Rises again, bound to a wraith to die again and again, slay thousands of Orcs, face Sauron and the ringwraiths, to be betrayed by the wraith and fight alone for years with Orcs
Even then it does not end, as he is broken, and turned into the 9th Ringwraith and finds himself, fighting the very people he defended for years serving the very enemy who took everything, and then finally dies when Sauron falls

The great truth about Talion is the thing that makes him such an incredibly emotional and empathetic character. He's just a man. Call him what you like; Gravewalker, Bright Lord, Nazgul. Talion was never anything more than a man. He could have given up a thousand times. He could've walked away, left it to greater heroes. But he didn't. Talion embodied the spirit of man, the will to never stop fighting, never give up, never let the crushing tide of darkness overtake that which you swore to protect. Talion of Gondor, husband to Ioreth, father to Dirhael, First Captain of the Rangers of the Black Gate, held the line. Not because he had to, or because he wanted to, but because no one else could. Such a terribly sad and inspiring tale. Makes me want to prove that I can be just as good a man as him.

@@Forsparda I never said his will was never broken, no man can withstand the rings forever. But he fought against Sauron all the way to the end, right up until he was taken. In a way, "Talion" never broke, refusing to allow Isildur to be taken, in defiance of Celebrimbor, and refusing to quit even when he wanted to more than anything else. And even then, his spirit still went on to the afterlife, which tells me that his will was never really broken, just dominated or masked by Sauron's will through the ring. The rest of the Nazgul we know actively accepted the power of Sauron, where Talion was simply worn down to the point that resistance was infeasible. I don't think Talion ever really broke, he just couldn't resist the Dark Lord any longer.

After I cried for 20 minutes.
    I started contemplating the story,
I read through the comments about him not be canon and that his story goes against Tolkiens legacy. Talion is merely a man. He is supposed to die. And he should have with his family. However, the story is about Light and dark in a lifetime of war trying to dominate and eradicate one another.
Talion is simply Celebrimbors host. Talion can be killed but never dies. And even when celebrimbor and him separate he stills fights against all odds to make sure that the darkness never smothers his light. Even though according to Tolkien, if you dominate others you are no less of a villain than Sauron and that's exactly what the ending tells us. Even though Talion was holding Morder he was still doing it in a way that that desecrates life. Talion eventually realized that his battle was lost from the moment it started. Every day he defended morder he became less of a mortal. He strays ever further from memories of normal life and life with his family. He realized that the only way to truly end this was to join the nazguls. He had a choice not to join but what was he fighting for? Celebrimbor left him, the entity that tied him down to this tragedy in the first place. He has no loved ones. To him, Galadriel, himself, Eltariel and the orcs are the only living beings but then again Talion is dead, he is bound to life unending that only brings more death. He is basically a Nazgul just not fighting for Sauron, obviously, until he becomes part of Sauron. The fact that Talion dies with Sauron is to re emphasize that he was never a hero, no matter how much he thought he was.
All he wanted was his family.
    Sauron and Celebrimbor wanted Supremacy.
Talion and Celebrimbor are similar to Sauron and Saruman. Talion is just a puppet.
Fighting for one side of the war.
He still contributed to the burning embers and the blood spilled lands, in what he thought was a painstaking path reuniting him with his family was actually a road that lead to the ultimate draining of his consciousness and stripping him of everything that made him "The Ranger Of Gondor"
The thing is that he is an enigmatic character, meaning that we can never get to the bottom of his character.
Still made everyone at least shed a tear because he really is just the entity that reminds us that , heros and villain are never remembered and never forgotten. As well as life unending is a curse and the longer you life with eternal life the less you want to be alive even if you're the strongest being in the world.
Talion, Celembrimbor, Sauron and the Nazugals are entities that cannot exist without each other. That's why they all die together. ( I'm not sure if Celebrimbor dies but I think he does) In the end they all lose but we can at least hope that Talion can be reunited with his family.
Definitely my favourite game with such a compelling story and the reason that there are disputes about its purpose and what it stands for shows how powerful the story was. Whichever side of the battle you choose to fight on you will think you are good and the opposition are evil when in reality, there is good and evil in every being and while the one side shines the other is asleep until it is rested and holds dominion over the other and forcing it to rest and relent until it can hold dominion. The point is that either side removes free will because if you can't beat them join them and you end up fighting who you were what you stood for which shows that neither light nor dark wins and good and evil co exist even though not peacefully.

Jesus Christ, have you not watched The Lord Of The Rings at all? Talion held back Sauron for literally decades. If not for Talion, Sauron would have conquered Middle Earth long before the Fellowship even had a chance to defend themselves. But thanks to Talion, Frodo, Sam, Aragorn and the entire fellowship has a head start to destroy the ring. And the sad thing is, is that nobody will ever know of what he did. Nobody will ever know of his sacrifice to save Middle Earth from the forces of darkness.

And that, I think, is what makes Talion fit so well into Middle Earth. The war of the ring is all one long story about people fighting for what's right, even when they have no reason to hope for success. Every single person involved in that war, from Talion to Frodo, had every reason to think they would fail. And that's what makes it so powerful that they kept trying anyway.
And eventually, through their combined efforts, they do the last thing anyone expected - they won.

My journey through the Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War saga began in 2016. Starting with Shadow of Mordor, I was immediately captivated by the narrative and immersive gameplay.
Five years later, in 2021, I returned to Middle-earth to experience the thrilling sequel, Shadow of War. My adventure through Mordor continued, and although I didn't quite reach the end at first, I achieved a significant 60% completion of the game.
Finally, on February 16, 2024, I've conquered the remaining challenges and witnessed the culmination of Talion's story. While bittersweet, the final cutscenes provided a satisfying yet tragic closure to his journey. While a part of me wished for Talion's continued existence, the writer masterfully crafted an ending that leaves little room for further adventures.
Looking back, this journey spanning eight years (2016-2024) has been truly memorable. I deeply enjoyed the gameplay and the intricate narrative woven throughout both games. The Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War saga will undoubtedly remain a cherished experience.

i decided to let him kill me to make it cinematic, and during the minas ithil attack, the captain that you need to kill in the yard was him
i ended up killing him therefore closing off his story, but during the zog questline he came back as an undead in the colosseum
i will never forget you horza 😭

mine was a basic orc from all the way back in minas ithil. Just starting out as I was hunting down a captain that had killed me at least 3 times, a grunt got me. Thrak. after my demise, thrak the tark slayer. So I tracked him down. Killed him. He cheated death and appeared in the middle of another encounter. I fled, believing the fight was lost. From there, I was angry with thrak. So I chased him down again, and killed him. Had a good personality to, the poor bastard. Several sessions later, I head to the colosseum and confront zog. At this point I had reached a point I always do in games. The point where I start paying attention to the character of the enemies, seeing them as people instead of obstacles to be removed. And I looked back on thrak fondly. So I confront zog, and see the orcs raised from the dead. And imagine my surprise when the final orc revealed is none other than thrak the tark slayer. Seeing what he’d become, surprise shifted to guilt. I still tell myself that I killed himself out of mercy instead of shame.

I loved the little smile on Talion's face when he dropped his weapons and armour and walked into the light. His battle was over and he found peace.

Talion was a beast, he stood alone for decades. Being alone against evil is insanely hard something no one else could do in middle earth, truly a hero feat. Eru himself welcomed him at the end.

I feel like Talion is the perfect depiction of everyone fighting battles no one knows about, whether physical, emotional, or mental. It took armies of every race, wizards, and everything they had to beat Sauron. Yet this man held him at bay for years alone. It wasn't the war that broke him, it was the betrayals. And in death he finally found peace. I don't care what anyone says, this was a phenomenal character who was written very well. This song really embodies him.
