Box spring for a mattress. Find them free. Throw blanket - if you have access to Free Stores those are free too.
I have a homemade wooden frame that used to be part of a bunk bed that is only 2 inches thick. It’s lined with card board and then an insulation type fabric and that works great. Frame is 1x2’s. It’s twin bed size.
If I didn’t have that I’d use a twin box spring. Which might be a good option for someone living in a studio who can flip their mattress to make a photo station and then put down to sleep on.
