from all the videos i've been seen i'm more impressed by this 20w machine than other 30w machines
Very cool. I went the cheap route and got the 10 watt kit that mounts on a printer, which I use with one of my CR-10S printers. It gives really nice results once you get an idea of how to adjust the settings for the material you're working with, and their guide was a big help with that. The very first thing I ran was an engraving on basswood that came out incredibly well. I was very impressed with it, especially for the price.
One of the best I’ve seen on this laser. The cheap camera is a great idea because otherwise you’re caught between “not watching” and “watching for problems”. Like you, I have green and orange glasses and both seem to let too much light through. The enclosure is a pain - way better than nothing but I’m looking for a DIY sheet metal replacement. Finally, the height gauge only mentions 3 limited choices and everybody goes with the highest level for everything (with good results). Thanks.
Thanks a lot for this video - it gives great info!
Would you be able to let us know where you got that leafs pattern you cut in paper? I'e be really interested :)
how does it go with engraving or cutting acrylic? on the sheet of materials I noticed that acrylic was crossed out, would it take a 4.5mm thick sheet, or only 3mm thick?
Laser wavelength is 455nm but the glasses you show only cover a range from 180-532nm
Have you laser engraved glass ?
Maybe I missed it in the audio but how thick a piece of plywood is it able to cut?

I have yet to see a video that goes in depth to explain what degree of precision that this machine can engrave at. I have the 40W with the 22W precision mode and so far, this machine lacks precision compared to my 10W snapmaker laser. I understand due to the nature of the compression happening in this machine that the laser spot size will be larger, but it would be nice to have someone test and compare results to see what dpi this engraver can actually achieve. I am unable to make engravings on objects come out with correctly scanned white space on objects 30 mm or smaller.
From what I've read, the lower the laser, the better the precision. So indeed, you would be able to cut fine details with a 40W, but you'd get better results using a 10w or 22w when it comes to details. I presume (and I'm no expert) that the power of a laser is also affecting the kurf of your cuts. Maybe the 40w in 22w precision is just the same "set of diodes" but at lower power....again, I'm speculating here and could be totaly wrong.
Enclosure is very sketchy, it would be disastrous if it caught on fire. Happened to me once on 5W laser, its very common while cutting detailed parts, and I wouldn't trust this enclosure.
