- www.bronkbuilt.com - Let me show you the complete guide on how to build a kicking legs prop for Halloween. Other videos I’ve found only show after the prop is built and walks you through it. My video is going to show you soup to nuts and hopefully be the complete guide on how to build a kicking legs prop for Halloween. This is a prop that is truly fun to build and fun to have in your yard. This is also a great project for using a bunch of scrap wood in your shop. It will teach you a bit about how you can use a rotating motor to make different movements. Just because the motor goes around and around in a circle does not mean your machine needs to move in a circle. This project will show you how to use a windshield wiper to create alternating up and down movement. You can set your scene in your yard as kid friendly as you want or go for full on gross. Most you see the classic scene of the kicking legs Halloween prop coming from under a lawn mower. Mine will be coming out of a large pumpkin carved to look like it is eating the man. You could go full on and do something like have fake guts coming out of the legs with a bunch of zombies or even rats appearing to be eating the top half. Maybe even add an audio loop to enhance the effect.
Once you have learned this basic animation with a simple and inexpensive windshield wiper motor you will be able to apply it for many other applications. I’ve used a wiper motor for my skeleton escaping from an old trunk.

Thanks. We really like this prop.

Thanks. Those helpers "frightenly" unqualified :)

Very good video I want to do something with Santa climbing down a chimney

+Ady Unixmoment wow, thanks for the kind words. Doing these vids is big fun and a great stress release from my day job.
Great video ... you are going to have some great props ... I hope you are giving out he good candy on the big night!
+Dan Bronk for sure, we give good stuff out. Of course we need to buy it the day before or I'll eat it.
Great build i love it, and the ghostly/zombie pop up ha ha ha, well done.
Barry (ENG)
Thanks. Did you notice the clown appearing in the window?
I mentioned that above in my comment.
Sorry. I thought you were talking about the zombie baby that takes over the screen in quick chops.
I think we got our wires crossed a bit ha ha ha, yes i did see the clown in the window in between the zombie baby bits as you call it, at least that's sorted now ha ha ha. Well Done Again.
Good job. Work those robotic gluts!
Hey, just because he is half a man doesn't mean he should not care anymore.
This would work great for a killer klowns from outer space haunt!
Certainly would. Lots of other users as well. Thanks for watching.
How are you powering the motor? DC vs AC are you using a inverter? if that makes sense?
The windshield wiper motor is DC. Just need to buy a cheap ac to dc power brick converter. They are cheap, just make sure you get one rated for your motor.
You made this look easy. I thought I could do it. I followed your steps best i could but my motor wont make the bar turn. The motor itself spins or stalls. Do you have an email or discord I could send a video and maybe you could tell me what i did wrong please?
Sorry to here you are having issues. Go to my FB page and send me a note. I'm not sure if you can post video, but I know you can post pictures. If be happy to try and help. It is a cool prop and we'll last so much longer than the ones you buy.
They are only scraps UNTIL, they serve a purpose.
You got that right
What wiper motor did you get?
I don't remember exactly but here are a couple links that should work perfectly fine. They are Amazon Affiliate links which cost you no more money, but does give me a ver small commission.
- This one is probably closest to what I'm using: amzn.to/3eHwjEb
- These next two are less expensive and I would think they would work perfectly fine:

Please come back and let me know how yours turns out. The kids (and adults) still love this prop when I put it out every year.
@@BronkBuilt oh Kool thank you
Doing this kind of thing is a lot simpler with good plans, and such can be found on the Stodoys website.
