Hamilton is a city in and the county seat of Hamilton County, Texas, United States,[5] located in the state's central region. Its population was 3,095 at the 2010 census.[6]
Those "abandoned" buildings are under construction. We've got three (count em!) buildings on the square that are under renovation or rebuilding, plus a new specialty clinic being built just up the hill. Also I must thank you for being polite and not making the obvious comments about the condition of our city streets. Brushy Bill was a crazy old guy who claimed-and seems to have really believed-that he was Billy the Kid. I'm not buying it, but of course the town is happy to trade on his story. Personally, I feel like Hamilton sits right on the cultural divide between east-and-west Texas. This would have been just about the furthest outpost of settlement before the Civil War, and everything westward past here was developed after. I think the difference in atmosphere can still be felt today.
