This moment is my absolute favorite. For one reason. It brings an aspect of his mindset that is rarely shown, especially nowadays, upfront.
His main reason for being Batman is not revenge. It's to ensure that no kids experience the same tragedy he did. And this scene shows that in how he interacts with Ace.
Ace has already experienced so much pain and Batman knows this. He also knows that he cannot change that. So he gives her the one thing he knows she has always wanted. A parental figure who genuinely cares for her. The same way his parents cared for him.

Batman Is all about compassion most of his enemies are very angry and broken people, and he wants them to be healed and go forth their past crimes keeping them in check because off shame, and those who are not he will check them (neutralize) to ensure they do the least damage, and will not kill because he knows it just opens a path that is so evil and easy he knows he would be worse than any criminal he has meet and feels that as long as he can look his parents in the eye and ask has he done good he will continue - - - and we has seen the evil batman as he is without mercy , without compassion , without soul and without any hope of redemption, a being who his parents could no longer love

The Omega Beam one makes sense, but not because of Batman, but because of Darkseid. Darkseid always plays with his food, and can control the level of strengh or how fast and deadly his beams are, because he enjoys to see people suffer, and this includes seeing them trying to scape. This is also why he burned Damian instead of killing him when he blocked the beam directed to Batman, because he wanted to torture Bruce for opposing him, giving a painful and slow death.

Anyway, he can probably do that on every version of himself, it would be weird if the supreme godly dictator of Apokolips, a being who basically controls everything and everyone around him, couldn't control the strength of his powers.

My favorite Batman moment by far both in the DCAU and in general is and probably always will be his interaction with Ace. If your version of Batman is incapable of comforting a child who is about to die and knows it, that's not Batman. That's the Punisher wearing a bat costume (or it's a version of Batman from an alternate universe that is intentionally evil). It doesn't matter that Ace is capable of warping the fabric of reality or whatever. She's still just a scared child fully aware of the fact that her inescapable death is imminent, and that's how Batman treats her. Not as a monster or a dangerous being, but as a human being in desperate need of a comforting hand to hold.

After accepting his invitation to be there - Orion, the son of Darkseid - thinks Batman is foolish and says he wouldn't go for anything. Cue Bat-Stare, and Orion immediately crumbles and asks if he should wear a tux.

  • @bethelsheunesumasukume352

In terms of being able to avoid Darkseid's Omega Beam, I'm thinking that Batman was able to do that by waiting for the last possible moment when the beams were close enough, then quickly moving out of the way.

    • @darksider111
      @darksider111 Před 9 měsíci

Its simple; Darksied did not see him as a threat and wanted to play with him, they are an extension of his will, and so if Darksied could have been left unfettered to do as he wished Darksied would have tortured Batman by making them faster and faster until Batman's demise one way or another.
Darksied could put just Enough power in the beam to hurt Batman but not kill and then do it again and again and again, Darksied would give batman hope then snatch it away, Torture and kill people in front of batman and then when he is a shell of a being use him for anything Darksied choose, as Darksied has plans for all beings he sees as useful ,until they are not useful
Darksied is Evil incarnate - - - and Darksied never loses; his victory was stolen, He will plan again and Attack again, and plan and Attack again, and plan and Attack again, and plan and Attack again, and plan and Attack again , Darksied is endless (and very psychotic and delusional and Immortal) Darksied is inevitable

One that I would have added is the opening scene from Fury, when Batman single-handedly takes out Shade, Solomon Grundy, Star Sapphire and Tsukuri without breaking a sweat. The only thing that stops him taking out Aresia was he didn't know who she was and, therefore, didn't know what she was capable of (well, that and the episode would have been over really quickly if he had).

the real reason they send him in to stop Ace isnt because they fear the changes will be permanent, its because they are afraid of the backlash of everyone reverting back at the same time causing a psychic backlash that will level the entire city, killing its inhabitants. kinda like dropping a nuke on it. so they want him to convince her to change it back or use the device to stop her, probably not to kill her immediately, but it probably drains her slowly allowing things to revert in a much slower manner to avoid the snapback.

Batman is such a great character! He bails the entire league out of plenty of tough situations, but due to his lack of raw brute strength, there are plenty of times that the powerhouses like Superman have to save him too. He’s the ultimate team player.

The episode with Ace from Terry from Batman Beyond in Justice League: Unlimited where Amanda Waller tells Terry about that moment is and probably always will be one of if not the most poignant moment for me involving Bats. I tear up every time because of the depth in that scene, and yet it's so very basic compared to the absolute shenanigans going on between the rest of the Royal Flush gang and the league earlier that "day"/"week" in the show. (Can't recall the time passage between the events of the two-parter from JL involving the RF gang vs. the events shown in JL: Unlimited with Terry)

Batman: "Who are you working for?"
Thug *speaking foreign language*: "You can't understand a word I'm saying and I wouldn't tell you anything if you could!"
Batman: *starts speaking same foreign language*: "I can...and you will."
    Thug: 😳💩

His deorbiting the Watchtower in JL and his capturing the Kryptonite Missile in JLU are with out a doubt the "don't F with Batman" scenes. With Supes asks where he is he just calmly says "On the Watchtower, guiding it to target". There's not another member of the League with ones that big. As for the JLU moment, his calling Waller on a line that is supposed to be direct to the President just to say "if anyone dies I'll be coming for you" is just chilling. He's been shown saying "all that matters is the mission" on several occasions in various mediums, but these scenes show just what that means.

On that last episode with Dr. Destiny, another awesome moment he had was when he punched through the windshield of the Batmobile. Sure a trashcan had hit it earlier and damaged it, but this is the Batmobile. A car that can take ballistic fire and still stay in one piece. And he punched through it.

All great moments, though my two favourites are his respect and kindness for Ace and when he sings in order for Circe to release Diana from the spell.
Batman is not a creature of the darkness. He dwells in the darkness in order to bring light to everyone else.
If only the DC movies had any sort of understanding of who Batman really is. All they need do is watch the Batman and the two Justice League animated series'. I would add in the Phantasm and Mr Freeze movies, as well as the one with Superman where Joker and Luthor first team up.
As innocently goofy as it is, the only live action movie to come close to the real Batman is the movie from the Summer of 1966. At least he was a hero. The others have just been angry and forgetful that he is supposed to be the world's greatest detective. His true strength is his intellect.

Recall that Darkseid blasted Bruno Mannheim with his Omega Beams and he didn’t die but was teleported to some abominable labor pit.
