"Everything stays within the ranks of the haves." - a truly modern American story.

Marvin nailed it at the end.

Smaller schools make the Sweet 16 every single year. They can play with the big boys. Happens literally every single year. 1 game. Anything can happen.

I like that all the smaller conferences can get a shot at the title rather than fill the tournament with all-power 5 schools. I especially like it when those blue-blood teams get upset. I know some variation of what Dan said will happen at some point but I do not think things need to change. Things are great as they are.

Why don't they have the small conference winners have a play in game against the "bubble teams", to see who gets in?... I would love to see that

Greed has become accepted. It’s that simple. Wichita State but not for Kentucky’s/Calipari’s sickening flop fest enabled by the major conference refs would have certainly won that game and likely the National Championship. It could happen. But not in this new world of “brands.” America used to be about the little guy and a fair shake. No longer.

Please keep the NCAA Tournament as it is.

No Dan. The cut line P-5 teams do not compete against great teams every night until January; ducking tough games in the early season is usually one of two primary reasons they are on the cut line. The other reason is regularly getting their asses handed to them once they do get to the conference season.

If the Rutger's and the Clemson's don't make it they can always quit their conference and go to a smaller one where they can make it to the NCAA.

"It could change college athletics, again, forever..." Oh please. Let me translate that for you. College athletics will follow that paradigm until someone sees a way to change it to make even more money...

Was this the same "source" that said San Diego State to the PAC 12 is happening months ago?

97 teams is too much...don't water it down...68 is good enough.

College basketball for me is so much better than college football. There are some football schools who could go undefeated and blow everyone out by 20 and have ZERO shot at a title. In basketball, they at least are given a chance.

Everybody gets a participation trophy!!! YEA!!! Also lets have March Madness BEGIN AND END in March for crying out loud.

When are we going to face up to the fact that the respective missions of today's big-time college athetics and institutions of higher learning are inherently incompatible? They should be separated. They don't belong together. It's big business. Let the NBA and NFL create and pay for their own player development leagues. But the sports commentariat refuses to go there. I wonder why?

Dan’s sources are sooo reliable. These are the same sources who told him the bills and jags were moving to LA and Kevin love was getting traded to the lakers.

Sounds like a terrible idea....once again, all about the money! The fans are enthused about the equity right now and the potential upsets. Shows they don't care about the fans by destroying the fun we all have now. I knew this was too good to be true. I hope it doesn't happen until I'm gone.

Stupid, one sided, factually challenged monologue.
Didn’t even mention Big East which is often one of the top 3 or 4 basketball conferences and better than most “Power” 5 conferences. You going to kick them and their large media markets out too?
If Clemson, Rutgers and Vanderbilt want in, the win more games. They didn’t do that, line has to be drawn somewhere.

Dan’s source? For all we know his so called source is a guy on a stool at the nearest bar. Stop it, Dan is as much a reporter as someone tweeting from his mom’s basement.
