This was an awesome review! We board the Pacific Explorer in May and I'll definitely be trying every restaurant on board. So I have 64 days to starve myself as I'll definitely be gaining weight with all that food ....Eeeeekkkk!

Ya the food was real tasty to me.... so people are more critical but the only restaurants you pay for... the pizza one (gradi 400) the burger one (Luke’s grill) and the seafood one (shell and bones)

Ma man, Danny Black... I'm a be tucking into P&O's Pacific Explorer's food delights in two weeks' time. We only have three nights so I'm torn on what restaurant I should visit the first night. Who cares, I guess? It all looks the bomb, especially those dumplings. Man, oh, man.
Edit: you can NEVER have too much garlic. Whatever a recipe says regarding the amount of garlic to use, you triple that and then triple that again!
Was on board last week from 2nd december 22 was looking forward to dine at shell and bones but was told its closed till march 23 due to lack of staff
Just wondering if they have dairy-free options, I'm sure they do, but is it an extensive selection or limited?
If you do have any food requirements you canlet them know before you get on the ship and they will make sure to sort it out for you 😊

hmm curious question, lets say we book in an eat somewhere, lets say the waterfront just for this example, and for some reason the kids didnt like anything on the menu or they didnt get full and were still hungry but didn't want anything else from there, could we go down to the pantry and get something else if it was still service time? Thanks.
Absolutely. You could also order multiple things at the waterfront. But when the pantry is open, there is no rules to how much to eat :)
where is danny black thank you very much :-) were a family of 7 and all 5 kids are different type of eaters, I’d like to be able to enjoy the restaurants outside of the pantry but was concerned they would end up being hungry 😋 thanks again
Yeah Nah Beauty oh ya I can understand. I love angelos and dragon lady ... but I typically always go to the pantry... to me the food is delicious and it’s just so easy
You can eat at any place one after the other in one hour if you want. No limit.

I had a look online and couldn’t find it anywhere ! I’m going back on the ship in a few weeks and I’ll see if I can get shots of the menus and prices (however, I will say that for the 3 restaurants that cost $ the prices are reasonable)

Only 2 restaurants we went to cost extra. The shell and bones and Luke’s burger shop
Also the 400 Gradi is extra, but the other 4 restaurants are free

Food was crap when I went, same boat as well.. the quality of food in the pantry was shocking.

I recently sailed on the Pacific Explorer and I didn’t share your experience with the food.
I’m not a foodie... and when I do work on ships I eat most of my meals in the pantry... so it was a welcome change for me. I know everyone won’t feel the same, and I wasnt trying to mislead... it tastes great to me (sorry you didn’t like it)
I just got back from the Pacific explorer found the food in the pantry worse than a RSL buffet the deserts where good .
Pantry was very disapointing . Had the pizza at extra cost come with 2 slices of mushroom and heaps is sauce so soggy pizza
That tasted like tomato only. Last cruise not with it
Ya I hear what your saying... I’m thinking that I just have always had low expectations for food on ships.. started doing ships 8 years ago, and I’ve had really really bad food on ships , so this time around when I made this video it all tasted good to me

Lol ya it’s all the same blanket company which is funny. But I can tell you there have been times when the food was so bad that the crew was all losing weight, but then a new chef would come on and we would gain it back... so I can appreciate that there are times when the food is not so great... this particular time it was really really good
At least tell us the name of the departure port. Food experience on cruise ships is vastly different, depending on the departure port and, especially, the country.
You are correct ship food can be different from region or company. This was out of sydney Australia

Home one week from Pacific Explorer cruise 10/12/19.
Seriously, Angelo’s is THE worst restaurant I’ve eaten in. Everyone bar one person of our party of 23 returned every course. Dreadful.
Luke’s, great burgers but you are paying at Luke’s.
Dragon Lady Asian, ok but nothing to write home about.
Waterfront, breakfast nice but make sure the sausage is cooked thoroughly as twice I had to send sausage back to kitchen. Lunch reasonable as is dinner.
The Pantry, food most definitely so so but being in there is like being surrounded by pigs at a trough! One foray in to the pantry was enough.
The Bonded Store Bar was brilliant.
