  • In this video I show you how I disassemble, clean, and rebuild my gear differential.
    I go over what to look for with wear items and when to replace certain parts. Also what and where to apply grease and how full to fill your diff.

    Found your video trying to figure out if the box was an actual differential or not, I'm amazed by the tiny size of the gears inside! Thanks a lot!

    The bearing shield in the diffs are awesome, I have not seen them before, it locks the diff in place protects the bearings and from what I can see it sets the agama build above all others, if there was ever a reason to buy a buggy over another this is it, I hope agama have it patented, what an invention, ✌️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

      I could already tell this was an exceptional quality diff l(possibly the best R.C. Diff ever made)before he showed the beautiful Gear.
      Awesome indeed.

    Hi friend, I'm from Brazil and I have some questions. I would be very happy if you would help me! I have already discovered that it is necessary to apply grease to the outer gears of the differentials, but I really wanted to know if I should also grease the gears of the engine. Example: 6448 parts: Spur gear, 8985: Input gear transmission, both from Traxxas Maxx. Another question is that the center differential gear comes into contact with a motor gear, should I grease it too? Part 8988. Inside Driveshaft 8949, do I also need to apply grease?

    • @RyanLutz
      @RyanLutz  Před 2 lety +1

      The only gears we grease are the diff gears ring and pinion as in the video.
      No gears out in the elements are greased. They would just attract dirt.

    Question is do you really need to let the differential oil sit so the air bubble would dissolve before you put it back together?

    • @RyanLutz
      @RyanLutz  Před 3 lety

      99.9% of people wouldn't feel a difference. Just be sure any bigger bubbles are gone and get it back together! :-)

      I don't. I would avoid it on plastics too.
      I prefer just to get it out best ya can with the rag.

    Clean job man, the only thing I cringed hard is the part where you tighten the screws manually with the driver, man you can't do that to that driver that's sad man, don't you see how sad the driver is?!

    • @RyanLutz
      @RyanLutz  Před 4 lety +1

      Haha. That driver has been through a LOT in the past 10 years! You should see me take out 4mm screws loctited in the engine mount that can't be undone by hand! I'm not a mechanical person so I don't understand these things. But thanks for sharing and i'll do better next time!

    • @topgunns1000
      @topgunns1000 Před 4 lety

      I hope you're joking. Lutz is a pro and he's been doing this forever. He knows what he's doing with HIS driver. He's also not putting this video up because he's looking for an evaluation on his diff rebuild / tools / process from the peanut gallery. He's teaching you, not the other way around.

    • @ParRagon-
      @ParRagon- Před 4 lety +1

      @@topgunns1000 yea, it's hard to tell over text what's joke what not. Even if you write words like SAD for an electric driver, like machines have emotions and so, calm down your nuts dude. Besides, Im watching this for fun not for education, it's nothing I didn't knew before I watched this video.

    • @ParRagon-
      @ParRagon- Před 4 lety

      @@RyanLutz if it gets loctited screws loose its really nice :D above was a joke, but there are machines that when you tighten a screw and the driver can't Torque anymore from itself and you try to tighten any further when still giving juice but manually, it starts to fire the windings.
