I read that Big Fish was supposed to be sung by a top female singer and Zhou Shen was asked to sing the demo. The negotiations with the top singer failed and so they gave Zhou Shen the chance to sing the song although he wasn't famous at this time. Zhou Shen was ridiculed for his "girly" voice and look in school and this song helped him during his process of being accepted by the public. Big Fish has won eight awards and became Zhou Shen's signature song.
There are several versions of this song on YT. You should definitely also check out his live performance at the Singer competition 2020 and his duet with Guo Qin.

Big Fish is a beautiful song for sure. When it comes to emotional perfomances by Zhou Shen you should watch him singing "Memory ". He sings the first part of the song in English and the second part in Chinese. Although you can already feel his emotions during the first half of the song it gets more emotional when he switches to his native language. He wrote the Chinese lyrics to the song himself.
I love this version of Big Fish. So beautiful and touching with the animation movie clip.

big fish could be considered zhou shen's trademark song, he has sung it countless times and people never get tired of it because each time he adds something new, something different. it's incredible to say, but his live performance (especially the one on singer 2020) is even better than the recorded version!

Oh, I keep hearing this song around, and I never heard any part where there were vocals... I legit thought this was Joe Hisaishi's work, not knowing the language it was in! You'd know him for composing for Studio Ghibli & Hayao Miyazaki, including _Spirited Away._

His live "Big fish" is better. His "Think of me" ,"One earth one spring" and "My heart will go on" are great.
If you like the song.......go watch the movie!!! Seriously one of the best (animated) movies I saw. The movie got to me big time.....I sat completely overwhelmed watching the end credits and then a very important scene comes during them.....so really watch the end credits!!! And then this song comes after it.....as if I wasn't crushed enough!

I've seen and heard a lot as a 52 year old big guy, but it still amazes me people can make things this beautiful....movie and music.
Yeah...almost every lyrics in these Chinese style music are poetry.
Also, I *must* recommend _Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin_ ("The Moon Represents My Heart") by Teresa Teng. It's my favorite love song.
Teng died in 96 due to a severe asthma attack. But she has left a wonderful discography behind to enjoy!
