not only on our own history, but Islamic history (Middle Eastern, Sub-continent, etc.) in general. They say if you don't know where you came from, you ain't know where to go... A lot can be said :-)
