"Time" is a song by English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is included as the fourth track on The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and was released as a single in the United States. Bassist Roger Waters wrote the lyrics and the music is credited to all four band members. Keyboardist Richard Wright shares lead vocals (his last until "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell) alongside guitarist David Gilmour.
The lyrics deal with the passage of time - time can slip by, but many people do not realise it until it is too late. Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. He has described this realisation taking place at ages 28 and 29 in various interviews. It is noted for its long introductory passage of clocks chiming and alarms ringing, recorded as a quadrophonic test by Alan Parsons, not specifically for the album.

Gilmour's solo gives me goosebumps every single time!
I frequently find myself crying when I view these reaction videos. That is because I've been listening to this music for 40+ yrs & I can barely believe that these young people have ~never~ heard them or been educated by the insights/feeling they invoke. Thank you for vids like this that spread the love!
Thanks for this. I cried all the way through it - understandable as Pink Floyd was my son's favourite band and he died in an accident a couple of months ago. We took him to see PF in concert last year.
Time always reminds me that he did more in his 19 years than many do in half a lifetime. We played several PF tracks at his funeral. They're painful to listen to now but I'm forcing myself. I also play the piano and over the years have collected lots of PF scores, which I'm slowly making my way through... 🙏

I JUST HAPPENED UPON THIS REACTION VIDEO AND I STARTED WATCHING THESE A COUPLE YEARS BACK AND IT ALWAYS BLOWS ME AWAY WHEN EVERY SINGLE PERSON THAT EVER WAS FINALLY TURNED ON TO THE MUSIC I GREW UP WITH, IM 60 YRS. YOUNG! I SAW THESE GUYS BACK IN 1988 IN WHAT USED TO BE FOXBORO STADIUM IN MASS! I LIVE IN RHODE ISLAND! I'VE SEE ALL THE CLASSIC ROCK BANDS BUT PINK FLOYD WAS WAY AHEAD OF THEIR TIME WHEN I WAS 12 WHEN I FIRST HEARD THEM! The first time I got really high I listened to this album and zoned out !!! I felt like I was in side the music. 1974
If you look at the lyrics of (Time), keeping in mind, (Breathe and On The Run)
The first part is about a younger man, "kicking around", wasting his time, with "time to kill today".
"Then one day you find 10 years have got behind you" - he never started his dreams, his life.
"So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking" - trying to make up for lost time,
but it's a fruitless effort..."the sun is the same in a relative way but your older"
The universe marches on but he's now older, and "one day closer to death".
"Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time, and plans that either come to naught,
or half a page of scribbled lines" - you still have those dreams, those aspirations,
but now life seems to interfere or you just can no longer make the effort,
and instead merely "hanging on in quiet desperation".
"the time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say"
he's now dying and thought he'd leave behind a better legacy than he has,
but instead is leaving behind so many things unaccomplished.
Don’t forget that this is the song following (Breathe and On The Run)
So (Time) seems to be the result of: (Run, rabbit run, Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done, Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one.
For long you live and high you fly, But only if you ride the tide.
And balanced on the biggest wave, You race towards an early grave).

One does not simply listen to Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd is EXPERIENCED! I always tell reactors that they can’t just do one song off an album because the album is always a concept and the purpose of the song may not do it justice because their albums tell a story. Suggestions for reactors. If you’re gonna react to Pink Floyd do the entire album or if you can’t do them all in order back to back so you get the entire experience.

Listen to welcome to the machine by Pink Floyd. Much better song. All rock and roll artists from the 60’s and 70’s were in love with blues, R&B and soul and that’s why rock was so amazing back then.

Although Pink Floyd is my favorite band, I hate every studio album after The Wall, and I hate all the live albums except the 2nd side of Ummagumma. 🤷♂️
